Abstract

This research investigates the influence of cultural factors, social norms, and social support on the spread of infectious diseases in communities in Indonesia through a quantitative analysis. The structural equation model (SEM) employed in this study examines the complex interplay between these sociocultural elements and their impact on the transmission of infectious diseases. Results indicate significant positive associations between cultural factors and the spread of infectious diseases, social norms and disease transmission, and unexpectedly, social support and disease spread. These findings challenge conventional assumptions, emphasizing the need for nuanced and culturally sensitive public health interventions. The study contributes valuable insights to the understanding of infectious disease dynamics within diverse communities and informs targeted strategies for effective mitigation.

Abstract

The dynamics of drug addiction prevention and treatment initiatives in East Java, Indonesia's metropolitan neighborhoods are examined in this study. The study uses structural equation modeling to examine the connections between economic circumstances, social support, health service accessibility, and efforts for drug misuse prevention and treatment, utilizing a sample of 140 people. Strong validity and reliability are demonstrated by the measurement methodology, confirming the effectiveness of the chosen indicators. The results of the structural model demonstrate complex relationships: social support emerges as a key component, although economic variables and health services show favorable links. The study's recommendations for multimodal interventions that tackle economic inequality, improve healthcare accessibility, and bolster community-based initiatives have consequences for both policy and practice. Despite its limitations, this study provides important new understandings of the intricate field of drug misuse intervention treatments and paves the way for more research.

Abstract

Mental health disorders among adolescents in West Java have become a growing concern, impacting their well-being and future prospects. This study aimed to investigate the genetic factors contributing to these disorders, utilizing genomic analysis and qualitative exploration of lived experiences. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including quantitative surveys, genomic analysis, and qualitative interviews. The study comprised a diverse sample of adolescents from various socio-economic backgrounds and age groups in West Java. The quantitative analysis revealed a significant prevalence of mental health disorders, with approximately 35% reporting symptoms of depression and 55% meeting criteria for generalized anxiety disorder. Genomic analysis identified specific genetic markers associated with these disorders, emphasizing their genetic underpinnings. Qualitative data underscored the impact of stigma, coping mechanisms, family support, and cultural factors on adolescents' mental well-being. The findings of this study provide a comprehensive understanding of mental health in adolescents in West Java, integrating genetic and socio-cultural perspectives. The prevalence rates highlight the urgency of addressing mental health issues in this population. Genetic insights suggest opportunities for personalized interventions, while qualitative findings emphasize the importance of reducing stigma and enhancing community-based support. These findings contribute to the development of targeted interventions and policies aimed at improving the mental health of adolescents in West Java.

Abstract

This study explores the complex interplay of respiratory health, air quality, and demographic traits in the Tangerang locality. Moderate pollution levels were found through continuous monitoring of air quality measures, such as particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2), and ozone (O3). A 12% rise in hospital admissions for respiratory illnesses and a prevalence of symptoms were found in respiratory health assessments, which included surveys and health records. Analyses of correlation and regression highlighted the importance of O3, PM2.5, and NO2 in affecting respiratory health outcomes. The insights pertaining to demographics revealed differences in vulnerability among various age groups, genders, and occupational categories. The results inform suggestions for focused interventions, continuous surveillance, public education initiatives, and subcategory evaluations to tackle the complex issues brought about by air pollution in Tangerang.

Abstract

Compress is one of the alternatives used to maintain body temperature by using fluids or tools that can cause a warm reaction in the body area. One type of compress that can be used to lower body temperature in children with fever is tepid sponge. The purpose of Community Service is for proper handling in lowering children's fever with compress techniques. The implementation method in Community Service activities is health education about proper handling to lower children's fever with block compress techniques in superficial blood vessels and with wiping techniques in implementation using warm water in children. The results of community service obtained an increase in parental knowledge very well about proper handling to lower children's fever in meeting the need for comfort and maintaining normal temperature. The conclusion is that Typhoid fever is an acute infectious disease that usually affects the digestive tract with symptoms of fever for more than one week, digestive disorders, and impaired consciousness, Fever is rhythmic, usually decreases in the morning, and increases in the afternoon and evening. Clinical manifestations of typhoid fever in children are not typical and vary widely, but usually the typhoid triad is found, namely fever for more than 5 days, disorders of the gastrointestinal tract and can be accompanied or without disturbances of consciousness, and relative bradycardia.
