Abstract

This study investigates the potential of integrating Islamic ethical values into heuristic problem-based learning to foster Advanced Mathematical Thinking (AMT) skills among Islamic elementary students. Using an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design, the research involved 120 fifth-grade students from Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in a metropolitan city in Indonesia. The intervention employed the Heuristic Problem-Based Learning integrated with the Triplet Structure Model (HPbLTSM), emphasizing deep learning through inquiry, abstraction, representation, creativity, and proof. Results show that students with strong mathematical dispositions significantly improved their AMT skills, while even those with weaker dispositions benefited when ethical and collaborative frameworks were embedded. The study demonstrates that AMT is not exclusive to mathematically gifted students and that integrating Islamic values (such as ta’adub, musāwah, and taṭawwur wa ibtikār) enhances cognitive, ethical, and social growth. The findings align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in improving the creative thinking skills of elementary school students. PBL is considered one of the innovative learning models that emphasizes solving real-world problems, collaboration, and the development of higher-order thinking skills. This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with a qualitative approach, conducted on 30 fifth-grade students at SDN Benteng 3, Sukabumi City. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and creative thinking skill tests, and were analyzed using qualitative descriptive techniques. The results revealed a significant improvement in students’ creative thinking skills after the implementation of PBL. The average score increased from 34.55 (pretest) to 59.76 in the first cycle (N-Gain 39.27%, medium category) and reached 71.21 in the second cycle (N-Gain 56.38%, medium category). The most prominent improvement was observed in the indicators of flexibility and originality, while fluency, elaboration, and evaluation also showed positive progress, albeit more moderately. These findings indicate that PBL not only makes learning more interactive, collaborative, and contextual but also provides opportunities for students to generate diverse ideas, develop innovative solutions, and make critical judgments about problems. Therefore, this study confirms that PBL is effective and relevant to be continuously implemented in elementary schools to foster creative thinking skills, which are among the essential competencies required in the 21st century.

Abstract

Creativity is a 21st-century skill and also one of the dimensions of the Pancasila student profile that must be trained to students from an early age. To foster student creativity, efforts are needed to train creative thinking skills, one of which is in the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) activities. The research is motivated by efforts made by schools to train students' creative thinking skills as one of the skills that students must master in responding to the challenges of the 21st century. This study aims to analyze the improvement of students' creative thinking skills in the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) which raises the theme of Sustainable Lifestyle at SDN Nagrak, Sukabumi City. This type of research uses classroom action research with 3 cycles. The technique of collecting written test data by calculating the average learning outcomes of each cycle, calculating the total score of the questionnaire and its descriptive analysis, and documentation. Likert scale questionnaires are given to the principal, teachers who teach in grade four, and nine students. The written test and questionnaire are carried out directly during the implementation of the P5 activities for three cycles. The results of the study showed a significant increase in students' creative thinking skills test results in the following indicators: 1) fluency; 2) flexibility; 3) originality; and 4) elaboration. These creative thinking skills can be practiced in P5 activities as an effective platform for building environmental awareness from an early age.

Abstract

A second language is a language that a person acquires after acquiring his or her mother tongue, even if it is actually the third, fourth, and so on for the purpose of communication, governmental interests, education, and others. This study aims to investigate how second language learning takes place in Early Childhood Education (ECED) using the literature review research method. The literature review for this study was conducted with a systematic and comprehensive approach, aiming to capture various perspectives on second language learning in ECD. The main finding was that the introduction of a second language to young children is widely practiced in countries where English is a second language. Research and information discussions on teaching English to children have grown rapidly in recent years, reflecting the increasing number of young children learning English as a second language around the world in a variety of fun ways and diverse strategies to prepare an adaptable generation for the future.

