Abstract

This study reviews the learning of the Engineering Design Process (EDP) with the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) approach that is operationalised. The review summarised and evaluated research articles published between 2014 and 2024, which specifically focus on the integration of EDP learning models with STEM approaches. This study uses the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework and follows the CRAAP Test, an evaluation tool used to assess the reliability, relevance, and credibility of the selected paper. After a rigorous search and selection process, 28 unique empirical studies were identified that explored the integration of EDP models with STEM approaches at various levels of education, from elementary school to college. The review revealed that there are only three topics that are suitable for integrating EDP learning models with STEM approaches in elementary schools. Limited research exists about the adaptability, obstacles, and support of STEM-based EDP implementation in primary schools, focusing mostly on identification rather than in-depth studies. In addition, various instruments can be leveraged to facilitate the integration of EDP-STEM learning models in primary education. This result found a gap for further research on STEM-based EDP in elementary schools as a trend of scientific contribution related to the use of STEM-based education in elementary schools.

Abstract

The formation of the professionalism of prospective Early Childhood Education (ECE) teachers requires a learning approach that integrates theory and practice contextually. This study aims to evaluate practice-based learning in the Edupreneurship course as a strategy to strengthen the professionalism of prospective ECE teachers. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with an evaluative study design. Data were obtained through pre-tests, learning observations, project documents, and individual student reflections during 16 lecture meetings. The results of the study show five main transformations: (1) change in perception and increased motivation to become edupreneur, (2) strengthening practical competencies through the production of educational media, (3) mastery of digital skills, (4) increasing teamwork collaboration, and (5) resilience and problem-solving ability in facing real challenges. These findings show that education-based entrepreneurship projects not only train entrepreneurial skills, but also form the professional character of prospective early childhood education teachers who are adaptive, creative, and resilient. It is recommended that this model be systematically integrated into the early childhood education curriculum and developed in the context of cross-disciplinary learning in the future.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the formation of social attitudes through character and Islamic Education learning in class IV students of West Jakarta Elementary Schools. This study uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, questionnaires and documentation. Data sources involve teachers and students. Data analysis techniques used the Mliles and Huberman models through the stages of reduction, display, and data verification. The results showed that learning related to the development of social attitudes was not running optimally, due to: 1) the role of teachers who did not comprehensively understand the 2013 curriculum, the teacher did not design learning strategies that focused on increasing the social attitude competencies that existed in core competencies (KI -2) both the media up to the evaluation that measures the development of students' social attitudes, 2) there are still obstacles such as uneven facilities, lack of socialization, teachers and students do not understand the contents of the curriculum as a whole. Meanwhile, the solution in dealing with the problem of implementing the 2013 curriculum in the subjects of character and Islamic Education learning  is: an increase in teacher competency in designing, and developing Learning models that meet the needs of teachers and students, especially those related to social attitude competencies.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence of communication between teachers and parents on the learning outcomes of fraction mathematics for fourth-grade students at SDIT Baiturahman Citra, West Jakarta. The research employed a quantitative correlational method with a total sample of 40 students. Data were collected through questionnaires on teacher-parent communication and tests on fraction mathematics learning outcomes. Data analysis was conducted using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and Spearman correlation test due to non-normal data distribution. The results show that teacher-parent communication is categorized as very high based on students' perceptions, while the learning outcomes in fraction mathematics fall into the good category. However, the correlation test indicated no significant relationship between teacher-parent communication and students’ fraction mathematics learning outcomes (r = -0.105; p = 0.517). This suggests that although communication runs very well, it does not have a direct impact on improving students’ learning outcomes in fractions. The study recommends that schools and parents maintain effective communication and develop more varied teaching methods to enhance students’ learning achievements.

Abstract

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, Technology and Technology (Kemenristekdikti) of Indonesia has launched a new policy in education with the issuance of an independent curriculum. The Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) is one of the main focuses of the independent curriculum with the aim of shaping student character and competencies based on Pancasila values. Teachers need preparation and a deep understanding of concepts in implementing the independent curriculum, especially the project to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students at the elementary school level. However, the facts in the field reveal that there are still many elementary / middle school teachers who do not fully understand the concepts and learning methods that are in accordance with this new curriculum. This can hinder the effectiveness of curriculum implementation in the field. This training and community service activity aims to improve the understanding and competence of elementary school teachers in implementing the Independent Curriculum, with a special focus on the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) in learning. The implementation method of this training activity is directly face-to-face in the classroom. Guided training is a method in community service activities. An active and participatory approach is also used in this training activity with presentation and discussion activities, case studies, learning simulations, P5 project design practices, reflection and feedback. The results of community service activities carried out by the team were considered successful in improving the understanding and ability of teachers in implementing the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5), this is proven in the evaluation data of the pretest and pot-test there was an increase as much as... This service and training activity provides effective evidence in improving teachers' understanding and ability in implementing the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5).
