Abstract

This study aims to describe the traditions at Malay weddings that are often said to be signaled, reluctant to be direct, but always say something by using parables and figuratively indirectly (using rhymes). The Symbolic Meaning of the Langkat Malay Traditional Marriage Procession (A Research on Symbols Containing Meaning at the Face-to-Face Rice Dinner in the Langkat Malay Traditional Wedding Ceremony Reception is a habit, in fact it almost becomes a custom. It is as if the Malays often tell people to think more deeply by using a few words to find their own interpretation. Pantun is part of the nature of Malay people's life, which of course can be used as learning. Even the rhyme itself is always associated with the vast nature. The philosophy of the Malays views nature as mirror of human life. They read nature to understand the existing situation as expressed in the proverb Alam Terbentang Become Guru, so that in the rhyme in the first line there are elements of nature and the next line is put forward the truth. One of the traditional ceremonies and traditions that are full of with the expression is a traditional Malay wedding ceremony This very important ceremony is full of symbols and meanings, both in the form of ceremonial fittings and the expressions used. In this ceremony, many parts are filled with expressions so that the ceremony makes this traditional ceremony feel more sacred, thick, dignified and solemn.

Abstract

AbstrakTujuan penulis dalam artikel ini adalah untuk melestarikan nilai-nilai pemertahanan antar kerabat dan lingkungan melalui tradisi marendeng-endeng. Secara empiris kajian penulis dalam tradisi ini mencakup syair nyanyian yang sering digunakan dalam merendeng-endeng  berdasarkan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskripsi secara makna simbolik dalam budaya etnis mandailing. Tradisi ini sudah mulai hilang di daerah Pamingke Labuhanbatu Utara. Oleh sebab itu penulis membuat penelitian guna untuk melestarikan kembali tradisi lokal di daerah tersebut agar tidak punah. Nilai-nilai yang didapat dalam tradisi marendeng-endeng yaitu  menggambarkan keakraban terhadap sanak saudara melalui metode tradisi merendeng-endeng sekaligus untuk menghibur masyarakat dalam acara pernikahan, aqiqah, dan mengayunkan anak. Abstract

 AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan makna simbolik tradisi peningsetan dan pasang tarub pada upacara pernikahan adat Jawa. Makna simbolik tersebut didapat berdasarkan tiga kategori yaitu benda, peristiwa dan bahasa yang terdapat dalam upacara pernikahan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskripsi, artinya data dalam penelitian berupa kata-kata yang akan dideskripsikan Hasil penelitian didapat berdasarkan teknik pengumpulan data yaitu observasi, wawancara dengan beberapa informan, dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa dari setiap benda yang digunakan dalam upacara pernikahan ada beberapa yang mulai digantikan sebab benda tersebut sudah jarang digunakan. Peningsetan atau yang lazim disebut seserahan sudah menjadi bagian yang umum dalam rangkaian pernikahan di Indonesia. Seserahan yang dulu tidak wajib hukumnya, kini sudah mengakar budaya dan menjadi bagian dari prosesi pernikahan. Sedangkan pasang tarub/tratag kini hanya digunakan dibagian dapur sementara dibagian depan digantikan dengan tenda-tenda pelaminan serta tarub digantikan dengan hiasan bunga-bunga plastik. Bukan hanya pada benda, bahkan beberapa peristiwa dalam upacara pernikahanpun ada yang sudah ditinggalkan karena perubahan zaman dan dianggap kuno sehingga peristiwa tersebut tidak lagi ada dalam upacara pernikahan.Kata kunci : peningsetan, pasang tarub/tratag, pernikahan, adat jawa,makna simbolik

Abstract

Oral literature is a form of literature that is usually considered as a hereditary culture orally or by word of mouth. Oral literature can be in the form of folk tales, legends, fairy tales, myths, and others. Folklore is traditional literature because it is the result of works that were born from a group of people who still strongly adhere to traditional cultural values ??(Dharmojo, 1998:21). Traditional literature is sometimes referred to as folklore and is considered a common property. It grew from a strong collective consciousness in the old society. Danandjaja (1986:2) suggests that folklore is part of a collective culture that is spread and passed down from generation to generation, among any kind of collective, traditionally in different versions, both in oral form and examples accompanied by gestures or reminder aids. mnemonic devices). From this opinion, it can be concluded that folklore is an anonymous story or story from ancient times that lived among the community and was passed down orally or from generation to generation as a suggestion to convey a message or mandate.

Abstract

Tradition is one of the habits passed down from generation to generation by a group of people based on developing cultural values. The number of traditions that develop in each region is a culture that has been successfully preserved so that future generations will still know how the traditions and culture of certain tribes or ethnicities are. In this paper, the author aims to provide an understanding and description of the study of oral traditions owned by the Mandailing Tribe. The form of tradition discussed in this study is the Batak Mandailing Marhata-Hata Marriage Tradition: "Mulak Ari". The methodology used is descriptive qualitative approach and data analysis method using content analysis method. The conclusion of this research is that in the Mandailing Batak community, the Marhata-hata Marriage Customary tradition has until now been believed to have benefits and it is believed that if you carry out this tradition, it will bring blessings. Mulak Ari's oral literature in the wedding ceremony was spoken at Jorong Paroman Bondar. Marhata-hata is spoken by traditional leaders (hatobangon). Mulak Ari is the final part of a series of ceremonies held at the bride's house and attended by the bride and groom, the entire family who held the party, traditional leaders, and invitees.

