Abstract

The purpose of this comprehensive literature review critically synthesizes evidence on how industrial internships, work-based learning, and career guidance practices are experienced by students in vocational education and how these practices, in turn, influence students' career readiness and employability outcomes. The review process followed the PRISMA 2020 reporting framework standards. An initial pool of 401 documents was gathered from the Scopus database on 6 July 2026. The search was done using a Boolean string. After filtering out, 257 items were considered for further screening. After the screening and a full-text eligibility check against a structured inclusion/exclusion matrix and a FICO (Focus, Information, Context, Outcome) quality threshold (scored 0-8, with a minimum composite of 4 required for inclusion), 50 articles were deemed suitable for thematic synthesis using Thomas and Harden's thematic approach, with 10 leading examples being illustrated in depth. Screening and eligibility decisions were done by following one set of rules instead of using two raters who would check each other's work. This is a methodological limitation that is further discussed in the full text. Thematic synthesis grouped by three research questions shows that (1) work-based learning models are extensively used for converting vocational curricula into competences relevant to work; (2) personal attributes such as career self-confidence, career resilience, and clear vocational identity, combined with external factors like good teaching, industry exposure, and social support, not only influence students' career decisions but also their ability to find employment during internship; and (3) well-designed career guidance and counselling services, which are part of institutional industry link-and-match partnerships, seem to have a positive impact on school-to-work transition outcomes, although guidance services are still very much scattered and hardly evaluated in many countries. From a practitioner's perspective, the review suggests that formalizing internship supervision, incorporating career counseling into vocational courses at the beginning, and reinforcing the industry-school partnership mechanisms are some of the ways forward.

Abstract

This study is being done in Kerinci to find out how people understand and interpret gender and how the five Kerinci men and women are being used as informants based on life guidance, social relationships, perceptions of patriarchy, social behavior, and the woman's dual role. Case studies and phenomenological data are used in this qualitative study. The informants are chosen on purpose. There are five Kerinci men and women with more than one job, such as government workers, business owners, politicians, or people who run home businesses. The results of this study show that in five cases of Kerinci man and wife informants understand and interpret gender as agreement and conformity of man's and woman's function in taking the role based on cultural and religious values, which are Hargo lihi, adat istiadat, raso sgan, raso go, and religiosity, as part of life-guidance, because these values become the binding frame of man and wife in gender implementation. In the five Kerinci man and wife as informants' case, the double roles of women are seen in the financial development, spiritual gift, motivation, and achievement of themselves and their family. This is because Kerinci people don't stop their wives from working, and their religion lets them do so as long as they keep their hargo lihi, self-esteem, and husband's agreement. Even though there isn't much time to spend at home with your husband in the evening, that doesn't mean it's not good.

Abstract

Work-family conflict (WFC) remains one of the most widely recognized occupational stressors, contributing to reduced well-being, increased turnover intentions, and poorer physical and mental health among employees. Although previous studies have demonstrated the importance of social support in addressing WFC, a comprehensive understanding of how different forms of support operate across occupations and work contexts is still limited. This systematic review aimed to examine the role of social support in mitigating work-family conflict and its associated outcomes. The review followed the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. A systematic search of the Scopus database using Boolean operators identified 431 articles related to work-family conflict, social support, and organizational support. Following duplicate removal and screening based on predefined inclusion criteria using the PICOS framework, 50 studies published between 2020 and 2026 were selected for analysis. Narrative synthesis revealed four major findings. First, WFC is shaped by occupational and contextual differences, with particularly high levels reported in healthcare, construction, hospitality, and remote or hybrid work settings. Second, organizational and supervisory support consistently reduce the negative effects of WFC by improving job satisfaction, family satisfaction, and overall well-being, thereby lowering emotional exhaustion and turnover intentions. Third, support from spouses and family members strengthens work-life balance and reduces the spillover of work-related stress into family life. Fourth, gender differences remain evident, with women generally experiencing more severe consequences of WFC than men. The findings support the Conservation of Resources Theory and Spillover/Crossover Theory by demonstrating that social support functions as a valuable resource across work and family domains. The review concludes that organizations should combine formal work-family policies with supportive leadership practices to effectively reduce work-family conflict. Future research should emphasize longitudinal designs, cross-cultural comparisons, underrepresented occupations, and the influence of digital and hybrid work environments on work-family dynamics.

