Abstract

The screw feeder is a commonly used material transporter in various industries due to its ability to move large quantities of material and operate for extended periods. In practice, unexpected damage often occurs, requiring component replacements outside regular maintenance schedules. To improve reliability, Ishikawa diagrams are used to identify root causes of damage, while the FMEA method helps analyze failure risks and schedule preventive maintenance. This study found that the main causes of screw coal feeder damage are human error, mechanical issues, materials, and methods. Recommended actions include regular inspections for wear and proper lubrication to maintain performance. Based on reliability analysis, the screw feeder leaf has a reliability rate of 95.3% with a mean time between failure (MTBF) of 116.66 hours. The casing has a reliability rate of 94.6% and an MTBF of 142.85 hours. Implementing Ishikawa and FMEA methods at PT XYZ’s coal-fired power plant (PLTU) enables more effective and planned maintenance. This approach minimizes unexpected breakdowns, improves component reliability, and ensures smoother operations.

Abstract

Limestone from Mount (Mt.) Beranti, Lampung Province, contains 97.43% calcium carbonate (CaCO₃), making it a suitable natural precursor for synthesizing hydroxyapatite (HA). HA is widely utilized as a bone tissue filler, particularly in treating osteoporosis. In this study, CaCO₃ was processed using ball milling at 300 rpm for durations of 2, 3, and 4 hours, followed by sintering at temperatures of 600°C, 800°C, and 1000°C for holding times of 2, 3, and 4 hours. FTIR analysis using the hydrothermal method on calcined limestone powder revealed characteristic peaks corresponding to phosphate (PO₄³⁻) at 1025.45 cm⁻¹, calcium oxide (Ca–O) at 1413.59 cm⁻¹, and hydroxyl (O–H) at 3030.33 cm⁻¹, which closely resemble those found in commercial HA. SEM-EDX analysis at 1000°C for 4 hours showed a homogenous microstructure, with EDX results indicating the highest concentrations of calcium and phosphate after milling for 2 hours. Vickers hardness testing confirmed the highest hardness value was also achieved at 1000°C for 4 hours. Overall, the FTIR, SEM-EDX, and microhardness results demonstrate enhanced properties of HA, supporting its effectiveness as a material for filling porous bone tissue. Abstract

This research aims to develop a method for identifying the ripeness level of papaya based on color features using the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm. In the introduction, it is emphasized that generally, the color changes in papaya skin serve as the primary indicator of ripeness, but the accuracy of human observations in distinguishing colors can sometimes be suboptimal. Therefore, this study focuses on utilizing the SVM algorithm, particularly recognized for its excellent classification capabilities, especially in image processing and classification. The initial step in the research method involves a literature review to gather the latest information on fruit ripeness classification, with a specific emphasis on color features. The subsequent steps include formulating problems and hypotheses to determine whether color-based classification methods, particularly SVM, can effectively classify papaya ripeness levels. The design and implementation phase encompass capturing papaya images using a smartphone camera, converting the images from RGB to LAB, and extracting color features using a multi-level SVM. Testing and evaluation are then conducted to assess the system's accuracy. The implementation results indicate an accuracy rate of 96%, categorizing papayas into three classifications: mature, partially mature, and immature. Evaluation metrics such as precision, recall, and F1-score provide in-depth insights into the system's performance, demonstrating SVM's capability in identifying papaya ripeness levels. In conclusion, this research successfully applies SVM as an effective method for classifying papaya ripeness based on color features, contributing to the development of an accurate and reliable automated system for fruit ripeness identification.

Abstract

Porous tantalum has been recently recognized as a conventional orthopedic implant for bone substitute applications besides stainless steel, cobalt-chromium, titanium, and other metallic alloys. Porous tantalum has excellent mechanical and osseointegration properties similar to cancellous bone structure. To optimize the utilization, the dip coating technique was applied to coat porous tantalum with hydroxyapatite (HA). X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques investigate the coating characterization. HA is a bioceramic material that used for bone substitutes due to its chemical and structural similarity to bone minerals. Coated porous tantalum requires the sintering process of porous tantalum to adhere to HA. During the sintering process, various temperatures (650°C, 750°C, 850°C, 950°C, and 1100°C) were used to determine the optimum temperature for porous tantalum coated with HA. The heating rate is 1°C/1 min and the holding time is 60 minutes. The result shows that the optimum temperature of HA-coated porous tantalum is at 850°C. The morphology structure of the HA-coated porous tantalum shows that the adhesion between porous tantalum and HA is in good condition. The element in the HA-coated porous tantalum shows that the existence of HA is high.

Abstract

The increase in Single Tuition Fee (UKT) has become increasingly concerning for many prospective students and parents in Indonesia. The significant rise in UKT has led many prospective students to decide not to pursue higher education, resulting in a decline in college enrollment interest. This study aims to analyze the impact of the UKT increase on the declining interest in higher education among prospective students using the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) algorithm in Machine Learning. Based on sentiment data from YouTube and Instagram regarding the UKT increase issue, the LSTM model is implemented to predict college enrollment interest based on changes in UKT. The results of this study indicate a significant correlation between the UKT increase and the decline in new student enrollment. The Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) algorithm model effectively predicts the impact of tuition fee increases on prospective students' interest in higher education. This is supported by an accuracy of 84%, showcasing the model's ability to recognize historical patterns in the data used optimally.

Abstract

Southeast Sulawesi is one of the provinces in Indonesia characterized by diverse topography and climate, making it challenging to accurately identify and predict rainfall patterns. The aim of this study is to enhance our understanding of weather behavior in Southeast Sulawesi and provide a foundation for developing more advanced and region-specific weather prediction methods. The data used in this research consists of historical weather records obtained from the official BMKG (Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency) website, containing features that significantly contribute to rainfall prediction. The method employed in this study is the Naive Bayes classification model, which involves several stages including data collection, pre-processing, and preparation for the modeling phase, ultimately generating rainfall prediction outputs. The results of the study yielded a rainfall prediction accuracy of 74.66%. For the rainfall class (0.0), the model achieved a precision of 82%, recall of 66%, and F1-score of 73%. Meanwhile, for the rainfall class (1.0), the model achieved a precision of 69%, recall of 84%, and F1-score of 76%. Despite some prediction errors, these findings indicate that the Naive Bayes method can serve as a solid foundation for the development of more sophisticated and tailored weather prediction models for the Southeast Sulawesi region.
