Abstract

Creative thinking skills in early childhood refer to the ability to generate new ideas, creative solutions, and view problems from different perspectives. These skills form an essential foundation for the development of a child's potential in the future. However, in practice, the development of creative thinking skills in early childhood is not adequately facilitated. This is primarily due to the lack of stimulation from the surrounding environment, leading children to become passive and less motivated to engage in creative thinking. This study aims to analyze and describe the level of creative thinking skills in 5–6-year-old children. The research method used is a survey of 147 children, with data collected through questionnaires completed by class teachers. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques and presented in graphical form. The results show that, on average, the creative thinking skills of early childhood children in Surakarta are at the "beginning to develop" stage. These findings suggest the need for more systematic and developmentally appropriate stimulation to optimize the creative thinking potential of young children. The implications of this study provide a foundation for designing interventions and educational programs that support the development of creative thinking skills in early childhood.

Abstract

Despite the growing emphasis on early childhood English literacy, research on the direct impact of educational technology on young learners' reading skills remains limited, particularly in the Indonesian context. Existing studies often focus on conventional teaching methods or generic digital tools without empirically testing the effectiveness of structured educational technology interventions. Addressing this gap, this study investigates how interactive educational technology enhances early English reading skills in preschoolers. Using a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest control setup, the research involved 60 children aged 5–6 years, divided into an experimental group (n=30) exposed to technology-assisted learning and a control group (n=30) using traditional methods. Data were collected through structured observational assessments and analyzed using an Independent Samples Test. Findings revealed a statistically significant improvement in the experimental group’s reading ability, as indicated by a p-value of 0.001 (<0.05), confirming that technology-based interventions effectively enhance young learners' English reading proficiency. This study contributes to the discourse on early literacy by demonstrating the role of digital tools in fostering emergent reading skills through engaging, interactive, and adaptive learning experiences. The results suggest that integrating educational technology in preschool curricula can bridge early literacy gaps and create an enriched learning environment. On a broader scale, these findings support the need for policy revisions in early education, advocating for digital inclusivity and pedagogical innovation to better equip children with foundational literacy skills in an increasingly technology-driven world.

Abstract

Conventional mathematics teaching methods emphasize speed and accuracy, creating unnecessary pressure and often inaccurately measuring children's achievements. This research aims to build a framework, systematically examine students' affective areas, especially mathematical dispositions, and analyze the urgency of Advanced Mathematical Thinking (AMT). This research is a comprehensive investigative or exploratory mixed methods research using data triangulation. The subjects involved in this research were 80 elementary school students. The data collection method used was a questionnaire. In addition, this study combined open-ended questions and random narratives that captured participants' perspectives on mathematics learning. The data analysis technique uses qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis. The research results show that teachers must consider students' various cognitive, emotional and psychomotor capacities and constraints during the educational process. This can be done using appropriate learning activities and methodologies, such as individual assignments and exploratory learning that adapt to students' abilities.    Additionally, using narrative-based summative assessments can be an appropriate approach for educators to identify and analyze the specific needs of their students. This research implies the importance of considering students' psychological and emotional factors in designing effective mathematics learning strategies.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the need for a valid and reliable instrument to measure the mathematical disposition of elementary school students in Indonesia, which includes students' views, emotions, and attitudes towards mathematics and learning as a whole. The main purpose of this study is to develop and test the validity and reliability of questionnaire instruments that can be used by educators in evaluating student characteristics in learning mathematics. This study uses a development research method with a 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate) that has been adapted. The research subjects consisted of elementary school students in Indonesia. Data was collected through the distribution of developed questionnaires, then analyzed using validity and reliability tests. Item validity was tested by correlation analysis, while instrument reliability was analyzed using Cronbach's Alpha. The results showed that the developed instrument had high reliability, although there were some invalid items that needed to be revised. In conclusion, this instrument is considered valid, reliable, and practical to be used to evaluate students' mathematical dispositions. The implication of this study is that the instrument developed can help educators in designing more effective mathematics learning strategies based on the characteristics of student disposition.
