Abstract

Reading literacy is one of the basic skills that elementary school students must have, especially in the early grades. However, in practice, many students still experience difficulties in understanding simple reading. This study aims to analyze the reading literacy skills of second-grade students at SDN Laren 01 and identify factors that influence their low reading comprehension skills. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach with 21 second-grade students as subjects. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, reading tests, and interviews with class teachers. The results showed that 5 students were not yet fluent readers, 12 students were able to read but did not understand the content of the reading well, and only 4 students were able to read and understand the content of the reading. These findings indicate that more than 50% of students still experience difficulties in understanding simple reading. Factors that influence students' low literacy skills include limited vocabulary, low reading habits, and reading learning strategies that still focus on reading fluency. Therefore, more interactive and contextual literacy learning strategies are needed to improve elementary school students' reading comprehension skills

Abstract

This study aims to systematically analyze the impact of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) integrated with coding on students' computational thinking (CT) and creative thinking skills. In the digital era, coding is no longer just a technical skill but a primary medium for fostering logical-mathematical and systematic reasoning. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method guided by the PRISMA framework, 15 relevant academic articles published between 2020 and 2025 were reviewed. The findings indicate that PjBL provides an authentic pedagogical environment that allows students to deconstruct complex phenomena through algorithmic design and mental modeling. The integration of tangible technologies, such as robotics and mobile programming, significantly enhances five dimensions of student competence: innovation, collaboration, critical analysis, algorithmic cognition, and problem-solving. Furthermore, meta-analysis results confirm that PjBL-based coding effectively bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, fostering a more engaging and student-centered learning experience. This review provides a strategic framework for educators to implement coding-integrated PjBL to develop essential 21st-century higher-order thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze principal leadership practices in managing two primary schools with distinct funding characteristics. A qualitative multi-case study design was employed, with data gathered through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis of school budget plans and financial reports. Data were synthesized using Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña's interactive model. Findings reveal that funding differentiation significantly shapes contextual and adaptive leadership practices through three primary strategies: fiscal-based program calibration, justice framing in organizational communication, and relational buffering through collective participation. These strategies allow principals to navigate financial constraints while maintaining institutional goals. As a theoretical contribution, the study proposes the concept of contextual fiscal leadership to the field of school leadership studies within tiered funding systems. This concept emphasizes the necessity for school leaders to harmonize pedagogical visions with fiscal realities to ensure organizational resilience.
