Abstract

The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic forced many universities to apply online learning. The purpose of this study was to break down the online learning process in the early pandemic as well as effective and optimal online learning. The design of this research is descriptive qualitative research. The data were collected through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Interestingly, this study found online learning using the WhatsApp Group to be the most effective in the early COVID-19 pandemic. WhatsApp is easy, simple, and does not require a large data quota package. Through WhatsApp accounts, learning took place optimally because students and lecturers could communicate and share PowerPoint files, Microsoft Word files, JPGs, Voice Notes, Videos, and other learning resource links. The study recommends that other researchers uncover the solution to obstacles experienced by students in online learning and the development of other media to implement effective online lectures.

Abstract

Hijab (headscarf) as a symbol of religion became phenomenal in the era of development of science and technology nowadays, impacting on the epistemology and axiology of hijab among Muslim women. The style of hijab used by Muslim women both artists and the general public today not only plays with hijab creations, but also clothing that is increasingly diverse, modern and fashionable. Referring the opinion of Nasaruddin Umar, the phenomenon of hijab in Indonesia is currently due to "hybridity locational "namely the dialectical result between traditional and global Western-style culture. The question that arises is whether the hijab worn by Muslim women is a symbol of godliness or simplt to follows a trend as stated above? Based on these problems, this study aims to answer these questions: 1) Why does the phenomenon of hijab arise among female students of Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University  Yogyakarta ?. 2) What is the function of the hijab, is it a godly identity or is it just a trend? This research study is qualitative, which research procedures employed descriptive data. The respondents of this study were students of Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University  Yogyakarta. Data collection techniques in this study are interview, observation and documentation techniques. While the data analysis technique uses descriptive analysis. The results of the study show that the causes of the phenomenon of hijab are the development of science and technology today and the increasing understanding of Muslim women about the function of using hijab in Islamic shari'a. While the function of the hijab is theological, psychological, political and fashionable.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur pengaruh pembelajaran kitab Taʿlīm al-Mutaʿallim terhadap akhlāq dan kedisiplinan santri di MA Madinatul Munawwarah. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan desain pre-eksperimental one-group pretest-posttest. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui angket, dokumentasi, dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan skor rata-rata pada akhlāq dari 56,2 menjadi 58,06, dan peningkatan kedisiplinan dari 49,73 menjadi 51,73. Berdasarkan uji t, ditemukan bahwa peningkatan kedisiplinan signifikan, sementara peningkatan akhlāq tidak signifikan. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran kitab Taʿlīm al-Mutaʿallim mampu membentuk sikap kedisiplinan secara nyata dan berdampak terhadap perilaku santri secara umum.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of spiritual guidance in fostering the independence of students at the Alkaromah Aidarusy Islamic Boarding School. The main focus of the research is to identify how spiritual guidance is applied practically as well as the specific methods used to achieve student independence. This research is important considering the strategic role of pesantren in shaping the character and independence of students through holistic education that integrates religious, intellectual, spiritual and social aspects. This type of research is a case study (Case Study) which is carried out with a qualitative approach to understand the phenomenon in depth. Then, in the implementation of this qualitative research, a descriptive method will be used to present the findings in the form of a detailed description of how spiritual guidance is applied and how it impacts the independence of students at the pesantren. And this research will collect data through observation, in-depth interviews with caregivers, ustadz/ustadzah, and several students, the results of this study show that spiritual guidance has been carried out well which is carried out through several methods in each activity, including the advice method that forms behavioral independence, group method that forms social independence and habituation method that forms habituation in worship without must participate (Taklid).

Abstract

This study aims to examine the integration of spiritual and social intelligence as a foundation for fostering tolerance in multicultural societies, particularly in the Indonesian context. Using a qualitative, library-based research method with a descriptive-analytical approach, the study synthesizes key theories and prior research on spirituality, social competence, and multicultural education. The findings show that spiritual intelligence—characterized by self-reflection, transcendental awareness, and universal values such as compassion and justice—provides an essential moral foundation. However, these values require the support of social intelligence—empathy, communication skills, and cultural sensitivity—to be effectively translated into inclusive social interactions. The integration of these two forms of intelligence forms a synergistic framework that strengthens tolerant character formation and supports peaceful coexistence across diverse identities. The study concludes that fostering tolerance requires not only legal and structural measures but also cultural and educational strategies that integrate spiritual reflection with social skills training. Practically, the findings suggest that character education, interfaith learning spaces, and multicultural training programs can serve as effective platforms to nurture inclusive citizenship in plural societies.

