Abstract

The study on the effect of shelter on growth and survival rate of the tiger shrimp (Penaeun monodon Fab.) have been carried out. Three kinds of different shelters and one control were conducted, namely (1) control, (2) shelter with mangrove branch (3) shelter with coconut branch, (4) shelter with bamboo branch. The result showed that the survival rate of tiger shrimp were 52.00%, 78.67%, 64.00%, 68.00%, respectively, while their growth rate were 9.08%, 7.74%, 5.95%, 6.85%, respectively. These findings indicated that the shelter have affected to the survival rate of the tiger shrimp, however, there were no significant difference in the growth of tiger shrimp.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a strategy for the sustainability of shrimp aquaculture using an ecosystem approach or EAA in Pinrang Regency, South Sulawesi. A series of analyzes were carried out, namely the environmental carrying capacity analysis of aquaculture using pond environmental feasibility standards, analysis of critical factors for the sustainability of aquaculture using multidimensional scaling analysis, analysis of the sustainability status of aquaculture using pairwise comparison analysis and analysis of shrimp aquaculture management strategies based on EAA. using hierarchy process analysis. The results showed that the following strategies were needed: a) accelerating spatial planning and implementing programs in accordance with the directions for spatial use and control; b) institutional strengthening of capital cultivators in order to complement and improve facilities and infrastructure in accordance with the SOP; and c) increasing the level of education and providing a social and economic security system for members of the shrimp farming community

Abstract

The red tilapia were cultivated in kolong (above 30 years age of lake of post-tin mining) for four month; on the rate of lead (Pb) biomagnification in the organs (liver, kidney and muscle), given positif correlation from planktons in instestine composition, and its effects to the growth rate has been investigated. Results revealed that in the third month, accumulation of lead in the organs of both species were increased, especially in their livers, above the safe level to be consumed (62.14 mg/kg, 8.41 mg/kg and 15.39 mg/kg, 55.23 mg/kg, respectively), but then were decreased in the fourth month. Abstract

Budi daya lele merupakan komponen penting dalam sektor usaha perikanan air tawar di Kabupaten Tangerang dengan kontribusi lebih dari 70% (senilai Rp109,5 milyar) pada tahun 2018. Meskipun demikian, diperlukan peningkatan produksi di masa yang akan datang dalam rangka mengantisipasi perkembangan dan kebutuhan pasar. Peningkatan tersebut perlu didukung oleh informasi potensi budi daya serta strategi pengembangannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan informasi mengenai karakteristik kegiatan budi daya serta merumuskan strategi pengembangan budi daya lele di Kabupaten Tangerang. Pengambilan data dilakukan melalui survei dengan kuesioner terstruktur selama bulan Oktober 2018 hingga Januari 2019. Metode analisis data terdiri atas analisis deskriptif dan analisis SWOT. Alternatif strategi yang diprioritaskan berdasarkan hasil analisis SWOT yaitu strategi SO (Strength-Opportunities) yang berada pada kuadran I. Peningkatan keterampilan, ketersediaan benih berkualitas, dan penerapan teknolologi informasi diharapkan mampu mendukung efisiensi, produktivitas dan keberlanjutan usaha. Alternatif strategi yang disarankan yaitu: (1) Dinas terkait memfasilitasi pelatihan teknologi intensifikasi budi daya yang ramah lingkungan, serta penyediaan benih unggul; dan (2) Perluasan wilayah pemasaran dan pengembangan usaha dengan memanfaatkan teknologi informasi, serta penguatan kerjasama antar pembudidaya.Title: Evaluation of Catfish Farming System: Production Aspect and Developmental Strategy, (Case studies: Catfish Farmers in Tangerang Regency)Catfish farming is an important element in the freshwater fisheries business in Tangerang Regency that contributes more than 70 percent of total production (Rp. 109.5 billion) in 2018. However, it is necessary to increase the number of future production to anticipate the market demand. This increasing production should be supported with information on potential aquaculture and its development strategies. This study aims to describe the characteristics of aquaculture activities as well as to formulate the development strategies of catfish farming in Tangerang Regency. Data were collected by structured questionnaires from October 2018 to January 2019. Data were analyzed using descriptive and SWOT analysis. Result of SWOT analysis suggests that SO (Strength-Opportunities), which was in quadrant 1, should be prioritized.  Skill improvement, availability of good fingerling, and application of information technology were expected to encourage its productivity, efficiency, and business sustainability. The study suggests following recommendation: (1) Associated agencies facilitate training of green intensification on aquaculture technology and supply superior fingerlings; and (2) Market expansion and business development using information technology, and the intense cooperation among farmers.

