Abstract

Variabel dependen yaitu kejadian wasting, sedangkan variabel independen meliputi jenis kelamin, usia anak, tempat tinggal, riwayat imunisasi, riwayat pendidikan ibu, sumber air bersih, status bekerja dan status ekonomi keluarga.

Abstract

Parents play a vital role in shaping children's dietary habits, which are influenced by family behaviors, parental health literacy, and socio-economic status. Poor parental health literacy and low socio-economic status often lead to unhealthy child nutrition and lower physical activity. This study investigates the impact of nutritional education on parental knowledge at Yayasan An-Nusyur Aeng Panas, aiming to improve childhood nutrition in resource-limited settings. The research employed a pre-experimental design (one group pre-test post-test) to assess changes in parental knowledge after a 3-hour nutrition education session, delivered by a team of nutritionists from Indonesia and Malaysia. Data were collected from 27 parents of kindergarten students in Sumenep Madura in February 2024 through questionnaires. The results were analyzed using SPSS version 26 and the Wilcoxon Matched-Pairs Test. The findings revealed an increase in participants' knowledge, with a pre-test average score of 84.444 and a post-test average score of 86.667. However, the Wilcoxon test showed no statistically significant difference (p=0.439) between pre- and post-test scores. Despite the knowledge improvement after the education session, the difference was not significant. This suggests that while educational interventions can enhance awareness, further efforts may be required to achieve a measurable impact.

Abstract

Overweight and obesity can be interpreted as abnormal fat accumulation that can cause health problems. The average BMI (Body Mass Index) in adult women has also continued to increase. This study aims to identify the relationship between age, alcohol consumption, cigarette consumption, employment status, economic status, ethnicity and area of "‹"‹residence with the incidence of obesity in women aged 15-49 years in South Africa and determine the most influential factors on obesity. This study is a quantitative study with a design cross-sectional using secondary data from The DHS Program 2016. Respondents in this study were women aged 15 - 49 years in South Africa as many as 1158 people. The dependent variable in this study is the nutritional status of obesity which is classified as obese if BMI ≥25 kg/m2. While the independent variables are age, alcohol consumption, cigarette consumption, employment status, economic status, ethnicity, and area of "‹"‹residence. Data were analyzed by chi-square and logistic regression. The results showed that the factors associated with obesity were age, employment status and economic status (p-value <0.05). The most influential factor is adult age with a range of 25 - 49 years. Therefore, there is a need for behavioral changes in adult women 25-49 years in South Africa and national monitoring evaluation of multisectoral programs for obesity prevention in South Africa.

Abstract

One of the countries in Asia that has a high prevalence of wasting is Timor-Leste. The prevalence of wasting in Timor-Leste is 24% in children aged 15-49 months. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors that influence the incidence of wasting in children aged 15-49 months in Timor Leste. This research is an analysis of secondary data from the 2016 Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) in Timor-Leste using a cross-sectional approach. Informants in this study were mothers of toddlers aged 15-49 years and had toddlers aged 15-49 months. the number of samples in this study were 1,207 mothers. Bivariate analysis was performed by Chi-Square test and multivariate test by logistic regression test. The results showed that the factors that influence wasting are low birth weight, history of breastfeeding and mother's education level. Meanwhile, after being analyzed using logistic regression, the most influencing variables were low birth weight babies with a significant value of 0.028 and an OR value of 0.620.

Abstract

Background: Health inequality often occurs among disadvantaged population groups, including migrants. Currently, the migrant population does not always receive adequate health services. In addition, the health care system is not optimized for migrants, especially in terms of language, access, genomic data and the expertise of medical personnel. The health condition of these migrants is a global problem that needs attention if countries want to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets by 2030. Purpose: to map the latest existing research on the topic of migrant health, both qualitative and quantitative. Methods: narrative literature review and literature search were carried out using an electronic database with the automatic selection feature used in the electronic database according to the specified inclusion criteria. Results: Obtained an overview of inequality in [1] access to health services for migrants in general, [2] utilization of health services and health-seeking behavior, [3] health literacy, [4] health services related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and [5] maternal and child health services. All authors agree on this division of groups. Conclusion: Migrants who do not have documents or are illegal, skin color (black migrants) who migrate to western countries, languages that are not the same, and do not understand their own health conditions due to lack of health education due to language barriers, these factors are obstacles for migrants to achieve equality in countries where migrants have migrated.
