Abstract

When the world is busy with the COVID-19 virus outbreak, various sectors experienced a significant impact, especially in the education sector, which requires children to carry out learning activities from home. This study aims to determine the effect of Islamic religious education on early childhood's religious and moral values during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study uses a quantitative analysis method of product-moment correlation through a t-test to test the significance of the effect of the independent variable on the dependent variable. The study results found that the hypothesis using the t-test showed that the independent variable of Islamic religious education was proven to significantly influence the dependent variable on the development of religious and moral values of early childhood. Then through the t-test, it can be seen that the significance value of 0.534 is greater than the 0.05 significance level. Thus, Ha is accepted, religious education has a significant effect on the development of religious and moral values of early childhood during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study contributes to a deep understanding that Islamic religious education affects the development of religious and moral values of early childhood even in the Covid-19 pandemic situation. The role of parents is a good role model for children to apply religious and moral values through Islamic religious education.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to examine and understand financial education practice for early childhood in Yogyakarta during the post-pandemic era to gain new insights and knowledge relevant to the subject. Design/methods/approach – This research employs a qualitative and case study approach. Data was collected through structured interviews using WhatsApp and Zoom Meetings with 10 teachers from Raudhatul Athfal. Data analysis was based on Miles and Huberman’s data reduction, display, and verification technique. Findings – The findings indicate a significant change in financial education practice post-pandemic. The impact of remote learning on children's financial education, along with the efforts of teachers in planning, implementing, and evaluating financial education programs, has been identified. Teachers are crucial in implementing the student-centered learning approach to enhance financial literacy. Research implications – These findings provide important insights into the significance of the student-centered learning approach in financial education and the vital role of teachers as facilitators in the learning process. This study also emphasizes the need for ongoing evaluation and cooperation between teachers and parents in children's financial education. The results can contribute to developing policies and practices in financial education, particularly in the post-pandemic context, and open opportunities for further research in this field.

Abstract

Purpose – This research aims to examine various aspects related to the implementation of the In-Service Teacher Professional Program (PPG) for Raudhatul Athfal teachers at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, including the program's administrative procedures, governance structure, program implementation, and the outcomes resulting from the program's implementation. Design/methods/approach – Conducted at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta in 2022, this study utilized a case study design. A mixed approach combining qualitative and quantitative methods was employed to analyze the management and implementation of the PPG for Raudhatul Athfal teachers. Research participants and respondents included program managers, partner lecturers, and program participants. Findings – The study reveals that the administration and governance of the In-Service PPG program were implemented efficiently and effectively, facilitated by information technology and cooperation among various government entities and educational institutions. The implementation of this program has shown improvements in participants' competencies, such as understanding early childhood education and developing teaching skills. The outputs from this program include competency development in designing and implementing appropriate learning for young children, involving parents, and integrating religious values. Research implications– The findings of this study underscore the importance of enhancing teachers' competencies and professionalism to improve education quality in Indonesia. However, certification programs like the In-Service PPG represent only one aspect of enhancing teacher professionalism; other necessary steps include post-certification quality assurance and continuous development for teachers. This study also highlights the significance of programs like the In-Service PPG in achieving these goals.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the comparative management of Islamic Education (Islamic Education) learning in Indonesia and Malaysia. The research method was a case study. The aspect of the study includes planning, implementation, and evaluation. Data collecting techniques were documents, archive records, interviews, and observations. The informant selection technique was a purposive sampling procedure from Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) Bego, Sembego, Maguwoharjo, Depok, Sleman, Yogyakarta, Indonesia and Sekolah Rendah Malaysia (Malaysian Primary School) or Sekolah Kebangsaan (Malay-medium National Schools) Jelotong, Paritraja, Batu Pahat, Johor, Malaysia. The results of the study show that both Indonesia and Malaysia produce similarities in terms of the stages of the planning, implementation, and evaluation processes. The uniqueness of other similarities can be found in choosing the topic of Islamic religious subjects in the learning process. In addition to the similarities, there are differences in the underlying philosophy of making an Islamic Education curriculum.
