Abstract

This literature study examines the role of outdoor activity in strengthening independence and self-confidence among elementary school students. The study was motivated by the increasing demand for holistic character education, while many schools still rely heavily on classroom-based learning. The objective of this article is to synthesize research trends, implementation models, learning impacts, challenges, and opportunities related to outdoor learning in primary education. This study employed a qualitative literature review design. A total of 20 journal articles and books were purposively selected based on relevance, publication quality, educational level, and conceptual relation to outdoor activity, independence, and self-confidence. Data were analyzed through identification, reduction, categorization, comparison, and narrative synthesis. The findings indicate that outdoor activity positively contributes to independence and self-confidence, particularly in decision-making, social interaction, problem solving, and resilience. The approach is most effective when designed contextually, collaboratively, culturally relevant, and developmentally appropriate for elementary learners. Major challenges include teacher readiness, limited structured integration, and the need for systematic reflection. This study concludes that outdoor activity is a promising pedagogical approach for strengthening independence and self-confidence in elementary schools. Its implications highlight the importance of curriculum-sensitive, culturally grounded, and systematically designed outdoor learning activities.

Abstract

Administrative overload constitutes an acute structural challenge faced by Indonesian elementary school (SD) teachers implementing the Merdeka Curriculum. This study analyzes the effectiveness of an AI-based system integrating QR Code technology, the Gemini generative AI model, and the Supabase cloud database as a holistic solution, employing a PRISMA-guided Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology. Of 312 identified articles, 25 high-quality studies were included following multi-stage screening. Synthesis reveals that: (1) integrated AI systems can reduce assessment administration duration by 60–80%; (2) QR Code technology eliminates student misidentification errors; and (3) generative AI achieves substantial inter-rater agreement (κ ≥ 0.61) for essay response evaluation. These findings underscore the urgency of integrating AI administrative systems specifically designed for Indonesian elementary school contexts to support Merdeka Curriculum implementation.

Abstract

This study is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) aimed at analyzing the effectiveness of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach in improving elementary school students' mathematics learning outcomes. The study was conducted on eighteen scientific articles published between 2022 and 2026 and obtained through manual searches in various accredited national journals. Articles were selected using the PRISMA guide based on established inclusion and exclusion criteria. The study results indicate that the application of CTL (Contextual Teaching and Learning) is consistently able to improve elementary school students' mathematics learning outcomes in various materials, ranging from fractions, plane figures, integers, to the volume of solid figures. Improvements in learning completeness occurred in each cycle in Classroom Action Research (CAR)-based research, while experimental studies showed significant differences between classes using CTL and control classes. CTL has proven effective because it connects mathematics material to students' real lives, making learning more meaningful, active, and enjoyable. Research gaps identified include a lack of cross-subject studies, a lack of experimental designs with control groups, and suboptimal technology integration in CTL implementation in elementary schools. These findings provide implications for teachers, researchers, and policymakers in developing more contextual and innovative mathematics learning strategies at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the potential for developing gamification-based digital learning materials (E-LKPD) in the form of a ZEP Quiz to improve elementary school students’ science learning outcomes through a systematic literature review as a pre-development study. The study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA guidelines. The search was conducted on Google Scholar, ERIC, and Semantic Scholar, covering publications from 2021 to 2026. Of the 478 identified articles, 23 met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that interactive E-LKPDs have been effective in improving learning outcomes, with an average N-Gain in the moderate-to-high range. Gamification through elements such as points, leaderboards, and immediate feedback consistently enhances student motivation and engagement. The ZEP Quiz platform offers advantages, including a 2D avatar-based metaverse environment, AI integration for question generation, and real-time analytics, making it an ideal medium for gamified E-LKPD. The integration of these three components has strong potential to improve IPAS learning outcomes through meaningful, interactive, and enjoyable learning experiences.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of pedagogical competence of elementary school teachers after participating in the Teacher Professional Education Program (PPG) in the learning process by considering the influence of transformational leadership and school culture. Pedagogical competence is understood as the ability of teachers to design lesson plans, implement teaching and learning activities, and conduct effective learning assessments. Although teachers have participated in professional training programs, the implementation of these competencies is also influenced by the conditions and support of the school environment. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The research informants consist of elementary school teachers who have completed the PPG program and school principals. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observations of the learning process, and documentation studies related to learning activities and instructional documents. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing systematically. The results show that teachers who have completed the PPG program demonstrate improved abilities in preparing learning tools, managing classrooms, and conducting learning evaluations. In addition, the transformational leadership of school principals plays a role in providing motivation and support for teachers to continuously improve their professional competence. A positive school culture also encourages collaboration, innovation, and improvement in the quality of learning. Therefore, leadership and school culture are important factors in optimizing teachers’ pedagogical competence in the learning process.

Abstract

Mathematics learning in elementary schools is often still conventional and less connected to students' cultural backgrounds, resulting in low motivation and suboptimal learning outcomes. This study aims to analyze the implementation of local wisdom-based e-modules using the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach to improve students' learning motivation and learning outcomes in elementary schools. The research employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by reviewing various national and international scientific journal articles published between 2020 and 2025. The review process was conducted through stages of identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion based on the PRISMA procedure. The findings indicate that the implementation of local wisdom-based e-modules integrated with the CRT approach positively affects students' motivation and learning outcomes. The integration of local culture into learning materials, the use of interactive multimedia, contextual learning experiences, digital assessment, and teacher guidance were found to increase students' engagement, conceptual understanding, critical thinking skills, digital literacy, and active participation in learning. In addition, the CRT approach creates a more inclusive, meaningful, and enjoyable learning environment because students' cultural identities are recognized and valued in the learning process. Therefore, local wisdom-based e-modules with the CRT approach can serve as an innovative learning alternative to support contextual and culturally responsive learning in elementary schools.
