Abstract

Learning environment can influence the development of the academic and psychological abilities of every human being in his life, including children. This study aims to analyze environmental-based learning as a source of learning for children. The research is qualitative research, and it was carried out at the Cerdas Chilhood Education Program in Sukorejo-Kendal. The subjects of the study were the teacher of Cerdas Chilhood Education Program in Sukorejo-Kendal. Data analysis was done using an interactive model. The results of the study showed that the planning of learning in utilizing the environment of RPS (Semester Program), RPPM (Weekly Program), and RPPH (Daily Program). The implementation of learning in using the environment as a learning resource includes the implementation of opening activities, main activities and closing activities. Assessment of learning in utilizing the environment as a learning resource includes checklists, anecdotal notes, and artworks. The environment used as a learning resource starts from planning, implementation, and assessment including three types of environments, namely the natural environment, social environment, and artificial environment. The obstacles in applying environment-based learning as a source of learning are climates and location of Sukorejo village in a mountainous area that have fairly high rainfall intensity so that sometimes the plans that have been made cannot be implemented and assessed. The participation of parents, teachers, students, and the community is needed to carry out maximum environment-based learning.

Abstract

Studies in forgiveness topic have been focused mostly on individual context. Therefore, this study intended to prove that reality approach-based psychoeducational group format with modeling symbolic technique was effective to improve students? forgiveness. The study used repeated measure design with pretest, posttest, and follow up and involved the tenth grade students of SMA Kesatrian 1 Semarang amounted to 273 students. The data of the students were collected using Heartland Forgiveness Scale (HFS). After the intervention, the researchers obtained the mean of students? forgiveness in pretest of (M = 41.33; SD = 01.00), posttest of (M = 61.56 SD = 2.35) and follow-up of (M = 63.11, SD = 2.76). Repeated Measure Test Results proved that symbolic modeling technique was effective to improve students' forgiveness (F (1.8) = 508.76; p <0.001). This study confirmed that the reality approach-based psychoeducational group with symbolic modeling technique effectively improved students? forgivenes.

Abstract

This study was intended to analyze the effect of empathy on cyberbullying mediated by moral disengagement. It involved 310 university students as the sample selected using proportionate stratified random sampling. Their data were collected using Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) scale, Mechanism of Moral Disengagement Scale, and Cyberbullying scale. The results of bootstrapping bias-corrected analysis showed that empathy was negatively predicted by cyberbullying and moral disengagement. Meanwhile, the results of mediation analysis indicated that there was a relationship between empathy and cyberbullying mediated by moral disengagement. Regarding these findings, this study suggests that guidance and counseling service should be aimed at minimizing cyberbullying.

Abstract

Penelitian pengembangan ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan instrumen dengan cara ujicoba dalam bentuk model dan instrumen, berdasarkan pertimbangan pakar dan penilaian dari praktisi/pengguna yang dilakukan melalui FGD dapat menggambarkan keterpenuhan validitas konstruk, tingkat reliabilitas, dan kriteria fit model yang pengukurannya dapat disimpulkan telah memenuhi syarat sebagai salah satu model dan instrumen yang dapat digunakan dalam evaluasi program bimbingan dan konseling SMP Kab. Kudus sehingga dapat menjadi acuan dalam guru bimbingan dan konseling/ konselor sekolah dalam meningkatkan keefektifan kinerjanya. Dengan ujicoba instrumen sebanyak 50 guru bimbingan dan konseling SMP se Kabupaten Kudus meliputi 9 kecamatan diperoleh hasil reliabitas 0,952. Dengan demikian, model CSE-UCLA dapat digunakan untuk mengevaluasi program layanan bimbingan dan konseling dan dapat menjadi alat ukur efektivitas kinerja guru bimbingan dan konseling. Saran yang dapat diberikan kepada peneliti lain yang akan meneliti tentang evaluasi CSE-UCLA atau yang akan melanjutkan penelitian tentang evaluasi CSE-UCLA yang penulis lakukan, alangkah lebih baiknya apabila melakukan uji coba dengan kawasan yang lebih besar dengan mengujikan uji efektivitasnya sehingga dapat terlihat dengan jelas efektivitas modelnya. This development research aims to build instrument by counducting an experiment using models and instruments under consideration of experts and the assessment from the practicioners/users. Such instrument as conducted through an FGD so the result fulfill the requirements of constructions validity, reliability levelsare qualified as one of the model and instruments can be used as evaluation of guidance and counseling program at junior high school in Kudus. Hopefully, these model and instruments can be used asa areference by wich the guidance and counseling he guidance and counseling teachers of Junior High School in Kudus can improve their performance effectiveness. The sample are 50 junior high school guidance and counseling teachers form 9 kecamatan (districts) of Kudus within reliability 0,952. Not only the CSE-UCLA models is an appropriate model for evaluating the guidance and counseling service and become the measurement in measuring performance effectiveness of the guidance and counseling teachers. For those who wont to conduct a research on CSE-UCLA evaluation or continue this research, it will be much better if it is conducted in wider area so that tehe effectiveness of the model will be more vivid.

