Abstract

This study attempts to evaluate the use of oils of purslane Portulaca oleracea as a source of an essential fatty in feed of common carp Cyprinus carpio to replace fish oil. The experiment used completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications, respectively. Feed treatment consists of fish oil, corn oil and coconut oil (P0), purslane seed oil and coconut oil (P1), corn oil and coconut oil (P2), and coconut oil (P3). Fishes with initial body weight 3.11±0.05 g reared in 50x40x35 cm3 aquariums with a density of 10 fish aquarium-1 during 60 days rearing periods. Results showed that diet P1 have different effects (p<0.05) which had the highest daily growth rate (3.5±0.1%), feed efficiency (71.7±4.9%), protein retention (22.1±1.9%) and lipid retention (81.4±4.5%). The survival rate, hepatosomatic index, cholesterol, triglycerides, high density lipoprotein and low density lipoprotein showed no difference (p>0.05). The fatty acid composition of the carps’s body on diet P1 was total of saturated fatty acid 21,4%, monounsaturated fatty acid 36,9%, n-3 fatty acids 10,4%, n-6 fatty acids 16,1% and ratio n-3/n6 is 0,6. Thus, it can be concluded that purslane seed oil can replace fish oil in carp. Abstrak Penelitian bertujuan mengkaji pemanfaatan minyak biji krokot Portulaca oleracea sebagai sumber asam lemak esensial pada pakan ikan mas Cyprinus carpio untuk menggantikan minyak ikan. Percobaan menggunakan rancangan acak leng-kap, terdiri atas empat perlakuan dan tiga ulangan. Pakan perlakuan terdiri atas minyak ikan, minyak jagung, dan minyak kelapa (P0), minyak biji krokot, dan minyak kelapa (P1), minyak jagung dan minyak kelapa (P2), dan minyak ke-lapa (P3). Ikan mas dengan bobot 3,11±0,05 g dipelihara dalam akuarium berukuran 50x40x35 cm3 dengan padat tebar 10 ekor akuarium-1 selama 60 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perlakuan P1 menghasilkan nilai laju pertumbuhan harian (3,5±0,1%), efisiensi pakan (71,7±4,9%), retensi protein (22,1±1,9%), dan retensi lemak (81,4±4,5%) tertinggi dan memberikan pengaruh yang nyata (p<0,05). Parameter tingkat kelangsungan hidup, indeks hepatosomatik, koles-terol, trigliserida, high density lipoprotein, dan low density lipoprotein tidak menunjukkan adanya perbedaan (p>0,05). Komposisi asam lemak tubuh ikan mas pada perlakuan P1 yaitu total asam lemak jenuh sebesar 21,4%, asam lemak tak jenuh tunggal sebesar 36,9%, n-3 sebesar 10,4%, n-6 sebesar 16,1% dan rasio n-3/n-6 sebesar 0,6. Abstract

