Abstract

This paper aims to examine the concept of physical and mental health from the perspective of the Qur'an, which emphasizes the importance of balancing both in human life. The purpose of this study is to reveal the Qur'anic view on health and how the teachings in this holy book can provide guidance in maintaining both physical and mental health. The methodology used in this research is literature study, analyzing various Qur'anic verses related to the topic. The findings indicate that the Qur'an provides clear guidance on the importance of maintaining health, both physical and mental, which remains relevant to be applied in modern life. Given the increasingly complex health challenges in the modern era, it is important to link the teachings of the Qur'an with human needs in maintaining physical and mental well-being, as explained through the guidance provided in the Qur'an and the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Abstract

The environment in Islam holds profound theological and ecological values, reflected in various verses of the Qur'an. This study aims to analyze the concept of environmental preservation in the Qur'an using a thematic tafsir approach, focusing on verses such as QS. Al-Baqarah (2): 164, QS. Ar-Rum (30): 41, and QS. Al-A’raf (7): 56. These verses highlight the importance of maintaining ecological balance (mizan), the prohibition of excessive behavior (israf), and the warning that ecosystem damage is caused by human actions. Through the thematic tafsir approach, this study finds that the Qur'an provides practical guidance for environmental preservation, such as the protection of flora, fauna, the maintenance of water resources, and the wise management of nature. The concept of khalifah in the Qur'an emphasizes that humans have a significant responsibility to preserve the earth as an amanah (trust) from Allah. This study underscores that environmental preservation is an integral part of Islamic teachings, linking ecological actions to spiritual values. Awareness of the importance of preserving the environment as an amanah from Allah not only impacts the sustainability of ecosystems but also serves as an act of obedience to Him. These findings are highly relevant in addressing modern environmental challenges, such as climate change and pollution, and contribute to the development of environmentally sustainable strategies based on religious values.

Abstract

The use of the Quranic verses as a basis for moral legitimacy is a practice rooted in the view that the Quran is the highest guidance (ḥujjah) for Muslims. This article examines the phenomenon of the use of religious arguments, specifically Surah al-Quraish verse 4, by the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Nusron Wahid, as the moral-theological basis for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program of President Prabowo Subianto's administration. Through the application of the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach and the perspective of political interpretation (political hermeneutics). this study examines how religious arguments undergo a process of sacralization and are used as instruments of public policy legitimacy. Data were collected from primary sources in the form of official statements from state officials, the development of MBG implementation from January 2025 to May 2026, and a review of classical and contemporary Quranic interpretation literature. This research finds that this practice poses methodological problems in the field of interpretation, blurs the boundaries between religious discourse and state policy, and has socio-political implications for the program's legitimacy. Furthermore, this study also assesses the potential and challenges of MBG in the context of food security and local agricultural empowerment.
