Abstract

Introdaction: Patients with mechanic neck pain a population that often found overstretches it is caused by occurred between the two bones in the neck on the ligaments and soft tissues located around, static resulting in hipomibilitas the joint space and joint play movement, resulting in the emergence of provocation on the part of the occipital region on Cervical stressor resulting in excess tissue around the contractile and non-contractile. Purpose: This study the application of ultrasound and McKenzie exercise and myofacial release ultrasound in reducing disability in mechanical neck pain, Methods: This research method is a quasi experimental research with Pre and Post Test Two Group Design. The samples were divided into two treatment groups consisting of McKenzie exercice and ultrasounds were 20 participants with myofascial release and ultrasound with 19 participants, a total of 39 participants. Result: Differences between the mean decrease in neck with NDI disability before and after the application of each group were tested by t-test related, the results obtained mean between the groups before treatment 17,10±1,889% and after treatment 12,90±2,490% by value (p = 0.001) with a mean difference of 42% and showed the average group between before treatment 17,42±2,388% and after treatment 15,63±2,362% (p = 0.001) with a mean difference of 17,9%. The statistical test of using independent t-test showed is a significant difference between group I and group II and the result is p = 0.001 (p< 0.05). Conclusion: application of combined Mc Kenzie exercise and ultrasound better than the application of a combination of myofacial release and ultrasound in reducing disabilities in case of mechanical neck pain.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: High duration of training performed by swimmers with dominant freestyle stroke, resulted in significant number of shoulder rotation movement. The presence of continous movement that occurs in the shoulder of swimmers can cause the risk of shoulder injury, known as swimmer’s shoulder. The presence of shoulder injuries among swimmers resulting a decrease in functional ability on the shoulder of swimmers. The training of shoulder girdle dynamic stabilization and prone scapular stabilization is a training that can be used to improve the functional ability among swimmers shoulders. Method: This study used randomized pre test and post test control group design. This study performed on 20 swimmers that diagnosed of swimmer shoulder injury which divided into 2 groups. Treatment Group was given shoulder girdle dynamic stabilization and Control Group was given prone scapular stabilization training. Shoulder functional ability was measured using SPADI and analized on each group. Result: This research showed that every functional training that was given to each sample groups giving an effect to improving shoulder functional ability post swimmer’s shoulder injury among swimmers. There are significant alteration in Treatment Group and Control Group from pre to post test, both was obtained (p< 0.001). There is significant difference from post test between Treatment Group and Control Group, came with (p=0.001). Conclusion: Shoulder girdle dynamic stabilization better than prone scapular stabilization training in improving the functional ability of the shoulder post swimmer shoulder injury among freestyle stroke swimmer athlete in West Kalimantan. Abstract

Background: Spondyloarthtrosis lumbal is a kind of low back pain which caused by degeneration of discus, facet joint on lumbal. This degeneration causes a pressure on foramen invertebralis that causes tissue inflammation or it also caused because the spasm muscle that will causes ischemic, and at last ischemic causes pain. To decrease pain in spondyloarthrosis lumbal patient, we can use Stabilization Exercise and william flexion exercise at basic therapy. Objective: The purpose of this research is to declare that giving the stabilization exercise on micro wave diathermy basic therapy more effective in decreasing pain than William flexion exercise on micro wave diathermy basic therapy in spondyloarhtrosis lumbal patient. Method: This research was a true experimental, randomized pre and post test two group design in March to April 2016. From 24 samples of 40-60 years old spondyloarthtrosis lumbal patient in RSUD Dr.H..Kumpulan Pane Tebing Tinggi based in the inclusion criteria, were divided to two groups and get randomly treatment. Group I with stabilization exercise after micro wave diathermy basic therapy and group II with William Flexion Exercise after micro wave diathermy basic therapy. Training conducted over six weeks, 3 times per week and 3 times repetition on each training section. Before and after 6 weeks training, all of the sample measured the pain score using Visual Analog scale. Result: The analysis result show that the decreasing pain score that happened on group I, the initial value 52,50 and final value 20,83 with difference value 31,67 and significantly difference (p <0,05) and decreasing pain score value on group II, the initial value 52,50 and the final value 29,17 with difference value 23,33 in significantly (p <0,05). It means on group I and group II got a significantly decreased of pain. Based on Mann Whitney Test, the average comparison of the decreasing pain after the treatment on both group significantly difference (p <0,05). Conclusion: The conclusion from this research is that stabilization on basic therapy micro wave diathermy is more effective to decrease pain than william flexion exercise on basic micro wave diathermy on spondyloarthrosis lumbal patient.

