Abstract

This study investigates the social factors contributing to non-compliance among students in salaf-inclusive Islamic boarding schools, with a focus on Al-Munawwir Islamic Boarding School, Komplek L, Bantul, Yogyakarta. Employing a sociological approach, the study collected data through observations, questionnaires, interviews, and literature review, analyzed using data reduction, data display, and interpretation techniques. Triangulation was applied to ensure data credibility. Findings reveal that while most students understand the regulations, the lack of periodic socialization by management contributes to non-compliance. The primary reasons for non-compliance are psychological factors such as laziness, fatigue, and external priorities conflicting with mandatory school hours. A smaller portion of students reported non-compliance due to perceived misalignment between regulations and personal beliefs. Recommendations include strengthening regulation socialization, enhancing time management motivation, and implementing effective sanctions. These findings aim to inform policymakers and contribute to academic discourse on regulation compliance in educational institutions.

Abstract

Angels are supernatural creatures created by Allah with various tasks and characteristics given to them. Even though angels are invisible to human senses, the Qur'an proves that the existence and information of angels definitely exists. This research uses the key term angels in the Koran using semantic concepts. The data obtained was by collecting verses that contain the word angel. The primary source was obtained from Toshihiko's book "The Relationship between God and Man". Meanwhile, secondary sources were obtained from journals, theses and websites. The method used is Toshihiko Izutsu's semantic method. Analysis of the words studied uses several stages, including finding basic meaning, relational meaning, synchronic and diachronic aspects. This research aims to find out the word angel in the Koran using Toshihiko Izutsu's semantic perspective. The word angel is mentioned in the Koran 83 times. The word angel has the basic meaning of messenger. Syntagmatically, the word angel includes four meanings, namely: those who obey God's commands and always exalt, those who confirm humans in goodness, those who bring revelation and information from God including happy news for Maryam, and those who take lives. Paradigmatically, the word angel has a synonymous relationship with the words al-Ruh and Harut Marut. Meanwhile, the relationship of anonymity is established with the words Jinn, Devil, and Satan. In the pre-Qur'anic period, the word angel was conceived by pre-Islamic Arabs as well as by the beliefs of people before the revelation of the Koran as very beautiful and attractive creatures. In the Qur'anic period, angels had various glories and nobility but could not be made God or children of God. In the post-Qur'anic era the meaning of angels is seen even more broadly and is not limited to belief.

Abstract

This research discusses a comparative study of the concept of Insan Kamil and Seyyed Hossein Nasr's Pontifical Man. Insan Kamil can simply be interpreted as a perfect human being. Insan Kamil is a concept first coined by Ibn Arabi and developed by Abdul Karim al-Jili, which was then developed by many subsequent scholars. Meanwhile, Seyyed's Pontifical Man is the concept of human nature and how he should act. Pontifical Man in terminology can be interpreted as a papal man, namely the link between earth and heaven. This research is library research. The results of this study indicate that the concept of Pontifical Man thought by Seyyed Hossein Nasr is a modification and codification of the concept of Insan Kamil because Pontifical Man departs from traditional traditions and genealogy of all religions.

Abstract

This study examines the absence of institutional vision and policy in Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Awaliyah (MDTA) in Jambi and analyzes its implications for institutional sustainability. This topic is important because MDTA operates under flexible and general regulations, making internal vision and policy crucial for ensuring organizational direction and long-term viability. The research aims to identify the factors contributing to the lack of vision and policy formulation and to assess their impact on the sustainability of MDTA institutions. Using a qualitative research design, data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with the principals of Madrasah Misbahussadah and Madrasah Raudatul Islamiyah in Jambi, and a document analysis of MDTA regulations issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, as well as relevant literature. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The study reveals three main findings. First, MDTA principals lack a comprehensive and formally documented institutional vision, while policies are largely based on personal experience rather than systematic planning. Second, the absence of vision is driven by limited awareness of its strategic importance, inadequate institutional resources and support, and the lack of training in vision and policy formulation. Third, this condition results in weak institutional direction, reduced attractiveness for qualified teachers, uncertainty in decision-making, and challenges to institutional sustainability. The study emphasizes the significance of structured vision development and policy-making in enhancing MDTA governance. Future research is encouraged to explore capacity-building models and policy interventions to support the sustainable management of religion-based educational institutions in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of a constructivist approach in instilling religious values through the Hadith on cleanliness among elementary school students. Constructivism emphasizes the active role of students in constructing knowledge through direct experience and personal reflection. The research method used is a literature review, analyzing various sources related to constructivist education and the teaching of Islamic values in elementary education. The findings indicate that the constructivist approach can be effectively applied through contextual learning strategies, group discussions, and hygiene-related practices linked to the values of Hadith. This implementation not only improves students’ understanding of the importance of cleanliness in Islam but also fosters consistent religious attitudes in their daily lives. Thus, integrating Islamic values into constructivist-based learning contributes positively to students’ character development.

