Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the shadow and tell method in teaching English-speaking skills to eighth-grade students. Using the Show and Tell method, students are given the opportunity to explain an item that is engaging in increasing their interest in practicing speaking in class. A pre-experimental research design was used with one group pre-test and post-test involving 30 students. The sample was chosen by applying cluster random sampling technique. The data of students"™ achievement in speaking were collected through pre-test and post-test. These data were quantitatively analyzed, and the results showed that the t-test was higher than the t-table, and the effect size score indicated that the Show and Tell method had a strong effect. The results revealed that the Show and Tell method can be used to teach students"™ English-speaking skills. Using objects such as photos and people, the researcher found that students were engaged in speaking English because they were using things they enjoyed, such as classroom items, classmates, or favorite animals. As a result, teaching English speaking skill to students through the Show and Tell method can be enjoyable.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not the EGRA (Experience, Generalization, Reinforcement, and Application) technique had a significant effect on how the eighth-grade students at SMPN 1 Sekayam were taught the simple past tense. The investigation was conducted as a pre-experimental design. 30 students from VIII A were selected as the sample for this study using cluster sampling. The outcome of the data analysis showed that the value of the students' pre - test and post-test varied. The pretest's mean score was 32.00, whereas the posttest's mean score was 84.00. It indicates that the pupils understood the simple past tense well after using the EGRA method to teach them. Furthermore, the result of the paired-sample test t-test showed .000 which was 0.05. The results showed that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. The findings showed that the EGRA Technique significantly affects the teaching of simple past tense.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran komunikasi gender pada profesi jurnalis di TVRI Sulawesi Selatan. Metode penelitian menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dan tipe penelitian kualitatif deskritptif. Informan lima orang dengan teknik pengumpulan data adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan teori Genderlect Style oleh Deborah Tannen, percakapan publik versus pribadi, jurnalis laki-laki cenderung tegas dan profesional meskipun rentan terhadap masalah. Sementara, jurnalis perempuan menciptakan suasana nyaman dengan konsep diri yang positif. Perbedaan juga terlihat dalam penyampaian cerita, di mana laki-laki menggunakan bahasa lugas dan informatif, sementara perempuan lebih menonjolkan emosi dan koneksi. Selain itu dalam proses mendengarkan jurnalis perempuan lebih mudah tersentuh, berbeda dengan jurnalis laki-laki yang akan bersikap lebih objektif. Kemudian saat mengajukan pertanyaan, jurnalis perempuan menggunakan pendekatan empati dan kenyamanan narasumber, sedangkan jurnalis laki-laki lebih fokus pada tujuan dengan pertanyaan strategis. Namun dalam lima konteks yang disebutkan, tidak ditemukan perbedaan gender dalam konteks konflik, baik laki- laki maupun perempuan menunjukkan keberanian yang setara.

Abstract

Musik merupakan salah satu sarana yang dapat digunakan oleh setiap individu untuk menyampaikan komunikasi dengan cara yang berbeda, yaitu melalui suara karena salah satu tujuan musik sebagai media berkomunikasi. Lagu yang terbentuk dari hubungan antara unsur musik dengan unsur syair atau lirik lagu merupakan media yang digunakan dalam menyampaikan pesan oleh komunikator kepada komunikan dalam jumlah yang besar melalui media massa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui makna dalam lirik lagu. Dimana dalam sebuah lirik lagu memiliki sebuah pesan yang ingin disampaikan pencipta dan penyanyi kepada pendegarnya. Pada penelitian ini, menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan menggunakan analisis semiotika dari Ferdinand de Saussure dimana objek yang digunakan adalah sebuah lirik lagu dengan membagi keseluruhan lirik lagu menjadi beberapa bait dan selanjutnya perbait akan dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori semiotika dari Ferdinand de Saussure. Model teori dari Saussure lebih memfokuskan perhatian langsung kepada signified (petanda) dan signifier (penanda) serta hubungan sintagmatik dan paradigmatik. Hasil penelitian dari lirik lagu "Komang" bahwa lagu dapat dijadikan media komunikasi ekspresi cinta yang mencerminkan kerinduan dan kekaguman yang mendalam terhadap suatu objek. Ditemukan juga hasil penelitian terkait pengaruh sosial yang dirasakan masyarakat berupa perasaan emosional tentang perjuangan dan harapan.

Abstract

Hypertension is an incurable condition; thus, it is essential to control it by improving patient self-management, particularly through education. This study seeks to assess the impact of instruction through flipcharts on self-management in individuals with hypertension. The study employs a quasi-experimental design featuring pre- and post-tests, lacking a control group. This study's population comprises hypertension patients, with a sample size of 21 respondents from the Simpang Tiga Community Health Center in Pekanbaru City, gathered between May 20 and June 3, 2024. The research instrument employed is the Hypertension Self-Management Behavior Questionnaire. This study was executed during two meetings within a fortnight. The analysis included a paired t-test. The research findings indicated that the mean self-management score prior to the intervention was 85.90, whereas the mean self-management score subsequent to the intervention rose to 114.62. The paired test findings revealed a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05). It can be stated that teaching utilizing flipcharts influences the self-management capabilities of patients with hypertension. This research aims to establish flipchart media as a tool for disseminating information and health education to the population. Further studies should explore health education interventions utilizing flipchart media for more non-communicable diseases.

