Abstract

This study aims to identify and formulate indicators of emotional intelligence (olah rasa) as part of the principal's performance assessment through a case study of mediation at SMK Labor Pekanbaru. The study used a descriptive-exploratory single-case study design with the principal (KS-1), a teacher, and a parent as subjects. Data were obtained through mediation session observations, semi-structured interviews, and a review of related documents. The results indicate that KS-1 implemented three key practices of emotional intelligence (olah rasa)—active listening, empathetic paraphrasing, and neutral summarizing—that contributed directly to reducing emotional tension and achieving follow-up agreements in the form of developing classroom communication SOPs. Thematic analysis yielded five measurable indicators of emotional intelligence (olah rasa): listening without interrupting, empathetic paraphrasing, neutral summarizing, follow-up agreements, and giving appreciation. These indicators proved relevant to complement the Principal Performance Assessment (PKKS) instrument, which has previously focused more on administrative aspects. These findings confirm that emotional intelligence (olah rasa) is a leadership competency that can be observed through authentic evidence and has a direct impact on improving the quality of communication and relationships between school members.

Abstract

The relationship between particulate matter (PM) and ocular surface disease (OSD) is contradictory. Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) literature in Indonesia consistently links high-dose PM10 (dust/smoke) exposure to Irritable Conjunctivitis (IC). Global epidemiological studies tend to focus on PM2.5 and NO2 as the primary causative agents of chronic DED, while ambient PM10 plays a less significant role. The aim of this study was to reconcile this conflicting evidence using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. A total of 42 studies were narratively synthesized and categorized into three lines of evidence: Indonesian occupational exposure (OHS), global ambient exposure (epidemiology), and pathophysiological mechanisms (in vitro/in vivo). The results revealed a "Pollution-Induced OSD Spectrum" with multiple mechanisms. The OHS evidence (Pathway 1) is valid: high-dose PM10 exposure causes acute IC via a physical-mechanical pathway, which directly damages the epithelial barrier through abrasion. Epidemiological evidence (Pathway 2) is also valid: chronic low-dose PM2.5/NO2 exposure causes DED via a chemical-inflammatory pathway, driven by persistent oxidative stress and tear film instability. Mechanistic evidence (Pathway 3) confirms these two distinct pathophysiological pathways. IC and DED are not separate diagnoses in the context of pollution. They represent distinct manifestations (acute/mechanical vs. chronic/inflammatory) within a single disease spectrum, which depends on the type, dose, and duration of pollutant exposure. Abstract

The Industrial Revolution 4.0 has driven significant transformation in the field of education, particularly through the utilization of digital technology as a learning medium. Digital literacy has become an essential competence for students to effectively absorb, comprehend, evaluate, and create information in a critical and responsible manner. Along with the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), deep learning technology offers new opportunities to strengthen adaptive and innovative learning processes. This study aims to analyze the contribution of deep learning in enhancing students’ digital literacy, particularly in aspects of information absorption, information creation, evaluation skills, and the promotion of learning creativity. This research employs a qualitative approach using a documentation study method. Data were collected from scientific journals, academic books, reports from educational institutions, and relevant policies. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques to examine the relationship between digital literacy and the application of deep learning in education. The findings indicate that deep learning can assist students in filtering relevant information, producing creative digital content, receiving accurate automated feedback, and developing creativity and innovation in learning. Nevertheless, the implementation of this technology still faces challenges, including teacher readiness, limited infrastructure, and data security issues. The integration of deep learning in education requires policy support, enhancement of teachers’ digital literacy, and the development of a safe and inclusive learning ecosystem.

Abstract

Matematics learning in elementary school is often seen as difficult and not interesting, which makes students lose their interest and enthusiasm for studying. The same situation also happens in class IV at SDN 46 Banda Aceh, where students appear to be less active, not enthusiastic, and not interested during math lessons. One way to deal with this problem is by using interactive and engaging learning tools, such as the Baamboozle game. Media Baamboozle is a learning tool that uses games, helping students to be more engaged and interested in learning in a fun way. This study uses a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design in the form of a single-group model, which includes pre-testing and post-testing. The population and sample in this research are all the fourth-grade students at SDN 46 Banda Aceh, totaling 28 students. Data collection techniques involved using survey sheets about students' interests and learning motivation that were given before and after the use of the media, along with direct observations and documentation records. The data analysis was done using descriptive statistical methods, normality testing with the Shapiro-Wilk method, paired comparison testing with the t-test, and measurement of ability improvement using the N-Gain method.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the role of male teachers in instilling discipline in early childhood. The focus of the research is the strategy of instilling discipline in early childhood carried out by male teachers. This research uses a qualitative approach with research subjects being male teachers at RA Ar Rohmah, Cawas District, Klaten Regency. This research uses data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis uses Miles and Huberman's interactive model analysis techniques (data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions). Test the validity of the data using triangulation of data sources and techniques. The research results show that male teachers can accustom children to discipline in worship and related self-control abilities, such as: queuing, taking turns playing, etc. The obstacles experienced were the discontinuity of getting used to it at home and at school and the teacher's lack of attention because he was too busy with his workload. So, it is hoped that schools can invite parents to instill discipline in their children from an early age.

Abstract

Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) in Indonesia currently ranks second globally in TB incidence. The disease causes an estimated 125,000 deaths annually. Prolonged treatment duration increases the risk of treatment interruption, drug resistance, and financial burden on patients. This study aimed to analyze the socioeconomic, behavioral, and environmental predictors associated with TB treatment duration. Methods: A cross-sectional design was applied across primary health centers in Jambi City, Indonesia. The study population included individuals at risk of TB, and 297 pulmonary TB patients were recruited using purposive sampling. Independent variables included socioeconomic status, smoking behavior, TB-related knowledge, patient attitude toward treatment, and housing density. Chi-square tests were used for bivariate analysis, and multivariate logistic regression was performed to identify dominant predictors of prolonged treatment duration. Results and Discussion: A total of 40.1% of patients experienced prolonged treatment (> 6 months). Bivariate analysis showed significant associations between treatment duration and socioeconomic status (p < 0.001), smoking behavior (p = 0.018), TB knowledge (p = 0.004), treatment attitude (p = 0.001), and housing density (p = 0.009). Multivariate analysis identified low socioeconomic status (AOR = 2.15, 95% CI: 1.34–3.47) and negative treatment attitude (AOR = 1.82, 95% CI: 1.19–2.79) as the strongest predictors of prolonged treatment duration. Conclusion: Patients with limited financial resources may face structural barriers to treatment completion, including transportation costs, unstable income, and competing daily priorities. These findings have important implications for Indonesia’s TB program and align with the WHO End TB Strategy, which emphasizes addressing social determinants of health.
