Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is an increase in blood glucose levels, the occurrence of DM can be caused by several factors, such as age, gender, BMI and family history of DM. This study aims to determine the relationship between risk factors and preventive predictors of Diabetes Mellitus in adolescents at SMAN 5 Makassar. The research design used is a quantitative research method using a multiple correlation design with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used stratified sampling with a total sample of 106 teenagers at SMAN 5 Makassar. Research data was taken by distributing questionnaires on risk factors and preventive predictors. The test conducted in this study was the Fisher Exact Test. The results of the Fisher Exact Test showed that there was no relationship between risk factors (age, gender, BMI and family history of DM) with preventive predictors such as knowledge of DM, diet and exercise patterns of DM (age p-value 1.000, gender p-value 0.190 , family history p-value 0.664, BMI p-value 0.397), diet (age p-value 1.000, gender p-value 0.743, family history p-value 0.743, BMI p-value 0.701 and exercise pattern (age p- value 0.052, gender p-value 0.211, family history p-value 1.000, BMI p-value 0.012) The conclusion of this study shows that predictor factors in adolescents such as knowledge of DM, eating patterns and exercise patterns have no relationship with risk factors for DM incidence It is hoped that this research can serve as literature for future researchers.Further research is expected to be able to see the effectiveness of education in the early prevention of diabetes mellitus in adolescents.

Abstract

The coconut plantations in Maffa village are spaced approximately 7 x 9 meters apart, providing enough room for the chili plants to grow. The shading from the coconut plants, at about 45 percent, is suitable for the growth of chili plants. An experiment was conducted to observe the application of local micro-organisms on chili and its influence on the phenotype of chilies in coconut-sheltered conditions also the resistance to anthracnose attacks.. The experiment was held in the Mafa village coconut plantation from November 2022 to March 2023. The research was implemented using factorial treatment based on Randomized Block Design with 30 percent and 45 percent coconut shelter respectively, and the concentration of local micro-organisms is 5ml and 10ml per liter of water, respectively. The observational data was analyzed using the F-test and a treatment difference test at a five percent significance level. The research findings indicated that shade level and local microorganism concentration significantly impacted, the number of brunches, and the fruit weight. The highest chili production was 476.39 g tree-1 harvest-1.Keywords: Chili, micro-organism, coconut plantation.

Abstract

Carrying out the research using a tillage system (no tillage, minimum tillage, maximum tillage) and using chicken manure (no fertilizer, 20 tonnes/ha of chicken manure, 40 tonnes/ha of chicken manure). This research aims (a). to determine the interaction of the tillage system and chicken manure on soil properties and eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) production (b). To determine the effect of tillage systems on soil properties and eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) production (c). To determine the effect of chicken manure on soil properties and eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) production. carried out on Farmers' land in Guaemaadu Village, Jailolo District, West Halmahera Regency, which lasted for three months starting from October to December 2024. The height of the research location was 187 meters above sea level (m asl) with coordinates 01'03'23.55'N 127'27'40.26'E and the soil type was Inceptisol soil. Using a Factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK) with Two Factors. Observations were made on plant height, number of leaves, number of fruit, fruit weight, root length, particle density (BV), bulk density (BJ) and percent soil pore (% soil pore), soil pH and water rate (%KA). The results of the research obtained were that there was an interaction between the maximum tillage system and the dose of chicken manure of 40 tons/ha which had a real influence on root length and fruit weight. The maximum tillage system had a real influence on plant height, number of fruit, fruit weight and percent of soil pores. ton/ha has a real influence on plant height, number of fruit and fruit weight.

Abstract

This study investigates the synergistic interaction of chili and tomato plants in an intercropping system of the home courtyard at Ternate City. Studies were carried out from August 2023 to March 2024 at the Maliaro housing complex, implementing a completely randomized design with three replications in the intercropping treatment with a single plant control. The study results show: (a) the synergistic interaction between chili and tomato plants is significant for the variables of plant height, development of leaf area, fruit set in the maximum growth phase, as well as components of chili and tomato fruit yields as measured by fruit weight and the percentage of healthy and damaged fruit. (b) the real synergistic effect of chilies from tomato plants on each chili plant variable, and (c) the effectiveness of the intercropping system is significantly optimal for chili plant production. Keywords: Chili, Tomato, Intercropping, Interaction, Ternate City.

Abstract

Disobinol is a limonoid compound from the seeds of the Chisocheton macrophyllus plant that has been reported to have anticancer activity against cervical cancer cell lines. Cervical cancer is a type of cancer caused by infection with Human papillomavirus (HPV) types 16 and 18, leading to the transformation of normal cervical epithelial cells into cancerous cells. Previous studies show that Disobinol has a cytotoxic effect on HeLa cells with the IC50 value 52,92 μg/mL (24 hours’ incubation). This study aims to determine the level of apoptosis in HeLa cells treated with Disobinol and observe the DNA fragmentation in HeLa cells undergoing apoptosis. The HeLa cells were treated with Disobinol at concentrations of 26,5 μg/mL (1/2 IC50), 52,3 μg/mL (IC50), and 104,6 μg/mL (2x IC50) and incubated for 24 hours. The level of apoptosis was analyzed by using flow cytometry, and the DNA fragmentation pattern was analyzed by agarose gel electrophoresis. The results showed that Disobinol induces early apoptosis in HeLa cells, although the difference in the percentage of cell death is not very significant, which were 37.05%, 37.7%, and 41.60%, respectively. The DNA fragmentation pattern in HeLa cells treated with various concentrations of Disobinol was also observed on agarose gel. Therefore, Disobinol has the potential to be used as a chemotherapeutic drug or as a lead compound for the treatment of cervical cancer.

Abstract

Understanding Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) is crucial for elementary school teachers to develop students' critical, creative, and analytical thinking abilities. However, many teachers still face challenges in designing HOTS-based learning and developing science literacy and numeracy questions that are relevant to real-world contexts. This study aimed to provide training for teachers in V Koto Kampung Dalam District, Pariaman, in designing HOTS-based learning and digital-based science literacy and numeracy assessments. The method included pre-test, material presentation, post-test, and guided assignments. The results showed a significant improvement in teachers' understanding and skills, with the average pre-test score for HOTS-based learning increasing from 60.43 to 80, and the average score for developing science literacy and numeracy questions rising from 70 to 90 after the training. These findings highlight the importance of continuous training to enhance teachers' competencies in preparing students to face the challenges of the 21st century