Giant gourami (Osphronemus goramy) has a relatively slow growth. One way to increase the growth of giant gourami is to provide additional materials (feed additives). The active substance curcumin in turmeric can stimulates the gall bladder wall to secrete bile and essential oils to prevent excessive stomach acid secretion. This study aimed to evaluate the different dose of turmeric extract in the feed that can affect digestive enzymes and growth performance of giant gourami. The turmeric extract mixed into the diet with 4 doses i.e.: 0 (control); 0.05; 0.10; and 0.15%. Fishes (4.20±0.08 g) were reared in 12 aquariums (50 x 40 x 35 cm3) with density of 10 fishes in 40 L for 60 days. Fishes were reared with recirculating system using top filter and fed at satiation two times daily at 08.00 and 16.00. Some parameters were measured including blood biochemistry (cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL and glucose), feeding consumption, specific growth rate, feed efficiency, survival rate, protein retention, lipid retention, hepatosomatic index (HSI), lipid content of liver, and glycogen content of liver. Experimental design was set according to completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications. Data growth performance and liver parameters were statistically analysed by ANOVA (one-way analysis of variance) using SPSS 17.0. The significant parameters (p<0.05) then analysed by Tukey’s test. The blood biochemical parameters (cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL and glucose) were descriptively analysed. The result showed that turmeric extract 0.15% in the feed could affect the blood biochemistry but not the growth performance of giant gourami. Abstrak Ikan gurame (Osphronemus goramy) memiliki pertumbuhan yang relatif lambat. Salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan ikan gurame dengan memberikan bahan tambahan. Kunyit memiliki zat aktif kurkumin yang merangsang dinding kantung empedu untuk mengeluarkan cairan empedu dan minyak atsiri mencegah keluarnya asam lambung yang berlebihan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pemberian ekstrak kunyit dengan dosis yang berbeda pada pakan yang dapat memengaruhi biokimia darah dan kinerja pertumbuhan ikan gurame. Ekstrak kunyit dicampurkan ke dalam pakan dengan 4 dosis yaitu: 0; 0,05; 0,1; dan 0,15%. Ikan gurame (4,20±0,08 g) dipelihara dalam 12 akuarium (50 x 40 x 35 cm3) dengan kepadatan 10 ekor dalam 40 L selama 60 hari. Ikan dipelihara menggunakan sistem resirkulasi top filter dan diberi pakan secara at satiation sebanyak dua kali sehari pada pukul 08.00 dan 16.00. Parameter uji yang diamati yaitu biokimia darah (kolesterol, trigliserida, HDL, LDL, dan glukosa), jumlah konsumsi pakan, laju pertumbuhan harian, efisiensi pakan, kelangsungan hidup, retensi protein, retensi lemak, indeks hepato-somatik, kadar lemak hati, dan kadar glikogen hati. Rancangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak lengkap dengan empat perlakuan dan tiga ulangan. Data kinerja pertumbuhan dan parameter hati dianalisis secara statistik dengan ANOVA menggunakan program SPSS 17.0. Parameter yang berbeda nyata (p<0,05) dilakukan uji lanjut menggunakan analisis Tukey. Parameter biokimia darah dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak kunyit 0,15% pada pakan dapat memengaruhi biokimia darah tetapi tidak memengaruhi kinerja pertumbuhan ikan gurame.

Abstract

Intensive aquaculture system decreases water quality through the increment of metabolic waste products such as organic nitrogen. The biofloc technology is an alternative solution to avoid the impact of high nutrients disposal in aquaculture production system. This study aimed to evaluate the impacts of biofloc technology using different carbon sources on the production performance of juvenile striped catfish, Pangasianodon hypophthalmus. Completely randomized design with 4 treatments (3 replications) was used in this research i.e.: (A) molasses carbon source, (B) tapioca carbon source, (C) wheat carbon source, and (D) without additional carbon. The juveniles length 2.26±0.12 cm, initial average body weight 0.17±0.05 g were reared for 30 days. Twelve glass tanks (60 cm x 30 cm x 40 cm) filled with 36 L freshwater were used as the experimental culture units. The fish were fed three times daily with a commercial feed containing 27% of crude protein. External organic carbon was added daily two hours after feeding at C/N 15 estimated ratio. The observed parameters i.e.: floc profile, the nutritional content of biofloc, water quality, survival rate, final body length, daily growth rate, feed conversion ratio, protein retention, and lipid retention. The best results showed by molasses treatment, the highest fish survival rate (97.41±0.16 %), longest standard length (2.84±0.1 cm) and decreased feed conversion ratio (0.36±0.04). Abstrak Sistem budi daya intensif menurunkan kualitas air melalui peningkatan produk sisa metabolisme seperti nitrogen or-ganik. Penerapan teknologi bioflok adalah solusi alternatif untuk menghindari dampak buruk pembuangan nutrisi tinggi dalam sistem produksi akuakultur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh teknologi bioflok yang menggunakan sumber karbon berbeda pada kinerja produksi yuwana ikan patin (Pangasianodon hypophthal-mus). Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap dengan empat perlakuan (tiga kali ulang-an) yaitu: (A) sumber karbon molase, (B) sumber karbon terigu, (C) sumber karbon tapioka, dan (D) tanpa penam-bahan karbon. Yuwana ikan patin berukuran panjang awal 2,26±0,12 cm ekor-1 dan bobot rata-rata awal 0,17±0,05 g ekor-1 dipelihara selama 30 hari. Dua belas akuarium (60 cm x 30 cm x 40 cm) diisi dengan air 36 L digunakan seba-gai unit percobaan budi daya. Ikan diberi makan tiga kali sehari dengan pakan komersial mengandung protein 27%. Penambahan karbon dilakukan setiap hari 2 jam setelah makan dengan estimasi rasio C/N 15. Parameter pengamatan meliputi: profil flok, kandungan nutrisi tepung flok, kualitas air, kelangsungan hidup, pertumbuhan panjang baku, la-ju pertumbuhan harian, rasio konversi pakan, retensi protein, dan retensi lemak. Perlakuan dengan penambahan sumber karbon molase menunjukkan kelangsungan hidup tertinggi (97,41±0,16 %), pertumbuhan panjang baku (2,84±0,1 cm), dan menurunkan rasio konversi pakan (0,36±0,04).

