Abstract

Abstract

The need for the application of andragogy principles in the adult learning approach is because learning efforts are different from children's learning efforts. Children's learning transmits a number of experiences, knowledge and skills in order to prepare children to face life in the future. In contrast, adult learning emphasizes more on guiding and helping adults to find knowledge, skills and attitudes in order to solve the problems of life they face. The accuracy of the approach used in organizing a learning activity will affect the success of the learning objectives. This study aims to 1) analyze the tutor's andragogy approach according to the learning community in the aspect of communication, 2) analyze the tutor's andragogy approach according to the learning community in terms of physical appearance. The method of collecting data is by distributing questionnaires to 40 residents learning equality education. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis of the quality of the results of the collection of questionnaires, it can be concluded that; 1) the andragogy approach to the performance aspect of tutors in terms of how to communicate tutors according to learning residents is still low/not yet communicative; 2) the andragogy approach in the aspect of tutor performance in terms of physical appearance according to learning residents is still low/less attractive.

Abstract

The background of this research is because of the low learning process and learning outcomes in mathematics by fifth-grade students at SDN 81/II Muara Bungo. This research aims to improve it by using guided discovery learning models. This type of research is classroom action research with two cycles. Each cycle is divided into two meetings. Each meeting is divided into four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. This research targets the fifth-grade students of SDN 81/II Muara Bungo in the second semester of the 2020/2021 academic year. The results of this research data analysis indicate that the use of guided discovery learning models can improve the process and learning outcomes of fifth-grade mathematics at SD 81/II Muara Bungo. The details of observations made by the teacher in the first cycle resulted in an average score of 85.4%. Then in the second cycle, it produced 93.5% as the excellent category. Then the results of observations made by students in the first cycle obtained the percentage value of 68.2% and 87.4% in the second cycle. And classical completeness in the first cycle, the average value of student learning outcomes was 68.2%, increasing to 90.9% in the second cycle. The conclusion is, using guided discovery learning models can improve the process and results of learning mathematics.

Abstract

Mathematics learning will be more meaningful if it uses a cultural context. Therefore an exploration of the mathematical ideas that exist in a culture is needed. The purpose of this study was to determine the fundamental ethnomathematics activities in the process of making beads basket craft and to identify mathematical concepts in beads basket craft. This research is a qualitative research with ethnographic research. The subject of this research is the bead craftsman community in Sungai Tutung, Jambi, Indonesia. The results of this study found that the activity of making bead basket crafts involved counting (e.g. determining the number of colors of each type of bead to be used), locating (e.g. placing beads to make a pattern), measuring (e.g. measuring the length of the rope), designing (e.g. designing bead basket motif), and explaining (e.g. explain the meaning of the motif on the bead basket). In addition, it was also found the concept of geometry and the concept of social arithmetic on the beads basket craft. The researchers recommend using the results of this study in learning mathematics either through direct learning or through the use of learning media.
