Abstract

The card sort method is an instructional strategy that promotes active student engagement by encouraging the categorization and organization of key concepts. Widely applied across various subjects, this method has demonstrated its potential to enhance student participation and comprehension. This study investigates the implementation of the card sort method in teaching ‘Aqīdah Akhlāq (Islamic Creed and Morals) for Grade 7 and Al-Qur’ān Ḥadīṡ for Grade 8 at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri (MTsN) 2 Surakarta. The method was chosen for its interactive and collaborative nature, which fosters greater student involvement. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the card sort method effectively aids Grade 7 students in systematically grasping and classifying moral values and religious doctrines in ‘Aqīdah Akhlāq. Similarly, it supports Grade 8 students in Al-Qur’ān Ḥadīṡ classes by enhancing their ability to identify, connect, and contextualize relevant Qur’anic verses and Hadiths. The study concludes that the card sort method is a valuable pedagogical tool for Islamic Studies instruction, though modifications may be necessary to align with the varying levels of content complexity across different grade levels.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the principal's leadership strategy in the implementation of the Qur'an Tahfizh program at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Blora. The scope of this research includes participatory planning and implementation, leadership methods in monitoring and evaluating the program, as well as the obstacles faced and the solutions taken. The research, which was conducted using a qualitative approach with a case study design, collected data through in-depth interviews with the principal, observation, and document review. The results showed that the principal applies visionary and transformational leadership styles that refer to the principles of Emaslin (Entrepreneur, Manager, Administrator, Leader, and Motivator). The Tahfizh program that started in 2015 is divided into two tracks: regular with a minimum target of 1 juz and dormitory with a target of 15 juz. Program management strategies include vision-mission adjustment, integration into the curriculum, collaboration with credible institutions (PUTM and Pondok Gontor), use of the Ummi method, and periodic evaluation every three months in collaboration with UMMI Korda Blora. The main challenges of implementation include decreased student motivation, limited tuition fees, difficulties in dormitory adaptation, and managing stakeholder expectations. The principal overcame these challenges through program flexibility, a cross-subsidy system, active communication with parents, and comprehensive evaluation through munaqasyah and daily tasmi'. The success of the program was demonstrated by 6 out of 44 boarding students (13.6%) successfully completing 30 juz of memorization. This research underscores the importance of adaptive and student-centered leadership in implementing innovative Islamic education programs. The Tahfizh program is integrated with the school's vision of creating “Cemara” graduates (smart, independent, and morally good), reflecting a holistic approach in Islamic education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Merdeka Curriculum in learning Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at El Dzikir Islamic Boarding School. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method, the research explores the learning practices, challenges, and positive impacts of implementing this curriculum in a pesantren environment. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal and PAI teachers, non-participatory observation, and analysis of learning documents. The results showed that the implementation of Merdeka Curriculum has been running quite well although it has not been maximized. The implementation stages include planning (including teacher training and socialization to student guardians), implementation (with an active learning approach and project-based), and evaluation both test and non-test based. Learning facilities such as projectors and Chromebooks are supporting factors, while the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) has successfully integrated Islamic values through activities such as Quranic Camp. Key challenges include teachers' and learners' adaptation to the new curriculum and learners' difficulty maintaining focus during digital learning and outside the classroom. Positive impacts include more dynamic learning, development of learners' independence and critical thinking skills, and a more flexible and creative role for teachers. This research shows that pesantren-based educational institutions are able to adapt Merdeka Curriculum while maintaining Islamic values in the learning process. The findings contribute to the development of a national curriculum implementation model in the context of Islamic education and provide practical recommendations for optimizing the integration of religious values with contemporary pedagogical approaches according to the Pancasila Learner Profile.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Akidah Akhlak teachers in overcoming the morality crisis at MTsN 2 Surakarta. The phenomenon of moral decline among adolescents, such as lack of respect, bullying, and abuse of technology, is a serious challenge in the world of education, especially in the formation of student character. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through direct observation, in-depth interviews with two Akidah Akhlak teachers, as well as supporting documentation such as lesson plans and student behavior records. Data validity is strengthened through source and method triangulation. The results showed that Akidah Akhlak teachers play a strategic role in student character building through value learning in the classroom, involvement in extracurricular activities, and the creation of a school culture that supports morality. Teachers become role models and facilitators of Islamic values in students' lives. Direct learning actively involves students to develop understanding, critical thinking, and integrated skills, while the indirect learning process runs simultaneously as part of educational activities even though it is not specifically designed. In conclusion, character education based on Islamic values has proven effective in responding to the moral crisis in schools. Its success is determined by the active role of teachers, the involvement of parents, and the consistency of school policies. This research confirms that character building is a social practice that requires collaboration across parties and approaches according to the context of the times, opening up opportunities for the development of models that are more responsive to the needs of today's youth.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the leadership strategies of the principal in improving the quality of education at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Andong Boyolali. A qualitative approach with a field study method was used to analyze the implementation of participatory and contextual leadership in the context of an Islamic-based vocational high school in a rural area. The research data were obtained through participatory observation, interviews, and document studies, and the Miles and Huberman model was used to analyze this research. The results of the study showed that the principal implemented quality improvement strategies systematically through the formulation of shared vision and mission, SWOT analysis, short-term to long-term planning, as well as the development of flagship programs based on local needs. The implementation of these strategies was supported by the establishment of internal policies, human resource empowerment, and the enhancement of teacher motivation. The evaluation of the strategies was carried out periodically to maintain their relevance and effectiveness. These findings affirm that collaborative leadership that adapts to the local context is capable of creating a sustainable culture of educational quality in rural vocational schools. This study provides a theoretical contribution to the development of an educational leadership model that is relevant to the Indonesian context