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of cinnamon Cinnamomum burmannii leaves extract addition with different doses in the diet for the growth performance of catfish Pangsianodon hypophthalmus. This study consisted of five treatments and three replications. The cinnamon leaves extract mixed into the diet with 5 doses i.e: 0 (control); 0.5; 1; 2; and 4 g kg-1 diet. Catfish (7.43+0.01 g) were reared in 15 aquariums (160 litres volume) with a density of 30 fishes in each aquarium for 60 days. Fishes were fed at satiation three times daily at 08.00, 12.00, 16.00 WIB. The addition of cinnamon leaves extracts in the amount of 1 g kg-1 diet showed the optimal result because this dose can improve protein retention and feed efficiency in a value at 24.6% and 23.4% with the same growth rate with the treatment without additional cinnamon leaves extract (control). Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh penambahan ekstrak daun kayu manis Cinnamomum burmannii dengan dosis berbeda pada pakan terhadap kinerja pertumbuhan ikan patin Pangasianodon hypophthalmus. Penelitian ini terdiri atas lima perlakuan dan tiga ulangan. Ekstrak daun kayu manis dicampurkan ke dalam pakan dengan lima dosis yaitu: 0 (kontrol); 0,5; 1; 2; dan 4 g kg-1 pakan. Ikan patin (7,43+0,01 g) dipelihara dalam 15 akuarium (volume 160 liter) dengan kepadatan 30 ekor/akurium selama 60 hari. Ikan diberi pakan secara at satiation sebanyak tiga kali sehari pada pukul 08.00, 12.00 dan 16.00. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan ekstrak daun kayu manis sebanyak 1 g kg-1 pakan memberikan hasil yang optimal karena dapat meningkatkan retensi protein dan efisiensi pakan sebesar 24,6% dan 23,4% dengan laju pertumbuhan yang sama dengan perlakuan tanpa penambahan ekstrak daun kayu manis (kontrol).

Abstract

Aeromonas hydrophila causes Motile Aeromonads Septicemia disease in catfish. Phytopharmaca can be performed as an alternative to increasing the nonspecific immune response of catfish. One of the potentially phytopharmaca is cinnamon, Cinnamomum burmanii. This study was conducted to evaluate the potential of cinnamon leaves to increase the nonspecific immune responses of infected catfish by A. hydrophila. Cinna-mon leaf extract was given through fish diet at doses 0.5% and 1% for fourteen days. The challenge test was performed on the day 15. The method used in this study was a completely randomized design with six treatments and three replications. The six treatments were the preventive treatment of 0.5% (A) and 1% (B), the controlling treatment of 0.5% (C) and 1% (D), negative control (K -) and positive control (K +). The results showed that the controlling treatment of 0.5% (C) was the best treatment with the phagocytic activi-ty of blood cells of 77.59±2.50% and respiratory burst activity of 0.072 ± 0.004 after challenge test. More-over, the survival rate of fish was 100% in the C treatment, whereas in the positive control (K+) only 63.33%. Abstrak Bakteri Aeromonas hydrophila dapat menyebabkan penyakit Motile Aeromonads Septicaemia pada ikan patin. Penggunaan fitofarmaka dilakukan sebagai alternatif peningkatan respon imun non spesifik ikan patin. Salah satu bahan fitofarmaka yang dapat dimanfaatkan adalah tumbuhan kayu manis Cinnamomum burmanii. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi potensi daun kayu manis dalam meningkatkan respon imun non spesifik ikan patin yang diinfeksi A. hydrophila. Daun kayu manis diberikan dalam bentuk ekstrak melalui pakan dengan dosis 0,5% dan 1% selama 14 hari. Uji tantang dilakukan pada hari ke-15. Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan enam perlakuan dan masing-masing tiga ulangan. Perlakuan pencegahan 0,5% (A) dan 1% (B), perlakuan pengendalian 0,5% (C) dan 1% (D), serta kontrol negatif (K-) dan positif (K+). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan C merupakan hasil terbaik dalam meningkatkan respon imun non spesifik pada ikan patin pascauji tantang. Hal tersebut terlihat dari peningkatan aktifitas fagositik 77,59±2,50% dan aktifitas ledakan respiratori 0,072±0,004 ikan patin dan juga pada dosis ini tingkat kelangsungan hidup ikan mencapai 100% sementara pada kontrol positif tingkat kelangsungan hidup ikan hanya 63,33%.