Abstract

ABSTRAKSalah satu komoditas ikan air tawar yang menyumbang produksi perikanan terbesar adalah ikan gurame (Osphronemus goramy) yang mempunyai nilai ekonomis tinggi. Pembenihan ikan gurame adalah hal yang penting untuk menjaga keberlanjutan budidaya ikan gurame. Tujuan penelitian adalah menganalisis pengaruh sistem resirkulasi terhadap kualitas air, kelulushidupan benih ikan gurame, dan kelayakan usaha.  Pembenihan ikan gurame pada penelitian ini menggunakan tiga wadah budidaya, yaitu: 1) akuarium dengan sistem resirkulasi (Wadah I); 2) kolam beton sistem air mengalir (Wadah II);  kolam beton sistem pergantian air 30% secara berkala (Wadah III). Parameter yang diamati meliputi kualitas air dan angka kelulushidupan benih ikan gurame, serta kelayakan usahanya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemeliharaan benih ikan gurame pada akuarium dengan sistem resirkulasi mempunyai kualitas air (suhu, oksigen terlarut, dan amoniak) yang terbaik, angka kelulushidupan (average daily growth, average body weight, specific growth ratio, survival rate) yang terbaik, dan membutuhkan modal terbesar pada investasi awal tetapi menghasilkan keuntungan yang lebih tinggi. Pembenihan ikan gurame dengan sistem resirkulasi direkomendasikan karena meningkatkan kualitas air, menghasilkan tingkat kelulushidupan yang tinggi dan menghasilkan keuntungan yang lebih tinggi.ABSTRACTOne of the freshwater fish commodities that contributes to the largest fisheries production is giant gourami (Osphronemus goramy) which has high economic value. Giant gourami hatchling is important to maintain the sustainability of its cultivation. This study aims to analyze the effect of recirculation system to water quality, survival rates, and feasibility of giant gourami hatchling business. Giant gourami hatchling in this study uses three cultivation containers, namely: 1) an aquarium with a recirculation system (Container I); 2) concrete pond with flowing water system (Container II); concrete pond with 30% water change system periodically (Container III). The parameters observed included water quality and survival rate of giant gourami hatchling, as well as the feasibility of their business. The results indicated that the giant gourami hatchling in an aquarium with a recirculation system had the best water quality (temperature, dissolved oxygen, and ammonia), had the best survival rate (average daily growth, average body weight, specific growth ratio, survival rate), and requires the largest amount of capital in the initial investment but yields more returns. Giant gouramy hatchery with a recirculation system is recommended due to improves water quality, results in a high survival rate and generates higher profits.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the different doses of vitamin E in diet toward malondialdehide value and accumulation of heavy metal of Tilapia Oreochromis niloticus (Linnaeus 1758) exposed by lead (Pb). This study consists of four treatments, three replications and one negative control which was analyzed with descriptive method. Vitamin E supplementation treatments in the diet were KN (negative control 0 mg kg-1 , no exposed by lead); KP (positive control 0 mg kg-1 ); P100 (100 mg kg-1 ); P300 (300 mg kg-1 ); P500 (500 mg kg-1 ). Tilapia (13.17±1.06 g fish-1 ) were reared in 15 aquariums (135 liters volume) with a density of 13 fish in each aquarium for 60 days exposed by lead with 9.119 mg L-1 concentrations (except negative control). Fish were fed thrice a day at at 08.00 am, 12.00 pm, and 16.00 pm with the satiation level. An addition of Vitamin E alpha-tocopherol of 100 mg kg-1 in diet exposed by lead could decrease the accumulation of lead and MDA in fish liver of 1.47 mg kg-1 and 5.41 µg g-1, respectively. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh penambahan vitamin E dengan dosis berbeda pada pakan terha- dap nilai malondialdehid hati dan akumulasi logam berat pada tubuh ikan nila Oreochromis niloticus (Linnaeus, 1758) yang terpapar timbal (Pb). Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap dengan empat perlaku- an dan tiga ulangan, dan satu perlakuan kontrol negatif yang diolah secara deskriptif. Perlakuan penambahan vitamin E: KN (kontrol negatif 0 mg kg-1 tanpa paparan Pb); KP (kontrol positif 0 mg kg-1 ); P100 (100 mg kg-1 ); P300 (300 mg kg-1 ); P500 (500 mg kg-1 ). Ikan nila (13,17±1,06 g ekor -1 ) dipelihara dalam 15 akuarium (volume 135 liter) dengan ke- padatan 13 ekor akuarium-1 selama 60 hari paparan Pb konsentrasi 9,119 mg L-1 kecuali kontrol negatif tanpa paparan. Ikan diberi pakan secara at satiation sebanyak tiga kali sehari pada pukul 08.00, 12.00, dan 16.00. Hasil penelitian me- nunjukkan bahwa vitamin E alpha-tokoperol sebanyak 100 mg kg-1 pada pakan ikan nila yang terpapar Pb (timbal) kon- sentrasi 9,119 mg L-1 dapat menurunkan nilai akumulasi logam Pb dan nilai malondialdehid hati ikan mencapai 1,47 mg kg-1 dan 5,41 µg g-1 .

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the performance light spectrum on growth and color quality of juvenile clown loach. The experiment design was a completely randomize design with three replications i.e. R (negative control with room light tube lamp), P (positive control with LED white), M (LED red), H (LED green) and B (LED blue). The juveniles of clown loach with total length (TL) of 3.88±0.19 cm ind-1, standard length (SL) of 3.38±0.19 cm ind-1 and body weight of 0.61±0.11 g ind-1 was rearing with density 18 inds aquarium-1 and fed with blood worm. The best growth performance was found in LED green with survival rate of 96.29±3.21 %, specific growth rate of 2.35±0.27 %, the weight growth of 0.030±0.003 g ind-1 day-1, the growth of total length (TL) 1.69±0.11 cm, the growth of standard length (SL) 1.66±0.29 cm and efficiency of feed 2.90±0.15%. The best color quality performance of botia juvenile was found in LED red based on Toca color quality finder (TFC) for average scoring on body color 35.90, pectoral fin of 42.20 and caudal fin of 38.30, visual color diversity on body color of 41.61±0.57 %, pectoral fin color 75.22±2.69 %, and caudal fin color 67.87±3.89 % and chromatophores cells of 361 cells. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi spektrum cahaya terhadap pertumbuhan dan kualitas warna yuwana ikan botia. Penelitian ini menggunakan RAL (rancangan acak lengkap) yang terdiri atas lima perlakuan dengan tiga ulangan yaitu R (kontrol negatif dengan cahaya ruang lampu tube), P (kontrol positif dengan LED putih), M (LED merah), H (LED hijau), dan B (LED biru). Yuwana ikan dengan panjang total (PT) 3,88±0,19 cm ekor-1, panjang baku 3,38±0,19 cm ekor-1, dan bobot 0,61±0,11 g ekor-1 dipelihara dengan padat tebar 18 ekor per akuarium serta diberi pakan cacing darah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa parameter pertumbuhan yang terbaik diperoleh pada perlakuan LED hijau dengan tingkat kelangsungan hidup sebesar 96,29±3,21%, laju pertumbuhan harian sebesar 2,35±0,27%, pertumbuhan bobot sebesar 0,030±0,003 g ekor-1 hari-1, pertumbuhan panjang total (PT) sebesar 1,69±0,11 cm, pertumbuhan panjang baku sebesar 1,66±0,29 cm, dan efisiensi pakan sebesar 2,90±0,15%. Parameter kualitas warna yang terbaik diperoleh perlakuan LED merah dengan peringkat warna Toca color finder (TFC) pada warna perut sebesar 35,90, sirip dada sebesar 42,20 dan sirip ekor sebesar 38,30, keragaan warna visual pada warna perut sebesar 41,61±0,57 %, warna sirip dada sebesar 75,22±2,69 %, dan sirip ekor sebesar 67,87±3,89 % serta jumlah sel kromatofora sebesar 361 sel.