Abstract

The swimmer in Indonesia is still very difficult to compete with world athletes who constantly surge achievement. One reason is the lack of understanding of proper recovery methods or effective in supporting achievement that is slow swimming active recovery method. This study aims to prove the differences of effectiveness of slow frontcrawl swimming recovery with a slow breaststroke swimming recovery to accelerate pulse rate recovery of male Bayusuta swimmer group in Denpasar. Experimental research was done with the method of randomized pre and post test control group design, conducted on February 2014. Samples were selected by simple random sampling . The two intervention groups with each group of 17 samples that randomized selected. The first group was given intervention as slow frontcrawl swimming and the second groups given intervention as slow breaststroke swimming after maximal exercise 50 meter sprint swimming . Pulse rate recovery was measured using Brouha method that is  pulse rate in the first minute until the fifth minute. Statistical analysis with the Wilcoxon test showed a decrease in pulse rate in both groups from the first minute until the fifth minute showed a significant decrease (p < 0,05). Based on the Mann Whitney test pulse rate recovery in the first minute and the second showed no significant difference ( p > 0,05 ), while the third to fifth minute pulse recovery in both groups showed significant differences ( p < 0,05 ) . The decrease of pulse rate in both groups in the first minute until the fifth minute showed significant results ( p < 0,05 ). In conclusion is slow freestyle swimming recovery methods is more effective than  slow breaststroke swimming recovery method in accelerate swimmer pulse rate recovery. The results of this study are expected to increase the knowledge of coaches and swimmer to be able to do a proper recovery methods.

Abstract

Patellofemoral pain syndrome is complained of knee pain by young adults who are productive oftenly, syndrome characterized by pain that is felt around the kneecap, and aggravated the activity squat and stand, up and down stairs, and change the position of the knee after a long standstill ( stand up after sitting for a long time). This is due to the weakness of the thigh muscles especially vasus medialis obliquus. Reinforcement of weak muscle in particular strengthening of the vastus medialis  oblique an appropriate treatment to increase the functional activity of the syndrome. The study was a randomized experiment with pre and post-test group design. This study aimed to compare the combining of mulligan techniques and facilitate of vasus medialis obliquus with application of kinesio taping to increase the functional activity of the lower extremities. In this study, 11 respondents were given a combination of mulligan techniques and facilitation of vastus medialis oblique for 5 weeks with a frequency of exercise 3 times a week, and 11 respondents provided application of kinesio taping for 5 weeks with 3 days and replaced with a new taping. Each treatment was measured by the Lower Extremity Fungtional Scale before and after 5 weeks. Statistical analysis parametric paired sample t-test results is the influence of a combining of mulligan techniques and facilitate of vastus medialis oblique and application of kinesio taping to increase the functional activity of the lower extremities with p<0.05. Test of different with the independent sample t-test with a result there are significant difference between the combining of techniques mulligan and facilitation of vasus medialis obliquus with application of kinesio taping values with  p <0.05. Conclusions in this study that a combining of mulligan techniques and facilitation of vasus medialis obliquus, 3 times a week for 5 weeks effectively to increase the functional activity of the lower extremities of patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome compared to application of kinesio taping for 5 weeks with 3 days in a single use.

Abstract

Background: Football is part of the game that aims to put the ball into the opponent's goal. Reality on the ground observed during this time that many players do not have a good ability to do the shooting to the goal, so it needs to be a training program that aims to improve the accuracy of shooting at goal. Model training provided that training remains the target shooting and target shooting training changed. Objective: The purpose of this research, is to determine the shooting training with fixed targets and training target shooting with a change to the accuracy of shooting at goal. Method: The research is experimental with pre-test and post-test group design in Students of PJKR in PGRI University-Kupang, with a sample of 28 students, divided into two and each group is divided into 14 subjects. Group 1 was given training shooting targets fixed and group 2 was given training shooting target changes that conducted for 8 weeks with with frequency of three times in a week. Results of the research were analyzed using normality test with the Shapiro-Wilk Test and Test of Homogeneity with Leven's Test. Result: Paired t-test to determine the accuracy of shooting in mean difference in group 1 that using fixed target shooting with a mean pre-training =3.5±0.7 and the mean after training =6.7±1.0 with difference =3.2, and the percentage increase =91.42% (p<0.05). While in group 2 that using training target shooting with a mean change before training =3.3± 0.6 and the mean after training =4.6±0.6 to 1.3 and the percentage difference =39.39% increase (p<0.05). The results of the different effects goal shooting accuracy changes were tested by t-independent inter-group before and after training at the limit of significance ?=0.05. The mean change in the accuracy of shooting before training with a value of p>0.05, which means that the initial conditions are the same and after the training has a value of p<0.05. Conclusion: It can be concluded that, fixed target shooting and changed target shooting remain unchanged equally gives the effect of increased shooting accuracy (p<0.05). But the increase in group 1 that using fixed target shooting training is still better than in group 2 that using changed target shooting. Suggestion: It is advisable to use a fixed target shooting training in the process of training, the recruitment of players or athletes, because the effect is more effective.