Abstract

The main problems that were encountered in the larval rearing of African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) is the availability of live feed such as silk worms that are limited to the initial stadia, so that needs to be combined with artificial diet. The aim of this experiment was to evaluate the giving of appropriate combination and artificial diet the development digestive enzymes and growth of African catfish larvae. The experimental design was arranged in completely randomized design with three replications. The treatment included a combination of and artificial diet with giving of PA (100%), giving of PA75+PB25 (75% and artificial diet 25%), giving of PA50+PB50 (50% and artificial diet 50%), giving of PA25+PB75 (25% and artificial diet 75%), and giving of PB (artificial diet 100%). Result of the experiment showed that feeding with a combination of 50% silk worms and 50% artificial diet influence on the development of the digestive system and the activity of digestive enzymes (amylase, lipase and protease) as well as produces specific growth rates of 23.56±1.08% /day and growth of absolute length of 8.43±0.75 cm. Higher survival rate was achieved by treatment giving PA of 89.61±4.35%. Abstrak Masalah utama yang dihadapi pada pembenihan ikan lele dumbo (Clarias gariepinus) adalah ketersediaan pakan alami berupa cacing sutra yang sering kali terbatas ketika dibutuhkan untuk pemeliharan larva ikan lele pada stadia awal, se-hingga perlu dikombinasikan dengan pakan buatan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi pemberian kombinasi cacing sutra dan pakan buatan terhadap perkembangan enzim pencernaan dan pertumbuhan larva ikan lele dumbo. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan lima perlakuan dan tiga ulang-an. Perlakuan meliputi kombinasi pakan buatan dan cacing sutra dengan perlakuan pemberian PA (cacing sutra 100%), pemberian PA75+PB25 (cacing sutra 75% dan pakan buatan 25%), pemberian PA50+PB50 (cacing sutra 50% dan pakan buatan 50%), pemberian PA25+PB75 (cacing sutra 25% dan pakan buatan 75%) dan pemberian PB (pakan buatan 100%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pakan dengan kombinasi cacing sutra 50% dan pakan buatan 50% berpengaruh terhadap perkembangan sistem pencernaan dan aktivitas enzim pencernaan (amilase, lipase dan protease) serta menghasilkan laju pertumbuhan spesifik 23,56±1,08%/hari dan pertumbuhan panjang 8,43±0,75 cm. Ke-langsungan hidup tertinggi ditunjukkan pada perlakuan pemberian PA sebesar 89,61±4,35%.

