Abstract

Women working as parking attendants represent an emerging gender dynamic within the informal employment sector. This study aims to explore the lived experiences of women working as parking attendants through a phenomenological approach. Drawing on Alfred Schutz’s phenomenological theory, particularly the concepts of because-motive and in-order-to motive, this study employs a qualitative research design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and literature review, while informants were selected using purposive sampling. The primary subject of this study was a female parking attendant working at Wonokromo Station, Surabaya. The findings indicate that women’s involvement in parking attendant work is driven by because-motives such as economic pressures within the household, limited educational background, the availability of informal job opportunities, and situational constraints. Meanwhile, their in-order-to motives reflect aspirations to leave this occupation and seek more secure and socially valued employment. Although this occupation provides a relatively sufficient income, the informants expressed a strong desire to transition to jobs that better align with their personal circumstances, long-term needs, and social expectations. This study contributes to discussions on gender, informal labor, and women’s agency by highlighting how economic necessity intersects with personal aspirations in shaping women’s participation in informal work.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an early detection system for heart rate anomalies in autistic children based on Heart Rate Variability (HRV) to prevent tantrum behavior that can endanger the child's physical and psychological health. Based on previous research, children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) show a significant increase in heart rate (HR), especially when experiencing stress or anxiety, with some cases reaching above 120 bpm. At the same time, control groups such as children with language disorders do not show a similar pattern. This leads to the hypothesis that physiological monitoring using non-invasive technologies, such as Photoplethysmography (PPG), can detect changes in HR before a tantrum occurs. The purpose of this study is to design a wearable device based on a pulse sensor and NodeMCU that can integrate HR in real-time, extract HRV features in the frequency domain (VLF, LF, HF, and LF/HF ratio), and classify normal and anomalous conditions using the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm. The system is designed to notify parents or caregivers via a Telegram bot when HR exceeds 114 bpm. The research methodology was experimental, conducted on two subjects: a 7-year-old boy and a girl on the autism spectrum during learning, quiet, and tantrum activities. Results showed that HRV parameters increased significantly during the tantrum condition and even during learning, indicating activation of the sympathetic nervous system. The SVM classifier achieved 98.9% accuracy in the tantrum condition, 82% in the learning condition, but only 61.1% in the transition from quiet to tantrum. Overall, the system proved effective at detecting hyperactivity but still requires further development regarding data volume, subject variation, and improvements in accuracy during the transition phase for widespread implementation. Abstract

Social-emotional development is a fundamental aspect of early childhood growth that greatly influences children’s future quality of life. Preliminary observations at Bunga Tanjung Kindergarten, Tanjung Village, Bathin VIII District, Sarolangun Regency indicated that children’s social-emotional abilities were not yet optimal, as reflected in low self-confidence, limited social interaction, difficulties in cooperation, and limited emotional regulation. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of singing activities, particularly Islamic-themed songs, to develop the social-emotional skills of Group B children. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The subjects of the study consisted of teachers and Group B children, while data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, and the validity of data was ensured through triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The findings revealed that the planned and continuous implementation of singing activities created an enjoyable learning environment, increased children’s participation, and improved empathy, cooperation, and emotional control. However, several constraints were identified, including differences in children’s characteristics, limited learning facilities, and variations in teachers’ competence in managing singing activities. The study concludes that Islamic themed singing activities are effective as a learning strategy to support the development of social-emotional skills in early childhood education.

Abstract

Turi Highway is a vital infrastructure in Lamongan Regency that supports the distribution of agricultural and trade commodities. High traffic intensity, particularly from heavy vehicles, leads to significant pavement damage. This study aims to calculate the Equivalent Standard Axle (ESA) based on actual traffic data and determine the appropriate pavement type using the 2017 Road Pavement Design Manual (MDPJ). A seven-day traffic survey during peak hours was conducted, and the data were converted into Average Daily Traffic (LHR), Passenger Car Unit (SMP), Vehicle Damage Factor (VDF), daily ESA, annual ESA, and Cumulative ESA (CESA) for a 15-year design life. The results showed that the total 6-hour LHR was 15,982 vehicles/day, while the 24-hour LHR was 24,613 vehicles/day. The average daily ESA was 2,070.6, with an annual ESA of 755,769 ESA/year, and a 15-year CESA of 11,336,535. The subgrade CBR value was 6.8%, rounded to 7%, classified as weak soil. Based on these findings, the recommended pavement type is rigid pavement with a 27 cm concrete slab, 10 cm lean concrete, and 15 cm aggregate base layer.

Abstract

This research introduces a multi-class tooth-level segmentation framework on panoramic radiographs using YOLOv8, trained on clinically annotated Indonesian dental data. A dataset of 302 annotated panoramic radiographs from patients at Universitas Andalas Dental Hospital was utilized, with each tooth precisely labeled according to international dental nomenclature. The model was trained using transfer learning with the YOLOv8 variant, optimized with the Adam algorithm, and evaluated using precision, recall, F1-score, and Intersection over Union (IoU). The results demonstrate that YOLOv8 is not only effective for lesion detection but also robust for fine-grained anatomical dental segmentation. The performance achieved 93.72% accuracy, 92.67% precision, 98.88% recall, and 95.58% F1-score, indicating high accuracy in tooth detection and boundary delineation. Qualitative analysis confirmed accurate segmentation across a wide range of anatomical variations, including crowding, impaction, and prosthetics. This research establishes YOLOv8 as a highly effective tool for dental image segmentation, offering significant potential to improve diagnostic efficiency, support odontological forensics, and enable automated patient record management. Future work will focus on integrating multi-class pathology detection and 3D reconstruction.