Abstract

A 21st-century skill that must be taught from a young age is collaboration. This skill emphasizes social values, empathy, and shared responsibility in the context of early childhood education. It also includes group cooperation. The purpose of this study is to explain how a cultural project based on local knowledge from Riau Malay might encourage cooperation among young children in a kindergarten setting. The research employed a descriptive design and a qualitative methodology. Teachers and students at a kindergarten in Pekanbaru who used the cultural initiative in their lesson plans made up the research subjects. Participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation were used to gather data, which were subsequently subjected to data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing methodologies for analysis. The findings demonstrated that children's empathy, shared responsibility, and positive social connections may be fostered through local culture-based activities like folktale performances, traditional games, and the creation of regional musical instruments. Teachers served as facilitators, directing group dynamics and incorporating cultural values from the area into the educational process. These results attest to the effectiveness of the local wisdom-based cultural initiative in fostering early childhood teamwork and promoting the preservation of Riau Malay culture.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji implementasi model parenting dalam meningkatkan pemahaman pendidikan seksual pada orang tua anak usia dini. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus, melibatkan guru PAUD, orang tua, dan pengurus Bina Keluarga Balita (BKB) sebagai subjek penelitian. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis data deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan pendidikan seksual melalui pertemuan tatap muka efektif meningkatkan interaksi langsung dan komunikasi dua arah antara pendidik dan orang tua. Program techno parenting berbasis aplikasi Android turut memperluas akses informasi, memberikan fleksibilitas belajar, serta meningkatkan literasi digital orang tua dalam mendampingi anak di era teknologi. Selain itu, keterlibatan ayah memperkuat keseimbangan peran dalam pengasuhan. Sinergi ketiga komponen ini membentuk sistem dukungan edukatif yang komprehensif, meningkatkan pemahaman orang tua tentang pendidikan seksual, serta mendorong penerapan pola asuh digital yang sehat, adaptif, dan preventif terhadap risiko kekerasan seksual sejak dini.

Abstract

Guru yang berperan sebagai agent of change berupaya membentuk dan menghasilkan generasi yang potensial dan unggul dengan kompetensi professionalnya. Setiap guru perlu melakukan upaya refleksi diri untuk menilai sejauh mana kompetensi yang ia miliki diimplementasikan selama mengajar. Oleh karena itu, studi ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pandangan guru mengenai perannya sebagi agent of change serta bagaimana mereka mengimplementasikannya. Pendekatan studi kasus digunakan dalam studi ini dengan teknik pengambilan data wawancara terbuka secara online. Penelitian ini menemukan lima tema yang menjadi fokus utama peran guru sebagai agent of change: (1) guru professional memiliki peran sentral dan ujung tombak pendidikan; (2) peran agent of change dalam diri guru; (3) upaya guru meningkatkan peran sebagai agent of change; (4) faktor penghambat peran guru sebagai agent of change; dan (5) strategi guru mengatasi hambatan sebagai agent of change. Implikasi hasil penelitian dibahas lebih lanjut dalam artikel ini.

Abstract

Bukan hanya karena masa pandemi pembelajaran berbasis ICT (Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi) dipergunakan oleh guru dalam proses pembelajaran, tetapi sebuah keniscayaan yang harus dilakukan pada masa pembelajaran abad 21. Tujuan penelitian yaitu untuk mendapatkan informasi bagaimana guru profesional dalam proses pembelajaran dapat mengintegrasikan ICT pada komponen langkah-langkah pembelajaran dalam RPP (Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran). Jenis penelitian yang dipergunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik wawancara dan dokumentasi untuk diobservasi. Wawancara dilakukan pada 10 guru yang sudah tersertifikasi PAUD, menunjukkan bahwa guru profesional mengintegrasikan ICT dalam komponen RPP yang terdapat pada rumusan tujuan pembelajaran, penggunaan media pembelajaran atau sumber belajar.  Walaupun tidak semua guru yang sudah tersertifikasi dapat melakukan kegiatan mengintegrasikan ICT tersebut dalam rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran dikarenakan faktor usia yang mereka sebutkan gaptek (gagap teknologi).

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe the implementation model of the independent curriculum at the SDIT Irsyadul 'Ibad School, Pandeglang Regency as a school driving the first generation in forming the character profile of Pancasila students. This research method is descriptive qualitative. Data was collected through interviews with school principals, deputy principals, teachers and parents. Data was obtained from documentation, observation and literature study. The data obtained is then analyzed through reduction, presentation and conclusions. The research results showed that the implementation of the Pancasila student profile character was not only through intracurricular, extracurricular activities and the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project but also through school habits/culture. Apart from that, the success of implementing the Pancasila student profile character is influenced by the creativity and competence of teachers in differentiated learning as well as the absolute prohibition of smoking for teachers. Schools have the freedom to prepare learning plans that refer to learning outcomes based on student characteristics. Collaboration between school principals, teachers, students, parents and the community is an important factor in implementing the independent curriculum.
