Abstract

Nursing shortages and high rates of staff turnover are pressing issues that can disrupt health service delivery and increase the costs of recruiting new staff. A similar situation also occurred at Siloam Kebon Jeruk Hospital, which underlines the need to conduct this research. This study aims to examine the influence of clinical leadership and employee involvement on nurse retention at Siloam Kebon Jeruk Hospital, with resilience as a mediating factor. This research is a quantitative study with a cross sectional approach involving 262 respondents. The research sample was taken using the Simple Random Sampling technique. Nurses were surveyed using quantitative techniques to collect data. These findings suggest that clinical leadership and employee engagement have a significant impact on nurse retention, both directly and indirectly, through resilience. Effective clinical leadership fosters a pleasant work environment, enhancing nurses' professional growth and job satisfaction. This study shows that employee engagement can build commitment and reduce turnover rates. The findings of this study suggest that supporting solid clinical leadership and active nurse engagement can significantly increase nurse retention, thereby ensuring consistent, high-quality healthcare services.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of patient involvement and effective communication on the image of the Emergency Department (ED) at Dr. Dradjat Prawiranegara Regional Hospital in Serang, with service quality acting as a moderating variable. Utilizing a quantitative research method, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 315 patients who received emergency care services between October 1 and November 1, 2024. The data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The findings show that patient involvement has a significant and positive impact on the image of the ED, while effective communication alone does not show a statistically significant effect. However, service quality positively moderates the relationship between effective communication and the ED’s image, enhancing its influence. In contrast, service quality does not moderate the relationship between patient involvement and ED image. These results highlight the importance of engaging patients in medical decisions and ensuring effective communication strategies supported by high service quality to enhance the institutional image of emergency healthcare services. The study suggests that hospital management should develop integrated service improvement policies focusing on staff communication training, patient-centered care practices, and continuous quality improvement. It also recommends further qualitative studies to explore deeper insights into patient experiences and to examine other hospital departments to broaden the understanding of healthcare service quality's role in shaping hospital image.

Abstract

As one of the oldest hospitals in Bekasi Regency, KM I Hospital is required to remain trusted by patients in choosing health services including inpatient care. The decline in BOR (Bed Occupancy Rate) experienced by KM I Hospital in the last 1 year indicates that hospital marketing needs to be improved.  This study aims to analyze the effect of competitive advantage and informational reference groups on patient's decision in choosing inpatient services with benevolence trust as an intervening variable at KM I Hospital. The research method uses a quantitative explanatory research approach. Respondents were 185 patients at KM I Hospital who were willing to be hospitalized. The sample collection technique was purposive sampling. Data collection used a questionnaire, and the data analysis technique used SEM-PLS. Results show that Competitive Advantage and Informational Reference Group have a direct and indirect effect on patient’s decision to choose inpatient services through benevolence trust at KM I Hospital (p<0.05). These results theoretically support previous theories and research. Managerially, it is expected to provide input for KM I Hospital management to increase competitive advantage and strengthen informational reference groups. These efforts can increase benevolence trust and ultimately increase patient’s decision to choose inpatient services.
