Abstract

The psychodynamic counseling course is one of the compulsory courses to provide students with an understanding of theories, concepts, and techniques based on psychodynamic views. With various existing goals, it shows that implementing this course requires technology-based media to support the optimal running of lectures. The MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) platform is an answer to implementing psychodynamic counseling courses with existing flexibility and accessibility. The purpose of this research is to develop content on the MOOC platform to improve the quality of learning by utilizing interactive technology and learning content can be presented dynamically using various media such as video, audio, and simulation. The development of MOOC content goes through a series of stages of research and development. The development design used is the ADDIE development model to produce a specific product and test the effectiveness of the product. The stages of this research are analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The results of the study show that the development of case-method-based MOOC content in the Psychodynamic Counseling course has succeeded in increasing the effectiveness of online learning for materials that require in-depth understanding and analytical skills. Despite the challenges in moderating discussions and the need for additional guidance for more abstract concepts, MOOCs have proven their potential as an effective and flexible online learning medium. As for the suggestions in this study, it is hoped that the development of MOOC content can be more extensive in other courses. In addition, MOOC platforms can be used more widely in optimizing learning.

Abstract

The literature also points to communication as a critical dimension of academic honesty. In light of these complexities, this systematic literature review (SLR) seeks to synthesize research published between 2015 and 2025 on academic honesty among university students. The remainder of this paper is structured as follows. First, the methodological framework for the review is described, including inclusion and exclusion criteria aligned with PRISMA guidelines. Second, the results section presents a thematic synthesis of the literature.  This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, guided by the PRISMA 2020 protocol, to ensure transparency, replicability, and alignment with standards used in Scopus-indexed publications. The findings underscore that punitive approaches alone are insufficient. Instead, universities must adopt integrated strategies that combine pedagogical innovations, transparent communication, emotional intelligence training, and AI literacy programs. Evidence from diverse contexts indicates that participatory and preventive measures, such as game-based learning and contextual discovery approaches, can effectively foster student ownership of integrity. At the same time, localized adaptations are essential, as cultural and contextual variations strongly influence perceptions and practices of honesty. Theoretically, this review contributes by positioning academic honesty not merely as rule compliance, but as an integral component of professional identity formation and ethical development in higher education. Practically, the findings inform institutional policy by highlighting the need for integrated integrity frameworks that balance regulation, education, and student participation. For teaching practice, the review underscores the effectiveness of contextual learning models, game-based interventions, and explicit integrity instruction embedded within curricula.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of mental toughness of high school students in facing academic, social, and adolescent developmental pressures, and to review it based on dimensions, grade level, and gender. The study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive type. The study subjects were 242 students of SMAN 3 Sidrap aged 15–18 years who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through a mental toughness questionnaire adopted from Clough's Mental Toughness Questionnaire (MTQ-18), which covers four dimensions: control, commitment, challenge, and confidence. The results of the reliability test showed a Cronbach's alpha value of 0.714, so the instrument was declared to have good reliability. Data were analyzed descriptively with the help of JASP. The results showed that students' mental toughness was generally in the medium category (47.1%), followed by the low category (37.6%) and high (15.3%). In all four dimensions, the medium category also dominated, which indicates that students' mental toughness has developed, but is not yet optimal. Based on grade level, students in grades XI and XII showed a tendency towards better mental toughness compared to those in grade X. Based on gender, male students tended to have higher Mental toughness than female students. This finding confirms that students' mental toughness still needs serious attention in schools. Therefore, the results of this study can be the basis for the preparation of preventive and developmental guidance and counseling services, especially through strengthening adaptive coping so that students are better able to face learning and social pressures, build psychological resilience, and develop optimally in school life.

Abstract

From the Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) perspective, irrational beliefs are posited as the primary catalysts for a myriad of problems, including academic burnout. This study aims to examine the theoretical model of irrational beliefs organization in academic burnout. The hypothesized model delineates the following pathways: (1) from demandingness (DEM) to academic burnout (BURN) via catastrophizing (CAT); (2) from demandingness (DEM) to academic burnout (BURN) via low frustration tolerance (LFT); and (3) from demandingness (DEM) to academic burnout (BURN) via self-depreciation (DEP). To achieve the aim, the study employed a causal relationship design. 424 subjects obtained by stratified random sampling participated in the study. The Indonesian version of the Attitude Belief Scale II and the School Burnout Inventory were used to collect data. Data analysis was carried out using path analysis with SPSS 16. The results show that the hypothesized model has received adequate empirical support after eliminating a path from LFT to BURN. In conclusion, two alternative paths of irrational beliefs contribute to academic burnout: (1) the path from DEM to BURN via CAT; and (2) the path from DEM to BURN via DEP. These results underscore demandingness as a primary irrational belief that affects academic burnout via two other secondary irrational beliefs: catastrophizing and self-depreciation. Conversely, low frustration tolerance does not emerge as a significant contributor to academic burnout within this framework.

Abstract

Academic dishonesty is a significant issue that threatens the integrity of education. Previous studies indicate that internal psychological factors, particularly irrational beliefs, may influence students’ tendencies to engage in such behavior. Based on the framework of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), this study examines the relationships between demandingness (as a primary irrational belief) and catastrophising, self-depreciation, and low frustration tolerance (as secondary irrational beliefs) with academic dishonesty. This research employed a quantitative correlational design involving 104 students of SMAN 1 Maospati selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using the Attitudes and Beliefs Scale II (ABS-II) and an Academic Dishonesty scale, and were analyzed using path analysis. The results indicate that demandingness is significantly related to catastrophising, and catastrophising is significantly associated with academic dishonesty. In contrast, self-depreciation and low frustration tolerance show no significant relationships with academic dishonesty. These findings suggest that catastrophising acts as a cognitive mechanism linking irrational demands to the tendency to engage in academic dishonesty. The study highlights the importance of REBT-based counseling interventions to help students modify catastrophic thinking patterns and prevent academic dishonesty.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine differences in depression, anxiety, and stress across grade levels among students in a cadet-based boarding senior high school. The study employed a quantitative approach with a comparative design. The participants were 423 students from grades X, XI, and XII, with an equal number of respondents in each grade. Data were collected using the 42-item Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-42), which measures three psychological dimensions: depression, anxiety, and stress. Data analysis was conducted through descriptive statistics and group comparison tests using ANOVA and Welch tests according to the characteristics of the data, followed by the Games-Howell test for variables showing significant differences. The findings revealed that grade-level differences emerged only for depression: grade XI students reported higher mean depression scores (M = 6.45, SD = 7.73) than grade X students (M = 4.35, SD = 5.62), Welch’s F(2, 275.7) = 3.62, p = .028, with the Games–Howell test confirming a significant grade X–grade XI difference (p = .027); anxiety and stress did not differ significantly across grades. Across all grades, the group mean scores for the three dimensions remained within the normal-to-mild range of the DASS-42 norms. This study concludes that students’ mental health dimensions in a cadet-based boarding school do not develop uniformly across grade levels. Therefore, guidance and counseling services need to strengthen promotive and preventive efforts that are more responsive to students’ developmental phases, particularly in monitoring depressive symptoms among more vulnerable groups