Abstract

Mah?rah kal?m (speaking skill) is one of four language skills for learning Arabic, the other three skills being istima' (listening), qir?’ah (reading), and kit?bah (writing). When learning to speak Arabic, students deal with both linguistic and non-linguistic challenges. This study used the descriptive analytical method with a qualitative approach to explore barriers in acquiring Arabic mah?rah kal?m. The subjects of this study were college students majoring in Arabic language education at IAIN Langsa, in Aceh. By means of interviews and questionnaire, the study found that impediments to mah?rah kal?m mastery were lack of self-confidence, limitations of introductory vocabulary, poor knowledge of grammar (qaw?’id) and of composition (tar?kib), and discomfort felt by listeners when lacking in conversational understanding. There were non-linguistic factors among the students too: differences in educational background; majoring in Arabic but not as a first choice; a limited language practice environment; and some limitations of teaching methodology. Accordingly, to improve students’ speaking skill, lecturers should seek to develop students’ motivation, memory, and practicing of speaking, by rehearsing examples from texts and from typical situations. To overcome barriers, academic lecturers should create supportive bi’ah lughawiyah, mandatory Arabic-day programs, and the use of media, such as YouTube, to expose students to new mufradah and pattern practices (ushlub).

Abstract

The lack of effective collaboration between teachers and parents in Islamic boarding schools has become a significant issue in Islamic education today. This leads to a decline in the quality of education for santri, resulting in low motivation, poor academic achievement, and a weakening of moral values and ethics among students. This study aims to investigate the collaboration between teachers and parents in improving the moral development of santri at the Qur’anic Islamic Boarding School in Kisaran, North Sumatra. A qualitative descriptive research method was used, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis involved reducing irrelevant data and drawing conclusions based on the collected information. The research findings indicate that the social collaboration between teachers and parents is relatively effective. Teachers and parents regularly meet, communicate the importance of monitoring santri’s activities at both home and the boarding school, and observe their worship practices. There is intense communication between teachers, parents, and santri, creating a strong synergy that helps to strengthen the moral values of the santri. The study also discusses supporting and inhibiting factors for collaboration. Effective collaboration between teachers and parents plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of education and reinforcing the moral values of santri, which is essential for their future development.

Abstract

This study examines the development of citizenship education, Pancasila education, and character formation through a Systematic Literature Review using PRISMA 2020 guidelines. From an initial pool of 394 articles, 15 studies published between 2015–2024 met all inclusion criteria and were analyzed through bibliometric mapping and thematic synthesis. The findings show that research collaboration in this field is still dominated by national networks, although international partnerships have increased in recent years. Research trends indicate a shift from conventional moral instruction toward digital citizenship, global value integration, and character empowerment aligned with contemporary societal demands. Thematic analysis reveals dominant focuses on digital ethics, civic identity, learning innovation, cultural negotiation, and the strengthening of reflective and participatory competencies. Overall, this review highlights that citizenship and Pancasila education have transformed into interdisciplinary spaces that support moral development, social responsibility, and adaptive civic skills. The study also identifies conceptual and methodological gaps, offering recommendations for advancing research and enriching educational practice.