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas pemikiran pendidikan Islam pada masa kekuasaan Bani Umayyah yang berpusat di Damaskus (661–750 M). Dinasti ini memulai sistematisasi pendidikan Islam melalui masjid, halaqah, dan lembaga informal lainnya, dengan penekanan utama pada pendidikan agama, bahasa Arab, dan awal pengembangan ilmu duniawi. Artikel ini mengulas sistem pendidikan, lembaga pendidikan, peran politik dan ekonomi, serta kebijakan pendidikan yang diberlakukan oleh pemerintahan Umayyah. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa masa ini meletakkan fondasi bagi pendidikan Islam yang lebih maju pada periode berikutnya.

Abstract

This study examines the transmission and transformation of the Gendong dance among the Akit community in Riau Province, focusing on how ritual knowledge and practices are sustained or disrupted without formal institutions. The research addresses the urgency of safeguarding this endangered intangible heritage, which has undergone functional shifts under modernization and socio-economic pressures. Employing a qualitative ethnographic approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive-interpretive methods informed by cultural sociology and anthropology. The findings reveal three key dynamics: (i) the transmission of the Gendong dance is primarily genealogical, reinforced by informal apprenticeship and ritualized knowledge such as prayers, chants, and taboos; (ii) its role has shifted from sacred purification rituals, notably in Bele Kampung, to public performances at civic celebrations and tourism events, entailing changes in choreography, duration, and media; and (iii) the community negotiates between maintaining sacred elements in limited ritual contexts and adapting performative aspects for modern audiences. These findings imply that cultural sustainability requires integrated strategies to balance preservation with adaptation, including educational inclusion, creative economy support, and digital documentation. The originality of this research lies in its focus on micro-level processes of genealogical transmission and cultural negotiation—an underexplored dimension in previous studies that primarily emphasized symbolic, ritual, or commodified aspects. This contribution enriches academic discourse on intangible heritage and practical frameworks for inclusive cultural policy.

Abstract

Civilization (Hadharah) in Islam represents a comprehensive reflection of the values of tawhid (monotheism) that underpin human life, not merely material or technological advancement. This article examines the fundamental concept of hadharah and identifies various forms of civilization from an Islamic perspective. By exploring its terminological definition, hadharah is understood as a settled way of life that gives rise to value systems, social structures, and culture grounded in divine revelation. The discussion reveals that Islamic civilization can be categorized into three main types: Hadharah al-Nash, which emphasizes the revealed texts as the source of absolute truth; Hadharah al-‘Ilm, which integrates reason and faith in the pursuit of knowledge; and Hadharah al-Falsafah, which emerges from the dialogue between Islamic thought and global philosophical traditions. This article provides a deeper understanding of the dynamics of Islamic civilization and its relevance in the modern context.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji konsep tripatrik dalam kosmologi Islam, yang membagi realitas menjadi tiga dimensi utama: metakosmos, makrokosmos, dan mikrokosmos. Ketiga unsur ini tidak dipandang sebagai entitas yang terpisah, tetapi sebagai sistem yang saling terhubung dan mencerminkan keesaan Tuhan dalam struktur kosmos. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif berbasis kepustakaan, dengan menelaah literatur klasik dan kontemporer terkait filsafat Islam, sains, dan tasawuf. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa metakosmos merepresentasikan realitas ilahiah sebagai sumber nilai dan makna, makrokosmos sebagai alam semesta yang dapat diobservasi, dan mikrokosmos sebagai manusia yang memiliki unsur jasmani dan ruhani. Relasi antara ketiga lapisan ini menjadi dasar dalam membangun epistemologi sains Islam yang integratif, menggabungkan aspek rasional, etis, dan spiritual. Pendekatan ini juga menjawab tantangan dualisme antara ilmu dan agama dalam pendidikan dan pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan kontemporer. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa integrasi tripatrik kosmos dapat menjadi landasan dalam merancang sistem pendidikan dan pengembangan sains yang holistik dan berorientasi pada keberlanjutan moral dan spiritual umat manusia.