Abstract

Kajian ini adalah sebuah kajian poskolonial yang mendeskripsikan resistenis yang terjadi dalam novel Tak Ada Esok karya Mochtar Lubis. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif dan dekonstruksi. Agar mudah dalam melakukan penelitian kajian poskolonial, digunakan juga pendekatan unsur intrinsik. Fokus pada penelitian ini terkait dengan perlawanan radikal maupun pasif dan mimikri yang terjadi pada novel Tak Ada Esok, untuk menggambarkan dan mendeskripsikan perlawanan dan mimikri tersebut, terlebih dahulu dikaji perilaku orientalis yang terdapat dalam novel Tak Ada Esok. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan: (1) perilaku orientalisme yang terdapat di dalam novel Tak Ada Esok merupakan dominasi yang dilakukan oleh Belanda agar dapat mengeksploitasi negera Indonesia, serta perilaku orientalisme juga dilakukan oleh Johan bersama pasukan gerilyawan. (2) Resistensi yang terjadi dalam novel Tak Ada Esok adalah perlawan tokoh Johan dan Hassan bersama Sudiarto dengan pasukan gerilyawan yang melakukan mimikri untuk meruntuhkan kekuasaan Jepang dan Belanda, hal itu di dalam kajian poskolonial disebut resistensi radikal dan mimikri yang dilakukan oleh tokoh Johan dan Hassan bersama Sudiarto, merupakan mimikri untuk bertahan hidup agar dapat meruntuhkan kekuasaan Belanda, dengan pasukan gerilyawan, Johan melakukan perlawanan secara langsung atau kontak fisik, hal itu di dalam kajian poskolonial disebut resistensi radikal.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui pandangan dunia pengarang dalam kumpulan cerpenya,(2) mengetahui latar belakang sejarah atau peristiwa sosial masyarakat Bojonegoro yang mengondisikan terciptakanya kumpulan cerpen tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan struktur pendekatan strukturalisme genetik. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan mengacu pada teori strukturalisme genetik. Hasil penelitian bahwa struktur dalam kumpulan cerpen mencuri kisah dari pembaringan karya Sarwo M. Djantur dengan latar belakang pengarang dan peristiwa sosial atau masyarakat Bojonegoro serta berbagai daerah di indonesia. Berdasarkan hasil analisis pada data penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa secara umum, pandangan dunia pengarang dunia nasionalisme, humanisme, tradisionalisme, dan religius. Struktur sosial masyarakat bojonegoro atau pun indonesia yang digambarkan pengarang dalam karyanya.

Abstract

This study aims to produce and determine the effectiveness of interactive material for writing non-literary texts based on flipbooks for class X students of MAN 2 Langkat. This research is a Research and Development (RnD) research using the ADDIE development model. There are three subjects in this development research. The first, validators consist of two material experts and two design experts. The four validators are Postgraduate Lecturers at Medan State University. Second, two teachers of Indonesian subjects. And the last are the students of class X MAN 2 Langkat totalled 96 people from three different classes, namely X MIA, X IIS, and X IIA. The data collection instruments used were in the form of a teacher needs analysis questionnaire, a student needs analysis questionnaire, a material and media expert validation sheet, a teacher validation sheet, and a student response sheet. Individual trials obtained "good" criteria with an average percentage of 88.5%. The small group trial obtained the criteria of "very good" with an average percentage of 89.8%. The wider trial obtained the criteria of "very good" with an average percentage of 89.5%. The effectiveness of the interactive material for writing non-literary texts based on flipbooks developed shows higher student learning outcomes with an average pre-test score of 73.4% with the lowest score being 62, and the highest score being 82. While the post-test average score -test is 86.7% with the lowest score is 75 and the highest score is 94. Based on these data, it can be concluded that the interactive material for writing non-literary texts based on flipbooks is effective and can improve student learning outcomes, especially in writing non-literary texts.

Abstract

The presence of a child is a dream for every married couple. The presence of a child in the family is a complement to happiness. In welcoming this happiness, many traditional events are held in each region. In South Tapanuli, the welcome ceremony is an oral tradition that is usually carried out. This manyonggot-ngonggoti event is usually carried out by the family of the woman. Manyonggot-nyonggoti aims to provide prayers and strength for prospective mothers and their unborn babies. In this ritual, a lot of equipment is needed. Both from food and tools. All these ingredients are united in a medium called upa - upa. These food ingredients are arranged in such a way to be enjoyed by the mother-to-be and her baby-to-be. Upa - upa has the meaning of each symbol. These symbols of food ingredients have their own meaning to be given to the mother-to-be and her baby. Some symbols of food ingredients in this ceremony are eggs, goldfish, salt and many others. To find out the meaning of each symbol, a semiotic analysis was carried out. The data is taken from the results of interviews with several traditional leaders and literacy from several references.