Abstract

Hipertensi menyebabkan kematian sedikitnya 8 juta orang setiap tahun di seluruh dunia. Perubahan gaya hidup penderita hipertensi sangat penting dalam pengelolaan hipertensi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh edukasi terhadap motivasi perubahan gaya hidup pasien hipertensi di Puskesmas Simpang Tiga Kota Pekanbaru. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain Quasi Experiment dengan pretest and post test without control. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 19 orang dengan tehnik poposive sampling. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan video edukasi tentang hipertensi berdurasi 3 menit dan diberikan dua kali dalam seminggu. Motivasi diukur sebelum dan sesudah edukasi menggunakan Treatment Self-Regulation Questionnaire (TSRQ). Analisis univariat menunjukkan rata-rata motivasi sebelum edukasi sebesar 80,56 dan meningkat menjadi 96,95 setelah edukasi. Hasil uji paired sample t-test menunjukkan p value 0,000 < 0,05 dapat disimpulkan ada pengaruh edukasi terhadap motivasi perubahan gaya hidup pasien hipertensi di Puskesmas Simpang Tiga Kota Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh (1) kurangnya aktivitas siswa dalam proses pembelajaran; (2) siswa tidak berani mengungkapkan pendapatnya; (3) proses pembelajaran yang dilakukan oleh guru masih monoton sehingga membosankan bagi siswa. Berdasarkan tiga hal tersebut, peneliti mencoba menggunakan pembelajaran kooperatif berbasis masalah (Problem Based Learning/PBL) untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika. Analisis data terhadap pelaksanaan pembelajaran menggunakan Cooperative Problem Based Learning diperoleh melalui lembar observasi guru. Berdasarkan penelitian observasi oleh pengamat, pada siklus 1 jumlah skor yang diperoleh adalah 46 dengan tingkat penguasaan guru 60,5% yang termasuk dalam kategori cukup. Sementara itu, pada siklus 2, jumlah skor meningkat menjadi 59, dengan tingkat penguasaan guru 78%, yang masuk dalam kategori baik. Dengan demikian, terdapat peningkatan sebesar 17,5% dalam penggunaan model pembelajaran Cooperative Problem Based Learning oleh guru antara siklus 1 dan siklus 2. Data peningkatan hasil belajar siswa diperoleh dari tes akhir pembelajaran. Peningkatan ini terlihat dari persentase siswa yang mencapai ketuntasan pada setiap siklus. Pada siklus 1, terdapat 13 siswa yang tuntas dengan persentase 65% dan rata-rata nilai 68. Sedangkan pada siklus 2, semua siswa dinyatakan tuntas dengan persentase 100% dan rata-rata nilai 98. Dengan demikian, terdapat peningkatan hasil belajar dari siklus 1 ke siklus 2 sebesar 30 poin. Secara keseluruhan, pada siklus 2 terjadi peningkatan baik dalam hasil observasi guru maupun hasil belajar siswa dibandingkan dengan siklus 1. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh pada siklus 2, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran menggunakan Cooperative Problem Based Learning (PBL) pada materi logika matematika di kelas X ATP 2 SMKN 1 Sadaniang dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe language learning strategies used by the science 4 students whose English scores of 80 and above. The subject of this study was the successful English learners from the Eleventh Grade of Science 4 Students in SMAN 05 Pontianak. They are 10 students from Science 4. The design of this research was a case study. The data were collected through a questionnaire to determine the students"™ English learning strategies and interview guidelines to get detailed information on English learning strategies used by successful students. The result of the analysis showed, the strategy implemented by the students had improved their English skills. Each student had their distinctive ways and styles in English learning strategies. There were six types of learning strategies used by the students include direct study. The direct study covers memory, cognitive, compensation, and the indirect study covers metacognitive, affective, and social strategy. The findings show that the most dominant strategy used by the students was an indirect strategy rather than a direct strategy. The use of indirect strategies includes metacognitive, affective, and social strategy as shown by the questionnaire mean score at 4,25. Further, the use of direct strategies, including memory, cognitive, and compensation strategy as shown by the questionnaire mean score at 3,91.

Abstract

The research aims to determine the role of information and communication technology in community empowerment at the South Sulawesi Provincial Social Service. The type of research used is qualitative, descriptive in nature. The data collection techniques used were observation, documentation and interviews. The results of the research show that the role of information and communication technology has been carried out optimally in empowering the community. In this case, the role of information technology and communication in terms of informational, organizational, social development, economic development, political participation and cultural identity can be said to be effective in conveying the information provided on the website. Although there are still some people who are sometimes still hampered by an unstable network. However, the information that has been provided is in accordance with what the community needs.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aimed to analyze and determine the stages of the media agenda on the omnibus law policy setting agenda. The research method used  descriptive qualitative with Robert M Entman's framing analysis on the Mata Najwa episode tv guess work  program . The research informants consisted of workers, practitioners, academics and journalists. Agenda setting contained policy issues as a result of disagreements between actors about the direction of an action that taken by the government. Everett and James Dearing viewed that agenda setting was a linear process consisting of three stages, namely the media agenda, public agenda, and policy agenda. Issues that were considered important in the mass media were certainly considered important by the public, one of which was the omnibus law on job creation. Based on the results of the research, it was known that the media agenda on the omnibus of work copyright law that was broadcast contained 3 aspects, firstly, visibility that the large frequency of the topics aired had an influence on public interest in labor issues which were in the spotlight due to conflicting articles, secondly, audience salience that the relevance of news topics raises various angles. views that could trigger public confusion about the truth of the policy, and the third valance that the way Mata Najwa Program managed its news was able to attract public attention.Keywords: Agenda Setting, Framing, Omnibus Law