Abstract

When completing final project, students are faced with many obstacles, such as confusion in determining the topic and difficulties in finding lecturers. Hardiness has an important role to persistently manage and overcome the obstacles. Thus, this study aimed to test the effectiveness of group counseling with self-instruction and cognitive restructuring techniques to improve hardiness of students who were completing their final projects majoring in Islamic Guidance and Counseling program in IAIN Kudus. This study used pretest-posttest control group design involving 21 students selected using purposive sampling. To collect the data, this study used hardiness scale. The results of Wilcoxon test showed that self-instruction technique effectively improved students’ hardiness of (Z= -2.201, P< 0.05) as well as cognitive restructuring technique effectively improved students’ hardiness of (Z= -2.371, P< 0.05). Regarding this findings, both techniques are suggested to be independently applied to improve students’ hardiness.

Abstract

Career maturity is important since it enables students to choose the right career and prepare to enter workforce. Lack of career maturity will cause the students have no information about career or further study after graduation. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the effectiveness of psychoeducational group with problem solving and self-management techniques to improve the career maturity of 24 students of Public Vocational High School (SMK Negeri) in Semarang. This experimental study used randomized pretest posttest comparison group design. Based on Wilcoxon and Kruskal Wallis analysis results, the psychoeducational group with problem solving technique, self-management technique, and the combination of those techniques gained improvement in terms of career maturity. In details, the psychoeducational group with problem solving technique obtained better improvement than that of self-management and the combination of those techniques. Finally, this study recommends the use of problem-solving technique to improve the career maturity of Vocational High School students.

Abstract

The workloads students have in school make them experience eustress and low life satisfaction. Therefore, this study attempted to prove the effectiveness of CBT group counseling with stress inoculation training to improve students’ eustress and life satisfaction. Of 28 students chosen using purposive sampling technique, Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design was implemented. Their data were collected using eustress scale and life satisfaction scale. The results of repeated measures mixed manova test proved that stress inoculation training was effective to improve eustress (F (1. 26) = 485.06, p <0.01) and life satisfaction (F (1. 26) = 67.06 p <0,01). In this way, counselors should focus on coping skills in stress inoculation training, such as breathing relaxation and stress management

Abstract

Student’s work readiness is related to individual abilities such as creative thinking, problem solving skills, and self-efficacy. However, the readiness is sometimes not matched by the expected requirements from industrial world. Hence, this study strived to analyze the relationship between creative thinking, problem solving skills, and self-efficacy with the work readiness of Public Vocational High School students in Semarang City. Regarding sample, this study involved 372 students in 6 Public Vocational High School in Semarang City chosen using Cluster Random Sampling. The sample data were collected through the instruments of creative thinking scale, Problem Solving Inventory (PSI), General Self-Efficacy (GSE), and work readiness scale. The findings showed that; creative thinking, problem solving skills and self-efficacy had positive relationships with work readiness. In details, self-efficacy variable owned the strongest relationship among other variables. Thus, the higher the creative thinking, problem solving skills, and self-efficacy students have, the higher work readiness in facing the industrial world and the world of work would be.

Abstract

Students who have high self-efficacy can design career plans and show persistent efforts. However, this efficacy is not always owned by every single student since there found many students having difficulties in making career decision. Thus, this study tried to examine the effectiveness of psychoeducational group with symbolic modelling and bibliotherapy techniques to improve the career decision making of Junior High School students. In carrying out the study, the researchers employed randomized pretest-posttest comparison group design by involving 42 students divided into three experimental groups. Students’ data were collected using career decision making self-efficacy scale. Based on Wilcoxon test results, the implementation of the psychoeducational groups with symbolic modelling technique, bibliotherapy, and the combination of both techniques were effective to improve students’ career decision making self-efficacy. In details, Kruskal wallis test showed that symbolic modelling and bibliotherapy techniques were more effective than their combination to improve the career decision making self-efficacy of SMP Negeri 6 Bogor students. According to these findings, counselors are recommended to apply symbolic modelling and bibliotherapy techniques separately to improve students’ career decision making self-efficacy

Abstract

Life satisfaction refers to one’s assessment of life in general. Low life satisfaction leads to negative impacts to a person’s mental health condition. This study identified and analyzed the relationship between the future time perspective and life satisfaction through hope in 567 state high school students in Semarang City. Data were collected using the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), Synder Hope Scale (SHS) and Future Time Perspective Scale (FTPS). The results of the analysis showed that hope fully mediated the relationship between future time perspective and students’ life satisfaction. This study found that students with good future perspective were satisfied with life because they were able to make route in achieving their goals. The results of this study can be used as insights in counseling intervention and for further research.