Abstract

Objective: This study explores the identity crisis among Southeast Asian youth shaped by political instability, cultural pluralism, modernization, and colonial legacies. It examines how Islamic ethics, psychosocial theory, and critical pedagogy can support resilient identity formation. Theoretical framework: Grounded in Erikson’s psychosocial theory, Giroux’s critical pedagogy, and Islamic concepts of selfhood (nafs), moral growth (tazkiyah), and communal belonging (ummah), this research offers a holistic lens on identity construction. Literature review: Existing studies overlook the integration of Islamic thought with Western developmental and pedagogical models in Southeast Asia. Although Islamic schools influence youth identity, their deeper psychosocial and moral roles remain underexplored in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Southern Thailand. Method: Using a qualitative, interdisciplinary approach, the study draws from ethnographic case studies, visual data, and interviews. Islamic doctrinal analysis is applied to assess faith-based coping mechanisms and moral development. Results: Identity is shown to be a dynamic, negotiated process. Islamic institutions provide moral clarity and psychological support, while the proposed Dual-Intervention Model, blending critical pedagogy with spiritual introspection, enhances youth resilience and ethical grounding. Implications: The findings inform educators and policymakers seeking to align Islamic education with psychosocial development. The model offers a culturally rooted, interdisciplinary solution to youth identity fragmentation in postcolonial contexts. Novelty: This study introduces a dual-theoretical framework that fuses Islamic ethics with psychosocial and pedagogical theory to build a context-specific approach to identity formation.

Abstract

Transformasi pendidikan di Indonesia melalui penerapan Kurikulum Merdeka menuntut adanya pergeseran paradigma dalam pembelajaran dan evaluasi. Namun demikian, praktik evaluasi yang terjadi di lapangan masih banyak didominasi oleh pendekatan konvensional yang belum sepenuhnya sejalan dengan prinsip-prinsip evaluasi formatif, autentik, dan berbasis proyek sebagaimana diamanatkan dalam kurikulum tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi, mengklasifikasi, dan menganalisis model-model evaluasi pendidikan yang relevan dalam konteks Kurikulum Merdeka melalui studi kepustakaan dan analisis kebijakan resmi dari Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi (Kemendikbudristek). Dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dalam kerangka penelitian pustaka, data diperoleh dari dokumen kebijakan resmi serta berbagai literatur akademik yang relevan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa model evaluasi CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) memiliki relevansi tinggi dengan prinsip evaluasi holistik yang berpusat pada peserta didik. Model ini tidak hanya menilai hasil akhir, tetapi juga memperhatikan konteks, sumber daya, dan proses pembelajaran secara menyeluruh. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pengembangan model evaluasi dalam Kurikulum Merdeka perlu didukung melalui pelatihan guru yang berorientasi pada asesmen formatif dan reflektif, serta penyusunan standar instrumen evaluasi yang kontekstual dan adaptif. Studi ini memberikan kontribusi teoretis dalam pengembangan evaluasi berbasis konstruktivisme serta implikasi praktis bagi para pembuat kebijakan dalam mengoptimalkan pelaksanaan Kurikulum Merdeka di tingkat satuan pendidikan.