Abstract

Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the utilization of corn distillers dried grain with soluble (DDGS) as plant raw material for giant gourami Osphronemus goramy diet. The digestibility of protein and dry matter was observed in the first experiment by using indirect methods and Cr2O3 was used as a tracer. A forty days feeding experiment was performed on the second stage of experiment to observe the effect of DDGS levels on the growth and feeding performance of giant gourami. The juvenile giant gourami were used in the experiment with initial weight around 4.7±0.78 g and reared in aquarium (35 x 40 x 50 cm3) and filled with 50 L treated water at a density of 0.2 fish L"1. Four experimental diets was formulated with contain similar protein (40%) and energy 500 kcal GE 100 g-1, but differ in the levels of DDGS that were 0, 10%, 20%, and 30% (Diet A, B, C and D). Fish were fed three times daily at the satiation levels. A completely randomized experimental design consisted of four treatments and three replicates were used. The result showed that DDGS digestibility value of protein and total was 85.35% and 70.10% respectively. Increasing DDGS levels in the diet could not effect significantly on survival rate, daily growth rate and feed consumption (P>0.05). Feed efficiency and protein retention on fish fed with DDGS content of up to 20% were not different compared with the control diet (0%); whereas, feeding with diet D (DDGS 30%) were reduced feed efficiency and protein retention. In conclusion, the diet containing DDGS at the level of 20% (diet C) was support the best growth performance of juvenile gouramy. Abstrak Dua macam penelitian dilakukan untuk mengkaji pengaruh penggunaan distillers dried grain with solubles (DDGS) sebagai sumber protein nabati terhadap pertumbuhan benih ikan gurame Osphronemus goramy Lac. Penelitian ini terdiri atas penelitian kecernaan dan kinerja pertumbuhan. Pada pengukuran kecernaan digunakan motede tidak langsung dengan menggunakan kromium trioksida (Cr2O3) sebagai indikator. Pada penelitian kinerja pertumbuhan digunakan empat macam pakan dengan isoprotein (40%) dan isoenergi (500 kcal GE 100 g-1) dengan kadar DDGS yang berbeda. Pakan A (pakan kontrol, DDGS 0%) sedangkan pakan B, C dan D mengandung DDGS masing-masing sebesar 10, 20 dan 30%. Juwana ikan gurame dengan bobot rata-rata 4,7±0,78 g dipelihara selama 40 hari dalam akuarium berukuran 35 x 40 x 50 cm3 dengan kepadatan 0,2 ekor per liter. Ikan diberi pakan sampai kenyang dengan frekuensi tiga kali se-hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ikan gurame mampu mencerna protein DDGS sebesar 85,35% dan 70,10% untuk total bahan. Peningkatan DDGS dalam pakan tidak memberikan pengaruh yang nyata terhadap konsumsi pakan, laju pertumbuhan harian dan kelangsungan hidup benih ikan gurame (p>0,05). Ikan yang diberi pakan dengan kandungan DDGS hingga 20% memiliki nilai efisiensi pakan dan retensi protein yang tidak berbeda dibandingkan dengan pakan kontrol; sedangkan pemberian DDGS sebesar 30% dalam pakan menurunkan nilai tersebut. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pakan C dengan kadar DDGS 20% dalam pakan memberikan hasil yang terbaik terhadap kinerja pertumbuhan benih ikan gurame.

