Abstract

Introduction: Tuberculosis remains public health problem worldwide. Pulmonary tuberculosis  is an infectious disease that is transmitted from smear-positive pulmonary tuberculoasis patients. Tuberculosis infection has a high risk of being transmitted when there is contact with TB patients. This phenomenon explains that the risk factors for pulmonary tuberculosis transmission are closely related to contact status with tuberculosis patients. Methods: Literature review was carried out by searching articles through electronic databases (Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and SpringerLink) using the keywords tuberculosis contact status, risk factors for tuberculosis events, and contact status AND incident of pulmonary tuberculosis. The inclusion criteria for the articles used were articles published in accredited national and international publication articles, the year of publication of the article in the 2017-2023 range, full text, open access, and no restrictions related to research design in the article. Nine articles were selected for analysis. Articles are analyzed using matrix tables and Prism schemes. Results: Based on a literature review, it was found that there was an effect of contact status on the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis. Contact status with tuberculosis -infected patients affects the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis transmission. Contact with tuberculosis patients can occur in the household, hospital environment, and school. Conclusion: Based on the literature study, it is explained that the status of contact with tuberculosis patients significantly affects and has a high risk of developing pulmonary tuberculosis. Keywords: Contact status, Literature review, Pulmonary tuberculosis

Abstract

Insufficient knowledge and information about mental health hinders the optimal use of adolescent mental health services. This qualitative case study aims to describe the utilization of adolescent mental health services (MHS) from the perspective of healthcare providers in primary health care (PHC). The primary informants were psychologists and youth care health services (YCHS) coordinators, while the triangulated informants comprised adolescents; they were selected using the purposive sampling technique. This research employs primary data collected through focus group discussions with the primary informants and in-depth interviews with the triangulated informants. The study results reported that there is no PHC providing MHS specifically designed for adolescents. Further, as low mental health literacy and stigma from parents were identified as challenges, peer support was detected to be the reinforcing factors for adolescents to access MHS. Hence, mental health literacy must be integrated into the school curriculum so that adolescent self-diagnosis does not occur.

Abstract

The WHO declared the COVID-19 pandemic on March 11, 2020, impacting infectious disease surveillance in low-resource, low-income countries, low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Governments are focusing on COVID-19 reduction, including healthcare workers and epidemiological teams. A comprehensive literature review was conducted to assess this impact. After examining over 19,000 studies, only six were found to provide relevant data. Our analysis revealed that the pandemic substantially affected dengue incidence. The total number of articles obtained was 19,382. Out of the 136 articles screened based on their abstracts, only six were selected for data extraction. The databases utilized in this article were Pubmed and NCBI. Based on the chosen papers, we discovered that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a notable impact on the occurrence of dengue compared to the period before the pandemic emerged. The occurrence of dengue varied in several nations, such as Peru, Brazil, Sri Lanka, India, and Malaysia. This variation can be attributed to factors such as reliance on traditional approaches, for example community health volunteers in epidemiological investigations. Additionally, misdiagnoses by healthcare professionals due to the similarity of symptoms with COVID-19 have been reported during the pandemic. While the prevalence of dengue fever cases has generally declined in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), one country has experienced an increased case. This trend is possibly linked to heightened pandemic surveillance and changes in mosquito populations. To improve monitoring and surveillance, a digital approach is proposed.

Abstract

This study aims to design and test the goodness of fit of a theoretical model that describes the effect of family support, need for achievement, and entrepreneurial orientation on entrepreneurial intentions with empirical data in the field. Research participation used subjects totaling 66 people from Ngalang village who were female, did not have permanent jobs, and were included in the poor category. Data collection uses four measurement scales: the entrepreneurial intention scale, family support scale, need for achievement scale, and entrepreneurial orientation scale, and is analyzed using partial least square (PLS) via smartPLS 3.0. The results of the study show the formation of a theoretical model of the influence of family support, need for achievement, and entrepreneurial orientation on entrepreneurial intentions that fit with empirical data. Family support has a positive and very significant effect on entrepreneurial intentions, the need for achievement does not affect an entrepreneurial orientation, and entrepreneurial orientation has a positive and very significant impact on entrepreneurial intentions. This research implies that this model can be used as a reference and applied to overcoming economic problems in vulnerable groups.

Abstract

Water and air are important elements for life. The presence of pathogenic bacteria in the surrounding environment can cause health problems resulting from the low quality of water and air. The purpose of this study is to measure the quality of groundwater and air based on microbiological parameters in urban village housing. This research was conducted in a descriptive survey, and a purposive sampling technique was carried out. Groundwater and air samples were taken from six residents' houses located in the Janturan area. The water quality test used the most probable number (MPN) method and the air quality test used the agar filter method using a microbiological air sampler (MAS) to trap microbes. The results of the MPN test for total coliform bacteria from six samples of groundwater showed that three samples were positive for coliform bacteria which exceeded the threshold according to Indonesian standard<50 MPN/100 ml. Assay of E. coli bacteria showed that all samples of groundwater positively contained E. coli bacteria which exceeded the threshold of 0 MPN/100 ml. The results of indoor air quality measurements from 6 residents' houses showed that five houses have air quality did not meet the standard for indoor air germ numbers based on Indonesian standard, less than 700 CFU/m3 (colony forming units per metres cubic) and 1 house that got the number of airborne germs, in the normal range, namely 356 CFU/m3. It was concluded that the water quality and air quality in the urban village did not meet health requirements.