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the density of juvenile snakeheads Channa striata during 24 hours transportation, which results in the highest survival rate, the lowest water quality changes, and the best physiological responses. Physiological responses are used as indicators of fish stress, consist of changes in blood pH value and changes in hematological profile. Research conducted at the laboratory scale with a completely randomized design, with the treatments in the form the density of fish during transport. The test fish used was juvenile of snakehead with an average weight of 2.5 g fish-1. The transport density that used was 30, 45, 60, and 75 fish bags-1. Every treatment has three replicates in the form of transportation bags. The result showed that treatment of a 30 fish bags-1 gave the best results with a survival rate of 98 % after transportation and this value was significantly different compared with other treatments (p<0,05). The changes in water quality also showed the lowest changes with ammonia level 0,031 mgNH3 L-1 and CO2 level 24 mgCO2 L-1 at the end of transportation. Physiological response at 0 hour after transportation also showed that treatment of a 30 fish bags-1 suffered lowest stress with blood pH value 7,59, total red blood cell 2,94 x 106 cel mm-3, total white blood cell 1,95 x 105 sel mm-3, hemoglobin 10,3 gr%, and hematocrit 25,8 %. These values considered as closest normal fish than other treatments. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan kepadatan benih ikan gabus selama pengangkutan 24 jam yang menghasil-kan tingkat kelangsungan hidup tertinggi, perubahan kualitas air terendah, dan respons fisiologis terbaik. Respons fisio-logis digunakan sebagai indikator stres yang dialami ikan, terdiri atas perubahan nilai pH darah dan perubahan gambar-an darah. Penelitian dilakukan pada skala laboratorium dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL), dengan perlakuan be-rupa kepadatan ikan selama pengangkutan. Ikan uji yang digunakan adalah ikan gabus dengan bobot rata-rata 2,5 g per ekor. Kepadatan ikan selama pengangkutan yang digunakan yaitu 30, 45, 60, dan 75 ekor per kantong. Setiap perlakuan dilakukan tiga kali ulangan berupa kantong pengangkutan.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan 30 ekor per kantong memberikan hasil terbaik. Nilai tingkat kelangsungan hidup yang dapat dicapai pada akhir pengangkutan sebe-sar 98% dan berbeda nyata dengan perlakuan lainnya (p<0,05). Perubahan kualitas air selama pengangkutan juga menunjukkan perubahan terendah, dengan konsentrasi amoniak sebesar 0,031 mgNH3 L"1 dan konsentrasi CO2 sebesar 24 mg CO2 L-1 pada akhir pengangkutan. Pengamatan respons fisiologis pada jam ke-0 pascapengangkutan juga menun-jukkan bahwa perlakuan 30 ekor per kantong mengalami stres paling rendah, dilihat dari nilai pH darah sebesar 7,59; total sel darah merah sebesar 2,94 x 106 sel mm-3, total sel darah putih sebesar 1,95 x 105 sel mm-3, kadar hemoglobin sebesar 10,3 g%, dan nilai hematokrit sebesar 25,8%. Nilai tersebut merupakan nilai yang paling mendekati ikan normal dibandingkan perlakuan lainnya.