Abstract

This research was conducted to evaluate the effect of supplementation of crude enzyme from rumen fluid in the natural protein-based diet for the growth performance of nile tilapia. The weight average of nile tilapia juvenile which used in this research was 6.10±0.49 g. The fish were reared in the aquarium with measuring 35 x 40 x 50 cm3 with a density of eight fish per aquarium for 54 days. Aquariums equipped with recirculation system. Fish were fed ad libitum three times a day. Four types of feed that used in this research have the similar protein content (28% and 4,050 kcal GE kg-1). All feed were supplemented with different level of crude enzyme namely 0 ml kg-1 (diet A), 200 ml kg-1 (diet B), 400 ml kg-1 (diet C) and 600 ml kg-1 (diet D). Food consumption, feed efficiency, protein retention rate, lipid retention, daily growth, and survival rate were used as parameters tested. Research design was complete randomized block design with four treatments and each of the treatment with three replications. Research results showed that supplementation of crude enzyme from rumen fluid have significant effect on feed efficiency, protein retention and lipid retention of nile tilapia (p<0.01). The effect of crude enzyme supplementation was not significant on survival rate, specific growth and feed consumption, but supplementation of 200 ml kg-1 crude enzyme showed the best effect on the growth performance of nile tilapia. AbstrakPenelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh suplementasi crude enzim cairan rumen pada pakan berbasis protein nabati terhadap kinerja pertumbuhan ikan nila (Oreochromis niloticus). Ikan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah juwana ikan nila yang berukuran 6,10±0,49 g. Ikan dipelihara dalam akuarium berukuran 35x40x50 cm3 de-ngan kepadatan delapan ekor per akuarium, yang dilengkapi dengan sistem resirkulasi selama 54 hari. Ikan diberi pakan sampai kenyang dengan frekuensi tiga kali sehari. Empat macam pakan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini memiliki kadar protein dan energi yang sama yakni 28% dan 4.050 kkal GE kg-1 dan berbeda pada jumlah penambahan crude enzim cairan rumen domba (crude enzyme) yakni 0 ml kg-1 (pakan A), 200 ml kg-1 (pakan B), 400 ml kg-1 (pakan C) dan 600 ml kg-1 (pakan D). Konsumsi pakan, efisiensi pakan, laju retensi protein, retensi lemak, pertumbuhan harian, dan kelangsungan hidup digunakan sebagai paramer yang diuji. Rancangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak lengkap dengan empat perlakuan dan setiap perlakuan diulang tiga kali. Hasil penelitian ini memper-lihatkan bahwa penambahan crude enzim cairan domba memberi pengaruh yang nyata terhadap efisiensi pakan, retensi protein dan retensi lemak ikan nila (p<0,01). Adapun nilai kelangsungan hidup, laju pertumbuhan spesifik dan konsumsi pakan terlihat tidak berbeda akibat adanya penambahan crude enzim tersebut. Penambahan enzim sebanyak 200 ml kg-1 memberikan hasil yang terbaik terhadap kinerja pertumbuhan ikan nila.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the nutritional content of fermented tarum leaf meal and its nutrient digestibility on hoven’s carp juvenile. This study consisted of two steps namely fermentation and determination of nutrient digesti-bility of tarum leaf meal. Sheep’s rumen fluids used as fermentator of tarum leaf, fermentation was performed for 24 hours with several levels at 0, 200, 400 and 600 mL kg-1, then dried and analyzed for proximate. Digestibility trial was carried out for fermented and non-fermented tarum leaf meal. Digestibility trial was conducted by adding Cr2O3 as the indicator and faecal collection through siphoning. Hoven’s carp (2,31± 0,02 g) were cultured for 30 days using 60 cm x 50 cm x 40 cm aquarium with a density of 25 fishes aquarium-1. Fish were fed three times daily ad satiation. Feces were collected one hour after feeding, dried and analyzed. Fermentation test showed that the nutrient content of fer-mented tarum leaf meal using 600 mL kg-1 dose was better and significantly than other doses in crude fiber and nitrogen free extract were 9,32±0,53and 49,23±1,11. The decrease of crude fiber were 36%. Digestibility test showed that the raw material digestibility, protein digestibility, fat digestibility and energy digestibility in use tarum meal was better and significantly different than non-fermented tarum leaf meal. The results showed that fermented tarum leaf meal at 600 mL kg-1 increase quality of nutrients and digestibility of hoven’s carp seed. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kandungan nutrisi dari fermentasi tepung daun tarum dan kecernaannya terhadap benih ikan jelawat. Penelitian terdiri atas dua tahap yaitu fermentasi dan uji kecernaan bahan dari tepung daun tarum. Fermentasi tepung daun tarum menggunakan cairan rumen domba sebagai fermentator. Fermentasi dilakukan selama 24 jam dengan dosis 0 (kontrol), 200, 400, dan 600 mL kg-1, kemudian dikeringkan dan dianalisis proksimat. Uji kecernaan menggunakan tepung daun tarum yang difermentasi dan tanpa fermentasi. Uji kecernaan bahan dilakukan dengan menambahkan Cr2O3 pada pakan sebagai indikator dengan metode penyifonan feses. Ikan jelawat (2,31± 0,02 g) dipelihara dalam wadah akuarium ukuran 60 cm x 50 cm x 40 cm dengan kepadatan 25 ekor akuarium-1 selama 30 hari. Ikan diberi pakan tiga kali sehari secara satiasi. Feses diambil satu jam setelah pemberian pakan, dikeringkan dan dianalisis kimia. Uji fermentasi menunjukkan bahwa kandungan nutrien tepung daun tarum yang difermentasi menggu-nakan dosis 600 mL kg-1 lebih baik dan berbeda nyata dibandingkan dosis lainnya pada kandungan serat kasar dan ba-han ekstrak tanpa nitrogen yaitu 9,32±0,53dan 49,23±1,11. Penurunan serat kasar terjadi sebanyak 36%. Uji kecernaan menunjukkan bahwa kecernaan bahan, kecernaan protein, kecernaan lemak, dan kecernaan energi pada penggunaan tepung daun tarum yang difermentasi lebih baik dan berbeda nyata dibandingkan dengan tepung daun tarum tanpa fer-mentasi. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa fermentasi tepung daun tarum dengan dosis 600 mL kg-1 meningkatkan kualitas nutrisi bahan dan kecernaan terhadap benih ikan jelawat.

