Abstract

This study examines the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program in Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKI) from ontological, epistemological, and axiological perspectives. The research aims to understand the unique characteristics of MBKM and its impact on Islamic higher education in Indonesia. Employing a qualitative literature review methodology, data were collected through observations and documentation related to MBKM policies and their implementation in PTKI. Data analysis involved data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing/verification. Findings indicate that ontologically, MBKM differs from conventional curricula through its flexibility, direct student engagement with real-world contexts, and emphasis on contextual learning. These factors set MBKM apart from more static and rigidly structured curricula. Epistemologically, MBKM is grounded in an educational philosophy that emphasizes academic freedom, innovation, and student involvement in practical activities. This includes curriculum adjustments based on industrial and societal needs, ensuring high relevance and quality of education. Axiologically, MBKM significantly enhances students' practical skills and soft skills, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. The program's relevance is evident in bridging the gap between theory and practice, and between education and industry. Benefits of MBKM include improved graduate employability, expanded professional networks, and tangible contributions to national development through humanitarian and entrepreneurial projects. These advantages highlight MBKM as an adaptive and responsive educational model to global changes. The study concludes that MBKM has significant potential to enhance the quality of higher education at PTKI and contribute substantially to societal development.

The relationship between science and humans is close. Philosophically, there are differences in education between Islamic and Western education. Islamic education sees students as creatures of Allah and society who have potential in accordance with their nature, while Western education sees students as free individuals with their potential. The aim of this research is to determine the history of the development of the philosophy of science in Islam and its reasoning. This research uses a qualitative research approach with a historical approach. Data was collected through literature research and other data sources from books and other relevant documents. The research results are presented in the form of a story that is easy to understand using narrative analysis techniques. Abstract

This research aims to analyze Thomas Kuhn's concept of scientific revolution and explore its relevance to Islamic education. Kuhn, an American philosopher renowned for his work “The Structure of Scientific Revolutions,” posited that scientific development occurs not through evolutionary processes but via paradigm shifts or scientific revolutions. He emphasized that scientific knowledge doesn't accumulate cumulatively; instead, there is a drastic shift in perspectives and methods when an old paradigm is replaced by a new one. Kuhn also underscored the importance of understanding the socio-cultural context in scientific development. His concept has significantly impacted our understanding of the dynamics of scientific progress and knowledge advancement. Therefore, it is crucial to examine the logical causality between the concept of scientific revolution and its implications for Islamic education. Through a literature review utilizing a descriptive-analytical approach, the findings suggest that Kuhn’s ideas can be linked to Islamic education through three avenues: the sacralization of knowledge, the scientific presentation of religious teachings, and a shift in the orientation of Islamic education. The Structure of Scientific Revolutions.”

Abstract

This research explores the views of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) towards transabled individuals and UAD's role in rejecting transabled individuals. Transabled refers to individuals who desire physical disability or engage in self-destructive behavior. This research focuses on the role of Islamic education through Al-Islam and Muhammadiyah (AIK) learning at UAD in forming attitudes towards the transabled. The research method uses a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews as a data collection technique and Paulo Freire’s critical education theory as a data analysis technique. Research respondents comprised students, lecturers, and administrative staff in the Public Health Sciences (IKM) study program, Faculty of Public Health (FKM) UAD. The research results show that IKM FKM UAD has an active role in rejecting the transabled concept. The role can be seen through the problem-solving approach to AIK learning in the IKM FKM UAD study program, which provides an understanding of physical disabilities within Islamic values and teaches the importance of accepting the body as God's creation with gratitude. Apart from that, AIK learning also builds a gratitude paradigm by creating an environment that utilizes individual well-being for both students who do not have physical limitations and those with disabilities. Local wisdom also plays a role in preventing transability with the values of civility and social righteousness. AIK learning also encourages discussion about ethical considerations surrounding body integrity and self-identity. This perspective allows students to consider the social, psychological, and ethical impacts of changing God’s creation or engaging in intentionally destructive behavior.

Abstract

The study investigates the implementation of the values of Islām wasaṭiyyah in the textbook of Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam for the 6th Grade of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Indonesia. By library research using content analysis, the authors conclude that the values of Islām wasaṭiyyah are very relevant to the character education that is currently being rolled out and promoted by the Indonesian government. There are nine values of Islām wasaṭiyyah demonstrated through the storytelling in the textbook: tawassuṭ (taking the middle path), tasāmuḥ (tolerance), musāwah (egalitarian/non-discrimination), shūrā (deliberations), i’tidāl (straight and firm), iṣlāḥ (reform), aulawiyyah (prioritizing priorities), taṭāwur wa ibtikār (dynamic and innovative), and taḥaḍḍur (civilized). The authors suggest that the textbook’s Core Competencies and Basic Competencies need to be expanded to cover all the values included in the story. In addition, proportionally, all the values need to be put because there is no value explained to be much more dominant than others.
