Abstract

Social media development and the phenomenon of meme marketing have become increasingly viral. The shift from traditional advertising to community-based and participatory content, such as memes, has emerged as a trending notion in contemporary marketing. This shift has necessitated companies to become more innovative in capturing attention, engaging consumers, and fostering loyalty. This research aims to examine the relationship between virality meme marketing, brand personality, and consumer loyalty, with brand engagement acting as a mediator. This study employs a quantitative approach, utilizing PLS-SEM through SmartPLS 4.0 software, with a sample of 220 active respondents. The questionnaire was distributed online using Google Forms, and purposive sampling was applied. The findings indicate that virality meme marketing, and brand personality have a significant enhancing effect on brand engagement, which in turn mediates the effect on customer loyalty. However, a surprising finding emerged regarding the direct effect of virality meme marketing on customer loyalty, where virality meme marketing negatively and insignificantly influences customer loyalty.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the role played by regional ethical codes in Islamic banking's development, adoption and the integration of this financial system at the international level. A comprehensive review of the last 6 years' research in the field is given, covering 86 academic papers from 2020 to 2025. The PRISMA methodology is applied in order to identify, appraise and merge the findings from the studies in areas like ethical and cultural values, Shariah compliance, governance, and socio-economic goals. In fact, research shows that regional ethical frameworks are crucial in ensuring that Islamic financial services are truly ethical and in addition are a key factor in differentiating Islamic financial services from conventional ones within the global marketplace. In the integration of Islamic finance with global norms there are a number of challenges, including the integration of Islamic finance with community-based ethics, the need to harmonise Islamic law with transnational financial dealings and the impact of technological advancements such as the development of financial services companies (fintech). The key theme in this study is the integration of Islamic financial practices with the values of their community, the strategies employed by financial institutions to reconcile local Shariah law with international finance systems, and the role of ethical governance in establishing trust and promoting economic growth. In light of these implications, it is essential that regulatory agencies, industry leaders and government officials work towards ensuring international business practices align with local standards of ethics. Further research is required in such areas as the implications of sustainable finance for conventional financial structures, digitalisation and its impact on the role of the business community and the finance industry, and in cross border issues of ethics.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) was designed to strengthen the accounting competencies of students at SMK Negeri 1 Medan through structured training, practical exercises, mentoring, and academic assistance. The program focused on improving participants’ understanding of basic accounting concepts, account classification, transaction analysis, journal entries, ledger posting, trial balance preparation, and the compilation of simple financial statements. The activities were implemented using an educational and participatory approach that combined material presentation, demonstrations, discussions, case-based exercises, and direct guidance from the implementation team. Evaluation was conducted through initial discussions, observation of participant engagement, review of worksheets, question-and-answer sessions, and assessment of completed accounting exercises. The results showed that participants demonstrated better understanding and improved skills in identifying transactions, determining appropriate accounts, recording debit and credit entries, and preparing basic financial statements in a more systematic manner. Nevertheless, several students still required further assistance in completing compound transactions and connecting trial balance data with financial statement preparation. In addition to technical competencies, the program also supported the development of accuracy, communication, teamwork, problem-solving ability, and self-confidence. Overall, this PKM activity contributed to strengthening practice-based accounting learning and supported the readiness of vocational students to pursue further education, entrepreneurship, and employment in an increasingly technology-oriented work environment.

Abstract

This study, titled Strategic Business Forecasting and Market Trends Analysis Using Machine Learning Techniques, explores how artificial intelligence (AI) particularly machine learning (ML) can enhance the accuracy and strategic impact of business forecasting in dynamic markets. Traditional statistical forecasting methods often fail to accommodate complex, nonlinear, and high-dimensional data. To address this gap, the research develops and validates a machine learning–based forecasting model designed to integrate predictive analytics into strategic decision-making. The study adopts a quantitative approach and employs Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using SmartPLS 3 to examine the interrelationships among four latent variables: Market Trends (MT), Forecasting Accuracy (FA), Strategic Planning Efficiency (SPE), and Business Performance (BP). Each construct is measured using three indicators, forming a structural model that tests six hypothesized relationships. The results indicate that understanding market trends significantly improves forecasting accuracy and strategic planning efficiency, which in turn positively influences business performance. Furthermore, forecasting accuracy directly enhances both planning efficiency and overall performance, emphasizing the strategic value of data-driven insights. The findings validate the reliability and predictive power of the proposed model, offering a robust framework for organizations aiming to leverage machine learning in strategic forecasting. By bridging the gap between algorithmic prediction and managerial application, this study contributes to the growing field of AI-driven business analytics and supports the development of more agile, informed, and resilient business strategies in a data-centric economy.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of halal tourism development on economic growth in North Sumatra during the 2020–2025 period. Halal tourism development is represented by the growth of halal certification and the accommodation and food service sector, while economic growth is measured using the growth rate of Gross Regional Domestic Product at constant prices. The study employed a quantitative descriptive-associative design using secondary data from 33 regencies and municipalities, resulting in 198 observations. Data obtained from Statistics Indonesia and the Halal Product Assurance Organising Agency were analysed using SPSS through multiple linear regression, partial and simultaneous tests, and the coefficient of determination. The findings indicate that halal certification growth and the growth of the accommodation and food service sector have positive and statistically significant effects on economic growth. Simultaneously, both variables significantly influence regional economic growth and explain 64.3% of its variation. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening halal certification and tourism-supporting services to promote regional economic development.