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the optimal temperature and magnesium levels in rearing media to increase the growth of tinfoil barb larvae (Barbonymus schwanenfeldii). The experimental design was arranged in factorial completely randomized design with three replications. The treatment included three temperature viz. 26°C, 28°C, dan 30°C and four additional magnesium viz. 0, 10, 20, 30 mg L-1. Fish stocking density was 1 ind. L-1 with an average length of 2.00±0.03 cm and an average initial weight of 0.33±0.01 g. The result showed that the combination of temperature 28°C with addition magnesium 20 mg L-1 was the best rearing media to increase the growth of tinfoil barb larvae ie. the daily average growth rate was 8.93±0.23% and growth of absolute length was 1.78±0.02 cm. The highest of survival rate (95.24%) also achieved in the treatment of temperature 28°C. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan suhu dan magnesium yang optimal pada pemeliharaan benih ikan tengadak (Barbonymus schwanenfeldii) agar dapat meningkatkan sintasan dan pertumbuhan. Rancangan percobaan yang diguna-kan adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) faktorial dengan tiga ulangan. Perlakuan suhu 26°C, 28°C dan 30°C, perla-kuan magnesium 0, 10, 20 dan 30 mg L-1. Padat tebar ikan adalah 1 ekor L-1 dengan rata-rata panjang total 2,00±0,03 cm dan bobot rata-rata awal 0,33±0,01 g. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa laju pertumbuhan benih tengadak ter-baik dicapai pada suhu 28°C dan penambahan magnesium 20 mg L"1 dengan pertumbuhan bobot spesifik 8,93±0,23% dan pertumbuhan panjang mutlak 1,78±0,02 cm. Sintasan tertinggi 95,24% juga diperoleh pada perlakuan suhu 28°C.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the optimal salinity and calcium levels in rearing media to increase the growth of tinfoil barb seed (Barbonymus schwanenfeldii). The experiment design was arranged in factorial completely randomized design with three replications. The treatment included three media salinity levels, that is, 0 ppt, 3 ppt, 6 ppt and four addition calcium, that is, 0 mg L"1, 10 mg L"1, 20 mg L"1, and 30 mg L"1. Fish stocking density was 1 individu L"1 with an average length of 2.00±0.03 cm and an average initial weight of 0.33 ± 0.05 g. The culture period for one cycle of fish farming was 40 days. The result showed the combination of 3 ppt salinity media and addition 20 mg L"1 calcium was the best rearing media to increase the growth of tengadak fish, that the parameters of daily average growth rate was 6.54±0.19 % and growth of absolute length was 3.49±0.03 cm. Highest survival rate was also achieved by that treatment of 95.24%. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan salinitas dan kadar kalsium optimal pada media pemeliharaan untuk me-ningkatkan pertumbuhan benih ikan tengadak (Barbonymus schwanenfeldii). Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap faktorial dengan tiga ulangan. Perlakuan meliputi tiga salinitas media yaitu 0, 3, dan 6 ppt serta empat penambahan kalsium yaitu 0, 10, 20, dan 30 mg L-1. Padat penebaran ikan adalah 1 ekor L-1 dengan rata-rata panjang total 2,00±0,03 cm dan bobot rata-rata awal 0,33±0,05 g. Masa pemeliharaan ikan berlangsung selama 40 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa salinitas media 3 ppt dan penambahan kalsium 20 mg L"1 merupakan media pemeliharan terbaik untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan benih ikan tengadak dengan laju pertumbuhan bobot rerata harian 6,54±0,19% dan pertumbuhan panjang mutlak 3,49±0,03 cm. Sintasan tertinggi juga ditunjukkan pada perlakuan tersebut yaitu 95,24%.