Abstract

Budaya keislaman ialah kultur, kebiasaan, atau aktivitas sehari-hari yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat dengan mengaitkan nilai-nilai Islam dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Pendampingan dan pembinaan siswa menjadi salah satu solusi dalam melestarikan budaya keislaman terutama di lingkup sekolah. Pendampingan dan pembinaan siswa berupaya untuk memberikan bimbingan, dukungan, maupun mempersiapkan peserta didik agar menjadi individu yang berkualitas dan terhindar dari dampak negatif. Didasarkan dengan latar belakang tersebut, penelitian ini memiliki tujuan berikut, yaitu: (1) menggambarkan budaya keislaman dari aktivitas dan aturan yang berlaku di SMP Al Irsyad Surakarta sebagai tempat dimana peserta didik dapat melestarikan tradisi yang ada dalam agama Islam dan (2) mengulas peranan pendampingan dan pembinaan siswa melalui pola bina prestasi dalam bidang cerdas cermat Islami sejak program tersebut dicetuskan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data yang digunakan adalah kepala sekolah, guru pamong, guru dibidang kesiswaan, siswa kelas VII-XI, dan buku panduan dari SMP Al Irsyad Surakarta. Selanjutnya teknik pengumpulan data penelitian ini diperoleh dari observasi lapangan, pengumpulan informasi dengan narasumber yang terkait berupa hasil wawancara, serta dokumentasi rekaman dan gambar sebagai bahan pendukung penelitian. Kemudian data analisis dilakukan melalui tahapan yaitu pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Sedangkan uji validitas bersifat triangulasi sumber guna mendapatkan keselarasan antara fenomena dengan beberapa narasumber. Hasil penelitian ini berupa bentuk budaya Islam dari upaya-upaya yang dilakukan SMP Al Irsyad Surakarta. Adapun wujud implementasi program bina prestasi secara umum dan spesifik di bidang cerdas cermat Islami. Program bina prestasi menjadi salah satu terobosan dua tahun terakhir sebagai sekolah Quran.

Abstract

Lembaga Pendidikan saat ini, telah banyak yang menyediakan program tahfidz untuk mendukung kualitas nilai dari setiap lulusan seperti halnya di SMP Al Irsyad Surakarta. Keberhasilan dan pencapaian disetiap lulusan bisa dilihat dari siswa yang mampu menghafal al-Qur’an sesuai dengan target yang telah ditentukan. Pada penelitian bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran mengenai manajemen program tahfidz dalam mencapai keberhasilan siswa di SMP Al Irsyad Surakarta sekaligus faktor pendukung maupun penghambat dalam pelaksanaan program tahfidz tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan data yang berasal dari observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Dari hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa manajemen program tahfidz SMP Al Irsyad Surakarta sudah berjalan dengan baik dengan menggunakan fungsi dari manajemen yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengontrolan, dan evaluasi. Faktor yang mendukung berjalannya program tahfidz adalah sarana prasarana yang memadai, waktu yang tepat dalam pelaksanaan program, murobbi yang sesuai dengan bidangnya, dukungan dari Yayasan dan orang tua siswa terhadap berlangsungnya program tahfidz, banyaknya siswa yang mengikuti rumah qur’an di luar jam sekolah, dan terpisahnya siswa laki-laki dan perempuan dalam lingkungan sekolah. Sedangkan untuk faktor penghambat bisa terjadi dari faktor internal maupun faktor eksternal. Faktor internal yaitu siswa yang telat menyetorkan hafalan karena malas sedangkan untuk faktor eksternal yaitu orang tua siswa yang kurang mendukung atas berjalannya program tahfidz.

Abstract

Masjid, sebagai pusat kegiatan kegamaan dan peradaban Islam, mengalami penyempitan peran dalam konteks modern, di mana fungsinya sering terbatas pada ritual semata. Fenomena ini berdampak pada menurunnya partisipasi anak dan remaja, yang berakibat pada kurangnya kedekatan generasi muda dengan lembaga keagamaan. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkonseptualisasikan sebuah program solutif bernama "Masjid Ramah Anak" sebagai upaya revitalisasi fungsi masjid. Program ini mengintegrasikan pendekatan edukatif, kreatif, dan Islami yang dirancang sesuai dengan psikologi perkembangan anak dan remaja. Metodologi program meliputi tahapan observasi, perancangan, pelaksanaan serangkaian kegiatan (seperti Tahfidz Kreatif, Klub Literasi Islami, dan Workshop Seni), serta evaluasi. Luaran yang diharapkan tidak hanya berupa peningkatan partisipasi anak, tetapi juga terbentuknya ekosistem masjid yang inklusif, pengembangan kompetensi mahasiswa sebagai fasilitator, dan dihasilkannya modul serta dokumentasi yang dapat direplikasi. Program ini diharapkan dapat menjadi model bagi masjid-masjid lain dalam mengembalikan peran strategisnya sebagai pusat pembinaan untuk generasi muda.
