Abstract

Synthesizing Global and Indonesian Evidence on Mobile Learning and Student Motivation: A Meta Analytic Approach This study synthesizes evidence from 24 empirical studies (2010–2025) to examine the effect of mobile learning on student motivation. Using systematic review procedures (PRISMA 2020), the analysis compares global and Indonesian findings. The study includes RCTs and quasi-experiments across K-12 and higher education, focusing on student motivation measured by validated instruments. The methodology involved comprehensive searches across international (Scopus, ERIC, PubMed, ProQuest, DOAJ) and Indonesian (Garuda, SINTA) databases, followed by strict application of inclusion criteria aligned with the PICOS framework. Effect sizes were computed using Hedges’ g, with corrections for small sample bias. Moderator analyses explored the influence of app features (gamification, AR, adaptivity), educational level, regional context, and measurement instruments on motivational outcomes. Results show that mobile learning has a positive effect on student motivation, with stronger effects observed in Indonesian studies. Applications that feature adaptive learning, gamification, or AR yield greater motivational benefits. The findings are consistent across studies, suggesting robust evidence for the positive role of mobile learning. These findings are discussed within Self-Determination Theory and the ARCS model, highlighting the importance of culturally responsive and participatory design. The study acknowledges methodological limitations and suggests practical directions for inclusive and scalable mobile learning. The study concludes by advocating for scalable, inclusive mobile learning solutions that integrate motivational frameworks and cultural adaptability.

Data from the World Health Organization (2023) shows that diarrhea accounts for 10% of all deaths in children under five years of age. The prevalence of diarrhea cases in Indonesia in 2022 reached 10.2% (Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, 2023). According to the Indonesian Health Survey (2023), the prevalence of diarrhea in infants ≤ 1 year was 6.4% and in toddlers 1-4 years old reached 7.4%, with 5.8% of cases in the 12-59 month age group. Cirebon City experienced 8,563 cases of diarrhea and Cirebon Regency 30,706 cases (2021). These high numbers make diarrhea one of the leading causes of infant mortality after pneumonia. One of the main causes of transmission of diarrhea-causing agents is through contaminated milk bottles, which can cause gastrointestinal infections. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between bacteria in baby bottles and diarrhea in toddlers. This study used a quantitative, observational, and analytical cross-sectional approach. The research phase began with laboratory testing of baby bottle swabs and data collection on diarrhea in toddlers over the past two months. The population was all mothers of toddlers (8-24 months). The sample used acid-identical sampling, with a minimum sample size of 30 mothers. Univariate and bivariate analyses were used using SPSS.The results showed that the number of bacteria in baby bottles correlated with diarrhea, with a p-value of 0.200 (≥ 0.05). Conclusion: There is no relationship between the number of bacteria in baby bottles and diarrhea. Suggestions include maintaining bottle hygiene by washing and sterilizing them properly, and continuing to provide exclusive breastfeeding to boost children's immune systems. Keywords: Bacteria, Toddler, Baby, Milk Bottle, Diarrhea

Abstract

Calcium is believed to play a role in growth, especially in children under five, and contributes to malnutrition issues in Indonesia. However, national-scale data are very limited to delve deeper into this matter. The study aims to examine the calcium status of children in Indonesia and their nutritional status, including stunting and underweight. A cross-sectional study design using secondary data from the 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) and Study of Nutrition Status of Children Under Five and School-Aged Children 2021, including serum calcium concentration data and anthropometric measurements of body length and body weight. The study subjects were children aged 0-59 months, totaling 550 samples. The study results show the mean value of calcium concentration was 10.00±1.10 mg/dL. As many as 8.2 percent of children experienced deficiency with calcium concentration <9.0 mg/dL. The proportion of stunted and underweight children was 23.27 percent and 9.82 percent, respectively. The average calcium concentration in stunted and underweight children was not significantly different from the normal scores of HAZ and BAZ in children. Calcium status, along with factors such as age and sex, did not show a relationship with nutritional status indicators like height-for-age (HAZ) and weight-for-age (WAZ). Although the prevalence of calcium deficiency among toddlers in Indonesia is relatively low, there are still children with calcium concentrations significantly below the normal range. Further studies are needed to figure out the contribution of calcium to children's growth.
