Abstract

This paper aims to describe the inculcation of critical thinking skills in primary schools. Critical thinking is a complex thinking process that is thinking in a reflective, independent manner and aims to make reasonable decisions, which include analyzing, synthesizing, recognizing problems and solving them, concluding and evaluating. Critical thinking skills in primary school is still not maximal because the teacher still has not triggered the students to think critically. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with literature study data collection techniques. Based on literature review, it can be concluded that critical thinking skills is a high-level thinking process that needs to be instilled since students in elementary school.

Abstract

Abstract

The module is an independent learning package that includes a series of systematically designed learning experiences to help learners achieve learning goals. Therefore, the module must be organized in a creative, innovative manner, in accordance with the basic competencies and applicable curriculum, and the use of language is easy to understand by students understanding and can influence the mindset of students on learning materials. Rotational Dynamics is one of the sub-chapters on the subject of Curriculum Physics 2013 at SMA / MA level. In this Dynamics Rotation Material requires students to work hard in mastering the concept given. Therefore it is necessary a teaching materials in the form of modules that are effective in improving students critical thinking skills. The modules were developed using the Discovery Learning base. Students are given the opportunity to develop their creative ideas in solving the problem of rotational dynamics so that their critical thinking ability can develop. In this study, the preliminary research was conducted. The subjects of this study are the students of class XI MIA 2 and XI MIA 3 in MAN 2 Kediri, amounting to 78 students and 2 teachers. Preliminary research data obtained through questionnaire needs analysis for students and questionnaire needs analysis filled by teachers, as well as interviews conducted to confirm the questionnaire data needs analysis obtained. Based on preliminary research conducted on class XI students and teachers agreed to develop the learning module of Physics based on Discovery Learning as teaching material in learning.

Abstract

Professional development of teachers is ideally continuous implemented and is known by Continuous Proffesional Development (CPD). CPD is a renewal conscious knowledge and improving the competence of teachers throughout his working life. This study is a descriptive study that aims to depict of the kinds of professional development and the conception of the Lesson Study Learning Community (LSLC) on junior high science teacher in Surakarta. The subjects were science teachers of junior high school of Surakarta both public and private schools with a sample of 10 teachers. This survey study conducted in June 2016 using an open questionnaire instrument. Analysis of data used qualitative data analysis type of Miles and Huberman model which included data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions and verification. The results of this study concluded that the types of professional development carried out by the science teachers Surakarta includes activities Subject Teachers Council, education and training, workshops, and technical guidance. The study also revealed there has been no increase in professionalism is done by directly observing in the classroom is done in a sustainable manner. While Lesson Study is understood by science teachers with various understanding some of which has led to the understanding of LS as the collective activities of teachers. Learning community is understood as a group or study together. Keywords: teachers proffesional development, conception of lesson study learning community, science teacher

Abstract

The disruption era is defined as the time when so many innovations are emerging, unrecognized by established organizations that they interfere with the activities of the old system's order or even destroy the old system. The world of education must also be ready in the face of this disruption era, especially in the era of increasingly advanced technology. One of the efforts in the development of learning-based disrupted era, especially in primary school is the use of interactive multimedia. With the steps and processes of using the right interactive multimedia, using interactive multimedia as a message media will stimulate the thoughts, feelings, concerns and desires of students so as to encourage more interactive and communicative learning process and can improve the learning experience of students become more concrete. The research method used is qualitative with case study design where researchers collect and analyze data about the use of interactive multimedia in primary school. The results revealed that interactive multimedia is considered important in the effort of IT utilization in learning in disruption era but there are still many teachers who have not realized and apply it.

Abstract

Students in elementary schools often experience various developmental disorders, especially those related to verbal intelligence, so that students experience difficulties in acquiring basic skills such as writing, reading, or speaking. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze to measure the verbal intelligence ability of students from an early age when in elementary school. This study aims to explore the verbal intelligence of students in the overall aspects, namely: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. This research uses descriptive qualitative research with a case study model. In collecting data, the researcher used a tool, namely audio-based stories, then strengthened interviews (unstructured) with educators and students with 25 respondents. Analysis of the data using Miles and Huberman. The study’s overall students' verbal intelligence still must be considered. In general, it is proven that almost half of students still lack in listening, reading, writing, and speaking aspects, so this will certainly hinder the development of students at their age. The implication of this research is the need for support from relevant stakeholders to develop verbal skills from an early age so that it becomes the key to the development of students in the future.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using a scientific based physics module to improve high school students' critical thinking skills. This study is a quasi experimental study which uses two classes taken at random experiment consists of one class and the control class. Class experiments using the scientific study using scientific-based modules and classroom experiments using books that have been owned by students. Experimental class numbered 25 students and control class numbered 28 students. The research was conducted in the first half (one) Academic Year 2016/2017. The method used is the test method with a pretest-posttest design. Data were analyzed with quantitative and qualitative methods. Data were analyzed using a pretest form of the homogeneity test to find out that the experimental class and controls used homogeneous. Posttest results were analyzed using normality test to determine the normally distributed data, N-gain to determine the increase critical thinking skills, as well as test two parties not bound to determine whether or not there is a difference in the increase in critical thinking skills. Conclusions and recommendations are the use of scientifically-based modules effectively improve the ability to think critically and use physics-based scientific modules should be adjusted to the prevailing syllabus and curriculum so that learning can take place properly.
