Abstract

Development of the globalized world of the 21st century brings many changes, especially advances in the world of education. Ethnoscience-based learning is an innovation that integrates local wisdom as a learning resource to achieve learning objectives. Teachers can connect local wisdom possessed by students and then link it to science learning materials so that learning will be more meaningful and fun. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of teachers' understanding of ethnoscience-based learning and its application as a learning resource in learning in elementary schools. The sampling technique was purposive sampling from 8 elementary schools, Kaliwungu Kendal. Data were collected by interview, observation and documentation and analyzed by qualitative descriptive method.  results of data analysis from 8 resource persons, it shows five from eight teachers have not understood specifically about ethnoscience-based learning, and all teachers have used internal ethnoscience as a learning resource. However, of the 8 teachers, only 3 teachers wrote ethnoscience-based learning designs in the lesson plan. This study aims to determine the skills of teachers in ethnoscience-based learning management.

Abstract

Problem: the integration of local wisdom in junior secondary science learning remains limited, contributing to low students’ creative thinking skills. Furthermore, the use of digital teaching materials that support project-based learning is not yet optimal, resulting in less contextual and engaging learning. Objective: this study aimed to develop and examine the feasibility and effectiveness of a Project-Based Learning (PjBL)-based e-booklet on temperature and heat integrated with the local wisdom of Magelang pottery. Method: this research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model and involved an experimental and a control class. The evaluation focused on feasibility (validity, readability, and practicality) and efeftiviness (product and process performance, as well as learning outcomes). Results: the developed e-booklet was found to be valid, practical, and received positive responses from students. Conclusion: the e-booklet was sufficiently effective in enhanving student engagement and creative thinking skills, making it a feasible contextual teaching material for junior secondary science learning.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the urgency of improving the quality of education and learning outcomes for elementary school students to ensure they are relevant to 21st-century competencies. The primary objective of this study was to validate the Inquiry Learning (IL) development model combined with the Deep Learning (DL) approach and to test its effectiveness on students' cognitive learning outcomes. The method used was Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) framework, involving fifth-grade students in five elementary schools as research subjects. Data were collected through expert validation instruments, observations, and learning outcome tests (pre-test and post-test), which were then analyzed using N-Gain inferential statistics. The results showed that the IL-DL model was deemed highly valid and practical by experts and practitioners. Key findings revealed a significant improvement in cognitive learning outcomes; in a small-scale trial, the completion rate jumped dramatically from 30% in the pre-test to 95% in the post-test. This consistent effectiveness was reinforced by a large-scale trial, with a completion rate of 94.6%. Furthermore, the average N-Gain Score (g) of 0.78 (High category) and the effectiveness level of 78.54% (Effective category) confirm that the synergy between structured inquiry and in-depth learning successfully mitigates the phenomenon of shallow learning. This study concludes that the IL-DL model is a transformative solution worthy of adoption to improve the quality of learning and student competencies in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of students’ interest in learning chemistry, particularly in the topic of carbon compounds and macromolecules, which are often perceived as abstract, complex, and difficult to understand. Such perceptions frequently lead to passive learning behavior and limited conceptual engagement. To address this issue, an instructional innovation was implemented through the use of chemical qasidah media, which integrates elements of art, local culture, and religiosity into the chemistry learning process. The study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two iterative cycles involving planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants were 30 eleventh-grade science students at MA NU Tasywiquth Thullab Salafiyah (TBS) Kudus during the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected using a validated learning interest questionnaire, structured observation sheets, and supporting documentation. Quantitative data were analyzed using percentage techniques, while qualitative data were examined through reflective analysis. The findings revealed a consistent increase in students’ learning interest, rising from 56% in the pre-cycle (moderate category) to 71% in the first cycle (sufficient category), and reaching 84% in the second cycle (high category). The improvement was particularly evident in students’ attention, participation, and enthusiasm during learning activities. These results indicate that the integration of chemical qasidah as a culturally responsive and affective-based learning medium is effective in enhancing students’ interest in learning complex chemistry concepts

Abstract

Low science literacy is one of the challenges in education in Indonesia. Various learning innovations are one of the efforts to increase students' interest and science literacy. This study aims to systematically review trends, approaches, and innovations in technology-based and contextual science learning in improving students' science literacy. The method used was a systematic literature review of 26 selected articles from various databases, which were selected using specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of the analysis show that the trend of publications has been increasing since 2023 with various innovations in science literacy learning. The most widely used learning approaches include technology-based learning, outdoor learning, science experiments, social science issues, and local culture or ethnoscience. The learning innovations that have been developed include science curricula, VR media, interactive video media, E-LKPD, and so on. The conclusion of this study confirms that science literacy can be improved through various learning innovations to increase students' interest and motivation in learning science. Technology-based and contextual science learning has proven to be a strategic response to the challenge of low science literacy.