Abstract

Giant gouramy Osphronemus goramy as a leading fresh water fish commodity has a low growth. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the glutamine supplementation with different doses in diet to diet digestibility and growth performance of giant gouramy juvenile. The study consisted of two stages which were diet digestibility test and growth test. Glutamine doses i.e. 0, 1, 2, and 3% were mixed into isoprotein and isoenergy test diet. Chromium oxide (Cr2O3) 0.6% was used as an indicator of digestibility. Giant gouramy juvenile as sampel test with initial body weight 2.07±0.00 g were reared in 50x40x35 cm3 aquaria with density of 25 fish per aquaria. Fishes were given diet three times daily at 07:00 am, 12:00 am and 17:00 pm by at satiation. Diet digestibility test was conducted by collecting feces method which collected after the seventh day of feeding test . Growth test was conducted for 60 days and during maintenance with water change as much as 30% of the volume in the morning before feeding. The result showed that the supplementation of 3% glutamine increased the total digestibility (73.66±0.18%), energy digestibility (64.79±0.22%), protein digestibility (90.57±0.01%), enzyme activity of protease (6.13±0.02 U g-1 protein) and lipase (0.86±0.01 U g-1 protein), and liver glycogen contain (6.86±0.17mg g-1 sampel). In the other hand, the supplementation of 2% glutamine increased feed efficiency (88.75±2.54%), daily growth rate (4.25±0.07%) and protein retention (47.19±0.77%). In conclusion, the supplementation of 2-3% glutamine in diet clearly increased the diet digestibility and growth performance of giant gouramy juvenile. Abstrak Ikan gurami Osphronemus goramy sebagai komoditas unggulan ikan air tawar mempunyai pertumbuhan yang lambat. Oleh sebab itu, penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan mengevaluasi penambahan glutamin dengan dosis berbeda dalam pakan terhadap kecernaan pakan dan kinerja pertumbuhan benih ikan gurami. Penelitian ini terdiri atas dua tahap yaitu uji kecernaan pakan dan uji pertumbuhan. Glutamin dengan dosis 0, 1, 2 dan 3% dicampurkan ke dalam pakan uji isoprotein dan isoenergi. Chromium oxide (Cr2O3) ditambahkan dalam pakan uji sebanyak 0,6% sebagai indikator kecernaan. Ikan uji yang digunakan adalah benih ikan gurami dengan bobot awal 2,07±0,00 g, dipelihara dalam akuarium berukuran 50x40x35 cm3 dengan padat tebar 25 ekor per akuarium. Ikan diberi pakan uji dengan frekuensi tiga kali dalam sehari yaitu pada pukul 07.00, 12.00, dan 17.00 WIB secara at satiation. Uji kecernaan pakan dilakukan selama 20 hari menggunakan metode pengumpulan feses yang dilakukan pada hari ketujuh setelah ikan diberi pakan uji. Uji pertumbuhan dilakukan selama 60 hari dan selama pemeliharaan dilakukan pergantian air sebanyak 30% dari volume media pemeliharaan pada pagi hari sebelum pemberian pakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan glutamin 3% meningkatkan kecernaan total (73,66±0,18%), kecernaan energi (64,79±0,22%), kecernaan protein (90,57±0,01%), aktivitas enzim protease (6,13±0,02 U g-1 protein) dan lipase (0,86±0,01 U g-1 protein) serta kadar glikogen hati (6,86±0,17mg g-1 sampel). Penambahan glutamin 2% meningkatkan efisiensi pakan (88,75±2,54%), laju pertumbuhan harian (4,25±0,07%) dan retensi protein (47,19±0,77%). Disimpulkan bahwa penambahan glutamin dosis 2-3% dalam pakan dapat meningkatkan kecernaan pakan dan kinerja pertumbuhan benih ikan gurami.