Abstract

Emotional dysregulation is a common problem among students and is associated with academic, social, and psychological difficulties. However, the effectiveness of individual counseling compared with group counseling or digital CBT-based interventions remains unclear. This systematic literature review followed the PRISMA 2020 guidelines to examine the role of individual counseling in improving students' emotional regulation. A structured Boolean search was conducted in the Scopus database using keywords related to cognitive behavioral therapy, individual counseling, emotional regulation, and student populations. The final search was completed in July 2026. Of 178 identified records, 163 remained after duplicate removal. Following screening and eligibility assessment, 10 studies met the inclusion criteria and were synthesized, supported by 40 additional Scopus-indexed references for theoretical and methodological discussion. The findings indicate that individual counseling generally improves emotional regulation, although its effectiveness varies according to the therapeutic relationship, mental health comorbidities, delivery format, cultural context, developmental stage, and participant characteristics. Complementary approaches, including music-based and technology-assisted interventions, may further enhance emotional regulation beyond traditional counseling. These findings strengthen transdiagnostic and mechanism-based CBT perspectives while providing practical implications for school counselors and clinicians to prioritize emotional regulation skills alongside symptom reduction. The review was limited by the small number of eligible studies and heterogeneous outcome measures. Future research should directly compare individual and group CBT formats using standardized emotional regulation measures and longer-term, cross-cultural designs.

Abstract

Low motivation can be seen in students' lack of active involvement in the learning process, their lack of initiative to access additional learning resources, and their difficulty managing time and developing independent learning strategies. However, educational psychology literature confirms that motivation plays a crucial role as a determining factor in learning success. Educational psychology plays an important role in understanding student learning, especially in relation to motivation and academic achievement. This article reviews the literature on how educational psychology principles enhance student motivation and learning outcomes at STKIP Pesisir Selatan. The review shows that intrinsic motivation, cognitive-based learning strategies, the lecturer’s role as facilitator, and a supportive learning environment significantly influence achievement. Practical applications of educational psychology through active learning, feedback, positive reinforcement, and effective classroom management can improve learning quality. This article aims to provide a conceptual foundation for further research and teaching practices in higher education.

Abstract

Stress, anxiety, and depression are prevalent and co-occurring conditions among university students that significantly impair academic functioning and overall well-being. Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) has theoretical and empirical support as a psychophysiological intervention targeting somatic arousal, but evidence from Indonesian university contexts examining all three outcomes simultaneously remains limited. This quasi-experimental study employed a two-group pretest–posttest design to examine the effects of a five-day PMR intervention on stress, anxiety, and depression among psychology students at a public university in West Sumatra, Indonesia. A total of 60 participants meeting inclusion criteria of high or very high DASS-42 scores were assigned to an experimental group (n = 30) or a no-intervention control group (n = 30). Outcomes were measured using the Indonesian-adapted DASS-42. Normality was assessed using the Shapiro–Wilk test; stress and anxiety met normality assumptions and were analyzed using paired-sample t-tests, while depression in the experimental group showed a severe normality violation at posttest (W = .882, p = .002) and was analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The experimental group demonstrated statistically significant reductions in stress (M: 29.63 to 22.10, d = 0.84), anxiety (M: 25.17 to 18.37, d = 0.78), and depression (M: 22.57 to 14.47, r = .54), all p < .001, reflecting large to medium-to-large effect sizes. The control group showed non-significant changes across all outcomes. However, the absence of between-group statistical comparisons, follow-up data, and feasibility metrics limits the strength of causal and practical conclusions. Future research should employ randomized controlled designs with active comparison conditions and follow-up assessments to establish the durability and specificity of PMR effects.
