Abstract

Background: Maternal anxiety during the first stage of labor can affect the course of labor, the duration of contractions, and fetal well-being. Non-pharmacological interventions such as aromatherapy are an option to reduce anxiety. The use of a digital diffuser as a medium for aromatherapy distribution provides a more even and consistent distribution of aroma. Objective: To determine the effect of digital diffuser aromatherapy on maternal anxiety levels during the first stage of labor. Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest design with a control group. Forty mothers in the first stage of labor were divided into an intervention group (n=20) and a control group (n=20). The intervention group was given lavender aromatherapy via a digital diffuser for 15 minutes, while the control group received standard care. Anxiety levels were measured using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS). Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. Results: The average anxiety score before the intervention in the intervention group was 25.4 (moderate category) and decreased to 14.2 (mild category) after the intervention (p < 0.05). The control group did not experience a significant decrease (from 24.8 to 23.9). The Mann-Whitney test showed a significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Digital diffuser aromatherapy effectively reduces maternal anxiety levels during the first stage of labor. Healthcare providers are advised to use this method as a non-pharmacological complementary therapy in managing labor anxiety.

Abstract

Background: Pregnancy is a crucial period in a woman's life that requires special attention to maintain the health of both mother and fetus. Lack of knowledge and awareness regarding healthy prenatal care can increase the risk of complications, including anemia, hypertension, and premature birth. Objective: This study aims to identify healthy prenatal care practices, factors influencing maternal health, and develop evidence-based recommendations for pregnant women in Indonesia. Methods: This study used a descriptive qualitative approach, collecting data through in-depth interviews with 20 pregnant women and five health workers in Sleman Regency, as well as literature review from national and international journals. Data were analyzed thematically to identify patterns of care and determinants of maternal health. Results: The study identified five main aspects of healthy prenatal care: (1) implementing a balanced, nutritious diet, (2) routine prenatal checkups at least six times during pregnancy, (3) light physical activity and adequate rest, (4) social and emotional support from the family, and (5) increasing health education through medical personnel and digital media. These five aspects contribute significantly to reducing the risk of pregnancy complications. Conclusion: Healthy pregnancy care requires a synergy between medical knowledge, social support, and a healthy lifestyle. Collaboration between health professionals, families, and the government is needed to strengthen the community-level education system for pregnant women.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by elevated blood sugar levels due to impaired insulin secretion or function. One of the main pillars of diabetes management, in addition to drug therapy and dietary adjustments, is regular physical activity. Physical activity is known to improve insulin sensitivity and help control blood sugar levels. This study aims to analyze the relationship between physical activity and blood sugar control in diabetes patients. This study used quantitative methods with an analytical design and a cross-sectional approach. The study sample was diabetes mellitus patients undergoing routine check-ups at health care facility X. Data were collected through a physical activity questionnaire and blood sugar level checks, then analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between physical activity levels and blood sugar control (p < 0.05). The conclusion of this study is that adequate and regular physical activity plays an important role in maintaining blood sugar control in diabetes patients.

Abstract

ABSTRACT A mother's confidence in breastfeeding is a crucial factor influencing successful breastfeeding. Lack of knowledge and experience in breastfeeding often leads to postpartum mothers feeling insecure about breastfeeding their babies. Video-based lactation education is an effective educational method because it delivers information visually and audibly in an engaging manner. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of video-based lactation education on increasing breastfeeding confidence in postpartum mothers. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest - posttest approach. The study sample consisted of 50 postpartum mothers selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using a breastfeeding questionnaire. Self-Efficacy Scale (BSES). Data analysis used paired t- test. The results showed that the average breastfeeding confidence score increased from 48.6 ± 7.5 to 67.8 ± 6.9 after video-based lactation education (p < 0.001). It was concluded that video-based lactation education was effective in increasing postpartum mothers' confidence in breastfeeding. Abstract

ABSTRACT Early pregnancy in adolescents is a health problem influenced by various psychological factors, including self-efficacy and attitude. Self-efficacy plays a role in shaping an individual's belief in their ability to avoid risky behavior, while attitude reflects behavioral tendencies towards reproductive health. This study aims to analyze the role of self-efficacy and attitude in preventing early pregnancy in adolescents through reproductive health education. This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach . A sample of 110 respondents was selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that self-efficacy (β = 0.45; p < 0.001) and attitude (β = 0.32; p < 0.01) significantly influenced early pregnancy prevention behavior, with self-efficacy as the most dominant factor. Reproductive health education has been shown to improve both variables. In conclusion, increasing self-efficacy and positive attitudes through education is an important strategy in preventing early pregnancy in adolescents.