Abstract

Knee osteoarthritis is a disease caused by degenerative factors that mostly found in musculoskeletal and knee osteoarthritis has the most common cause to limited motion and body function. People with osteoarthritis usually complain of pain, stifftess and limitation of function. This study aimed to determine closed kinetic chain exercise was better than open kinetic chain to increase functional capability of knee osteoarthritis after giving treatment micro wave diathermy (MWD) and transcutaneus electrical nerve stimulation (TENS). The design of this research was true experimental pre-test and post-test with control group design, which the population was taken by purposively sampling. Division of the sample into two groups, group one consisted of 6 people. The first group was given MWD, TENS and Closed Kinetic Chain exercise and group two was given MWD, TENS and Open Kinetic Chain exercise. The frequency of exercise are 3 times a week for 4 weeks. Subjects were all patients with knee osteoarthritis who had been diagnosed through assesment procedures conducted in General Hospital of Mataram–Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. Analysis of significance with Paired t-test (paired) showed that in each group resulted in an increase in functional ability after treatment of knee osteoarthritis is significantly different (p<0.05). While a difference test in both groups after treatment using analysis test of Independent t-test (unpaired) showed that the value of t = 2.748 and p = 0.021. So thah there was an increase functional capabilities of knee osteoarthritis after treatment (p<0.05). In conclution the treatment conducted in group one which was MWD, TENS and Closed Kinetic Chain proved improvement of the functional capabilities of  knee osteoarthritis better than treatment conducted in group two, namely the MWD, TENS and Open Kinetic Chain.

Abstract

Among skateboarders frequently faced with recurrent injury especially on ankle region. They seldom take attention to their injury and if the condition left untreated, it will turn into chronic ankle instability. This condition will disturb dynamic balance while playing skateboard. The purpose of this research is to find if dumbbell lunges intervention and core stability exercise are more effective than elastic band and core stability exercise for the improvement of dynamic balance. This experimental research using pre and post test two group design. Sample was taken with simple random sampling. Total of 24 samples were divided into 2 groups, each group contain 12 samples. Group I had dumbbell lunges intervention and core stability exercise while Group II had elastic band intervention and core stability exercise. The exercise was done 3 times per week for 6 weeks. Data was taken with measurement dynamic balance using modified bass test of dynamic balance before and after exercise to each group. The mean difference test increasement of dynamic balance with paired sample t-test results p value 0.001 (p<0.05) within treatment Group I and p value 0.001 (p<0.05) within treatment Group II. which mean there is significantly difference of increasing value dynamic balance before and after intervention within both group. Difference test before intervention in treatment Group I and Group II with independent t-test result p value 0.818 (p>0.05) in which there is no significant difference between groups before intervention. and difference test after intervention in treatment Group I and Group II with independent t-test shows significant difference with p value 0.001 (p<0.05). This study shows that dumbbell lunges intervention and core stability exercise result in better improvement of dynamic balance than elastic band intervention and core stability exercise among skateboarders.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe basic techniques of volleyball used to use muscular group in our body, especially the leg’s muscles that is facilitating the springboard movement. Explosive power is the ability of muscles to exert maximum force in a very quick time. Leg muscle explosive power is one of the essential components required in the sport of volleyball particular in the motion of smash, passing and blocking hat needs to be improved by training plyometrics. The training that were conducted during this research are the plyometric depth jump and plyometric box jump training using the principle of progressive load with 3 times frequencies a week within 6 weeks. The aim of this study is to compare the explosive power of training leg muscle. This study use a randomized experimental design with pre test and post test group design for six weeks with 3 times frequencies a week. The sample’s numbers is 32 participants that was divided into two groups. The first group was given training in plyometrics depth jump and the second group was given training plyometrics box jump. The explosive power of leg muscle is measured by using a jump DF which measured before and after training for each groups. The result of this research is shown before training in group I is 42.25 ± 3.92 cm and 51.81 ± 4.41cm after training (p <0.05). While, in group II the mean shows 40.25 ± 5.14 cm before training and 45.25 ± 5.07 cm after training (p <0.05). Training in group I can increase explosive power leg muscle than group II (p <0.05). Based on the result, it is concluded that the plyometric depth jump training is more better than the plyometric box jump training in increasing explosive power leg muscle for the students of volley ball extracurricular at SMK Negeri 1 Petang.Keywords: plyometrics depth jump training and box jump, explosive power leg muscle, sports volleyball.

Abstract

Background: Disorder of dynamic balance is often found in children with Down syndrome which causes difficulty in maintaining posture against impending disorders. If this is left it will certainly cause problems of further motor development. Purpose: To prove the physiotherapy intervention that can improve dynamic balance among children with down syndrome 7-15 years. Methods: The research is true experimental with pre-test and post-test group design. This study used 24 subjects in 2 groups, group 1 (n=11) given dynamic neuromuscular stabilization on while group 2 (n=11) given perceptual motor program. Divided randomly into 2 groups that is group 1 dynamic neuromuscular stabilization and group 2 perceptual motor program. The exercise is held 3 times a week in 6 weeks. Measurements of this dynamic balance are using sixteen balance tests. Result: The paired sample t-test statistical test in group 1 showed a significant difference with value (p <0.001) on mean before intervention 48.5±5.428 and after intervention 72.75±4.413. The paired sample t-test statistical test in group 2 showed a significant difference with value (p <0.001) on mean before intervention 48.5±5.3 and after intervention 69.42±4.379. Different test between group 1 and 2 using independent sample t-test showed a significant difference with value (p<0.001). Conclusion: The conclusions are dynamic neuromuscular stabilization is better than perceptual motor program in improving dynamic balance among children with down syndrome 7-15 years at Pradnyagama Foundation Denpasar.