Abstract

Businesses increasingly use gamification to create interactive digital experiences that strengthen customer engagement and loyalty. This study examines the effects of gamification on customer value, purchase decision, and repurchase intention among Shopee users in Medan City, Indonesia. A quantitative survey was administered to 267 respondents who had used Shopee and made at least two purchases, and the data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that gamification significantly influences purchase decision (b = 0.938, p 0.001) and repurchase intention (b = 0.934, p 0.001). Customer value also significantly affects purchase decision (b = 0.551, p 0.001) and repurchase intention (b = 0.501, p 0.001). Mediation testing indicates significant indirect effects of gamification on purchase decision through customer value (b = 0.515, p 0.001), gamification on repurchase intention through purchase decision (b = 0.192, p = 0.003), and customer value on repurchase intention through purchase decision (b = 0.250, p = 0.002). However, customer value does not significantly mediate the effect of gamification on repurchase intention (b = 0.234, p = 0.059). These findings suggest that gamification strengthens digital consumer behavior when it enhances perceived value and facilitates purchase decisions.

Abstract

Sustainable development has become an essential issue for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) centered on agribusiness, such as coffee farming operations, because business performance is no longer simply measured by the economic consequences but also by the environmental and social responsibilities. This study analyzes the effect of green accounting and Green Business Process Management (Green BPM) on sustainable performance through financial performance in coffee producers in Sidikalang, Dairi Regency, North Sumatra. The research was quantitative, causal, and associative. The population were coffee farmers in Sidikalang, with a sample of 294 respondents taken by utilizing the Slovin formula with a 5% margin of error. The data were acquired via questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modelling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) using a five-point Likert scale. Results reveal that green accounting has a considerable and positive impact on sustainable performance and financial success. Green BPM also has a beneficial and significant influence on sustainability and financial performance. Moreover, financial performance has a favorable and considerable impact on sustainable performance. The mediation test reveals that financial performance mediates the effect of green accounting and Green BPM on sustainable performance. The results suggest that the sustainability of Sidikalang coffee farming is enhanced when farmers are able to monitor environmental costs, develop green business procedures, and transfer these practices into improved financial outcomes. The study has practical implications for coffee producers, farmer organizations, and local stakeholders to enhance the tracking of environmental costs, resource efficiency, waste management, and financial management to support the long-term sustainability of Sidikalang coffee.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of social norms, habit, and environmental awareness on energy saving behavior among lecturers in three accredited Informatics and Computer Management Colleges in Medan, with a total population of 83 lecturers. Using a census technique, the entire population was sampled. Data were collected through a standardized questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results reveal that social norms have a significant positive effect on energy-saving behavior, indicating that the energy-saving behavior of lecturers is influenced by social norms and pressures within the academic environment. Habit has the most dominant positive influence, suggesting that everyday habits play a crucial role in forming energy-saving behavior. Environmental awareness also has a substantial positive effect, confirming that the higher the environmental awareness, the greater the tendency of lecturers to save energy. Simultaneously, these three variables explain a considerable proportion of the variance in energy saving behavior, demonstrating that energy conservation is driven by the integration of social influence, behavior automatization, and environmental cognition. This study contributes theoretically to the development of environmental behavior literature in higher education and practically to the reinforcement of green campus policies. The findings suggest that institutional leaders should establish pro-environmental social norms, create energy-efficient standard operating procedures, implement real-time feedback systems, and organize regular environmental awareness programs to enhance lecturers' motivation toward sustainable behavior. The study highlights that higher education sustainability is driven not only by institutional rules but also by the active behavioral participation of academic staff in the workplace.
