Abstract

Objective: The rapid development of digital technology in the tourism sector needs to be balanced with the provision of globally accessible information by bilingual languages, particularly Indonesian and English. This study aims to examine the importance of sustainable bilingual digital information in tourism education, supported by collaboration between universities and local governments. Method : This study uses a mixed-method with convergent parallel design.Data collection techniques in the form of observation and semi-structured interviews. The research subjects consisted of 62 respondents, including government officials staff, language lecturers, teachers, and the community of bilingual digital applications user . Results: The results show 83% respondens stated that bilingual digital applications, such as Tangerang Gemilang application contributes significantly to increase the effectiveness of tourism promotion and expand access to information for users. In addition, collabora-tion between universities and tourism agencies is considered crucial in supporting comprehensive and internationally oriented local tourism development. Novelty: This study confirms that sustainable bilingual digi-tal innovation, through institutional synergy, has a strategic role in strengthening tourism education and the competitiveness of tourist destinations.

Abstract

Objective:The integration of technology in English language teaching, particularly in English for Specific Purposes (ESP), has transformed classroom practices in higher education. However, students often face difficulties in speaking English fluently within their specialized subjects. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of PowerPoint (PPT) as a medium to enhance students’ speaking skills through oral presentations, with a focus on ESP for Business Law, an area that has received limited empirical attention. Method : This research used qualitative approach. Data were collected via observations, questionnaires, and documentation from 48 students enrolled in an English for Business Law course. Results: Findings revealed that (1) PPT effectively supports students in improving their oral communication skills, and (2) students’ speaking performance increased after conducting group presentations using PPT. Novelty: The study’s contribution lies in demonstrating how structured PPT-based presentations can enhance subject-specific oral proficiency in ESP classrooms. These results suggest that lecturers and students should consider integrating PPT in oral presentations to promote language development and engagement in higher education settings.

Abstract

This study explored how technology integration and classroom atmosphere contribute to students’ speaking development in an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, the study involved 11 fourth-semester students from the English Education Department at Universitas Muhammadiyah Tangerang. Data were collected through classroom observations and a ten-item yes/no questionnaire. The findings indicate that students perceived technology as useful for speaking practice. All participants reported that technology helped improve pronunciation, provided speaking models, and made practice more varied. Most students also reported greater motivation and confidence. Regarding classroom atmosphere, 72.7% stated that a friendly classroom reduced their fear of making mistakes, while 90.9% reported that a comfortable classroom helped them speak with fewer worries. Classroom observations showed that students were more engaged when lecturers created relaxed, interactive, and supportive learning environments, although participation remained uneven. The findings suggest that technology integration and classroom atmosphere can function as complementary factors in supporting speaking learning. The study implies that speaking instruction should combine digital resources with supportive classroom practices to create more varied and comfortable opportunities for English speaking practice.

Abstract

Di era digital yang semakin canggih, bahasa bukan lagi sekedar alat komunikasi tetapi juga mencerminkan identitas dan status sosial. Penggunaan bahasa Inggris semakin mendominasi berbagai aspek kehidupan masyarakat Indonesia tidak terkecuali dibidang kuliner. Tidak sedikit resep masakan yang memiliki bahasa campuran (Bahasa Indonesia dan Inggris). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dinamika penggunaan istilah serapan asing dalam resep masakan modern sebagai bentuk representasi prestise sosial dan sebagai tantangan dalam komunikasi linguistik di kalangan pembaca resep khususnya ibu rumah tangga. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah fenomenologi dengan pendekatan kualitatif melalui observasi dan wawancara. Analisis data dilakukan melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa resep masakan yang di dalamnya terdapat istilah asing terlihat lebih keren dan mewah. Walaupun terkadang terdapat tantangan linguistik dalam penerapannya. Namun para pembaca resep khususnya Ibu Rumah Tangga dapat menggunakan Google Translate untuk mencari tahu makna dari kosakata asing tersebut dengan mudah dan cepat.