Abstract

Perkembangan pesat teknologi informasi dan komunikasi (TIK) telah membawa dampak signifikan dalam dunia pendidikan, memberikan kesempatan untuk menciptakan metode pembelajaran yang lebih interaktif melalui penggunaan aplikasi berbasis Android. Aplikasi Android memungkinkan siswa untuk mengakses materi pelajaran dengan lebih fleksibel, mendukung pembelajaran yang lebih disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan individu, serta memfasilitasi pemahaman konsep-konsep abstrak dalam Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA). Namun, tantangan seperti keterbatasan keterampilan pengajaran dan kurangnya akses perangkat di beberapa daerah menjadi kendala dalam penerapan teknologi ini secara maksimal. Diharapkan bahwa penggunaan aplikasi Android sebagai bahan ajar dapat memperbaiki pemahaman siswa, menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang lebih menarik, serta meningkatkan literasi digital dan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Systematic Literature Review (SLR) dengan mengumpulkan data dari 50 artikel yang relevan, yang diterbitkan antara tahun 2020 hingga 2025, yang diperoleh melalui Google Scholar dan aplikasi Publish or Perish. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media aplikasi Android sebagai bahan ajar interaktif sangat efektif untuk meningkatkan motivasi, keaktifan, minat, pemahaman, dan hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

Literasi menjadi kemampuan penting dalam membangun generasi yang unggul dan adaptif terhadap perubahan zaman. Namun faktanya lapangan menunjukkan kemampuan literasi di Indonesia masih mengandung tantangan yang cukup serius, sehingga baik pemerintah maupun sekolah perlu memberikan dukungan. Untuk mengembangkan kemampuan literasi diperlukan bekal minat baca yang baik dari peserta didik. Untuk itu diperlukan media yang menarik, kontekstual, sesuai dengan karakteristik dan kebutuhan peserta didik. Salah satu media membaca yang menarik adalah storybook . Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji studi pengembangan buku cerita pada rentang tahun 2019 hingga 2024. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Systematic Literature Review (SLR) yang disusun berdasarkan alur PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Item for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses) dengan proses pengidentifikasian (identification) , penyaringan (screening) , kelayakan (eligibility) , dan inklusi akhir (included) . Melalui tahapan tersebut sebanyak 107 artikel dieksklusi sehingga menghasilkan sintesis data dari delapan artikel yang telah memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar penelitian menggunakan metode R&D yang fokus pada peningkatan kemampuan literasi, minat membaca, nilai-nilai karakter dan keterampilan abad 21. Pengembangan buku cerita masih didominasi media cetak yang memadukan teks, ilustrasi berupa gambar berwarna, aktivitas dan model pembelajaran. Cerita pada buku cerita banyak memuat unsur-unsur budaya lokal, sains, materi pembelajaran, hingga integrasi nilai ketuhanan dan lingkungan. Namun, masih ditemukan berbagai keterbatasan pada pengembangan buku cerita pada aspek konten, desain visual, fitur tambahan dan teknologi dalam diagram fishbone . Melalui kajian kajian literatur sistematis ini dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa buku cerita merupakan media pembelajaran yang efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran Sekolah Dasar, meskipun masih memerlukan penyempurnaan pada penelitian selanjutnya. Penelitian ini memberikan landasan bagi peneliti untuk melakukan pengembangan buku cerita selanjutnya yang lebih inovatif, berdasarkan kebutuhan peserta didik dan mendukung literasi untuk memenuhi tuntutan perkembangan abad 21.

Abstract

Saat ini, pengembangan bahan ajar IPA berbasis Learning Cycle 5E menunjukkan tren peningkatan dengan variasi tujuan pembelajaran dan jenis bahan ajar yang semakin beragam. Kondisi ini menimbulkan kebutuhan untuk memetakan arah dan fokus penelitian secara lebih sistematis. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan memetakan tren pengembangan bahan ajar IPA berbasis Learning Cycle 5E berdasarkan jenjang pendidikan, jenis bahan ajar, domain materi, dan fokus penelitian. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, metode yang digunakan adalah kajian literatur sistematis dengan pedoman PRISMA melalui penelusuran artikel menggunakan Publish or Perish pada database Scopus dan Google Scholar. Artikel yang dianalisis dibatasi pada jurnal terindeks SINTA 1–4 dan Scopus Q1–Q4 periode 2020–2025. Dari 144 artikel yang ditelusuri, 25 memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pengembangan bahan ajar didominasi jenjang SMA, berbentuk bahan ajar interaktif, dan mayoritas pada domain fisika. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut diketahui bahwa pengembangan bahan ajar IPA berbasis Learning Cycle 5E masih berfokus pada validasi produk dan belum banyak mengkaji uji efektivitas terhadap aspek kognitif dan nonkognitif siswa. Implikasinya, penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan untuk mengeksplorasi efektivitas serta dampak bahan ajar terhadap aspek kognitif dan nonkognitif siswa di berbagai jenjang pendidikan dan domain materi IPA.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of ethnoscience and physics perspectives in determining the Hijri calendar in Kudus City, Central Java. Using a qualitative descriptive approach through observation, interviews, and document analysis, this research reveals that the Kudus community harmonizes scientific reasoning (hisab) with empirical and religious practices (rukyat) based on local wisdom. The findings show that the hisab imkan rukyah haqiqi tahqiqi method applied in the Menara Kudus Almanac represents an advanced traditional model that aligns with modern astronomical calculations involving the Moon's synodic cycle, celestial geometry, and atmospheric refraction. Scientifically, this study contributes to understanding how local ethnoscience can complement and contextualize formal knowledge of physics and astronomy. Practically, it provides insights for developing culture-based science education, particularly in astronomy learning, and offers empirical references for policy formulation on Hijri calendar standardization. However, the study is limited to the Kudus context, suggesting the need for comparative research across other Indonesian regions and further validation using digital simulation or optical instrumentation to enrich the integration between local wisdom and scientific astronomy.
