Abstract

The purpose of this research is to design assessment instrument to evaluate science generic skill (SGS) achievement and chemistry literacy in ethnoscience-integrated chemistry learning. The steps of tool designing refers to Plomp models including 1) Investigation Phase (Prelimenary Investigation); 2) Designing Phase (Design);  3) Construction/Realization Phase (Realization/Construction) ; 4) Test, Evaluation and Revision Phase. (Test, Evaluation and Revision).  To test the validity of assessment instrument, it was used content validity by three experts as validators, while to test the practical, it was used questionnaire which were given to 22 college students of food ingredients chemistry that is integrated of ethno-science and two supporting lecturers. The result of content validity showed that assessment tool which was developed was valid stated by experts with the reliability coefficient was 0,72. Every lecturers and 21 students gave positive response, so it can be concluded that developed assessment instrument was practice to use.

Abstract

The 21st century education engages students to have higher order thinking and scientific literacy skills. However, these abilities in Indonsia are still relatively low, especially student’s scientific literacy skills. One solution to the problem of low scientific literacy skills in Indonesia is the application of STEM education. However, as technology advances pursued in STEM education, religious and cultural sciences increasingly separate themselves from science. Cultural science is rarely implemented in learning so that many students do not know their own culture. The contra between science and religion also makes students’s perception of religion and science are two independent knowledge and cannot be united. Through literature studies that have been carried out from various journal article search sites, this article discusses how important religious and cultural sciences are to be implemented into STEM education. The relationship between religion and science, culture and science, culture and religion and the urgency of religion and culture in STEM education are also discussed in this article. The results of this study propose solutions so that science education can be implemented with RE-STEM learning to overcome the gap between religion, culture and science. So, that students will have a more balanced knowledge in religion, ethnoscience and science from RE-STEM integration.

Abstract

The challenges of education in the era of the industrial revolution include disruption 4.0, 21st-century skills, globalization, and global competition. Chemistry is a subject that needs to be developed in order to improve the educational system in the era of disruption. The purpose of this research is to identify and analyze the needs of the media-based chemistry study ICT at grade X redox materials in State Senior Highschool 8 Semarang during the disruption. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method which consists of the study of literature and the study of the field. Method of data collection is done through observation, question form, documentation, interview teachers, as well as interview students. This research instrument consisting of a sheet of observation, question form, and sheet interview. The results showed that chemical-based learning media limited ICT in State Senior Highschool 8 Semarang redox materials especially in class X. That is because of the teacher's difficulty in innovating to develop learning media chemistry-based ICT and lack of student understanding and literacy in the study of chemical materials. Teachers play an important role in order to educate the students towards the era of disruption. In this era of chemical subjects not only taught students with literacy (reading, writing, math) but the need for a new form of literacy the literacy data, technology, and human resources in order to overcome learning difficulties and improving students learning outcomes for better value.

Abstract

The use of coal asenergy sources at boiller engine of tire industry can causes fly accumulation. The objective of the research is to study feasibility of fly ash waste from tire industry for concrete brick production, by involve the fly ash/cement, water/(fly ash + cement+ sand) ratio and lime addition. The fly ash characterization carried out by gravimetri methode analysis. The test materials of brick were made by mixed fly ash, cement, sand, lime and water in given weight ratio. The mixture was stirred untuil was found the workable paste. The casting of test material carried out the cubic 7 x 7 x 7 cm in size. The compressive strength was test carried out after 28 days curing. The result show that the major enstituent of fly ash is fol• lowed : Si02 63,01 %, Al203 9,27 %, Fe203 6,31 %, CaO 5, 19 % and Mg 0,05 %. The com• pressive strength of brick to decrease by increasement of the used fly ash. At the ratio of fly ash/cement 20 : 80 and 30 : 70, 600 g sand, the compressive strength of brick is 118, l 5 and 108,08 kg/cm2 respectively. The ratio ofwater/(fly ash+ cement+ sand) influence the compressive strength on concrete brick. The compressive strength reach the maximum value at given point and than to gradually decrease. At the composition of fly/cement= 30: 70 and 20: 80 the compressive strength is maximum at the ratio of water/(fly ash+ cement+ sand) 0, 10 and between 0, 10 - 0, 15 are respestively. The addition of lime at mixture of fly ash, cement and sand is trend to decrease the compressive strength. Addition, in concrete brick production, the addition of fly ash it is preferable if not more than 25 - 30 % of the used cement and mechanically compression.

Abstract

AbstractPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar kontribusi aplikasi virtual laboratory pada pembelajaran guided-inquiry terhadap hasil belajar dan Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis (KBK) siswa. Desain penelitian menggunakan pre-test post-test control group design. Penelitian dilakukan di SMA Negeri 1 Kedungwuni. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI MIPA tahun ajaran 2018/2019, dengan sampel penelitian yaitu XI MIPA 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI MIPA 3 sebagai kelas kontrol. kelas eksperimen dilakukan pembelajaran guided-inquiry berbantuan virtual laboratory disertai demonstrasi, kelas kontrol dilakukan pembelajaran dengan guided-inquiry dengan metode demonstrasi. Kedua kelas melakukan eksperimen riil setelah pemberian perlakuan. Metode pengumpulan data melalui tes bentuk two-tier, dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata hasil belajar dan KBK kelas eksperimen lebih baik dari kelas kontrol dan diperoleh bahwa virtual laboratory pada pembelajaran guided-inquiry berkontribusi terhadap hasil belajar sebesar 14,57% dan kontribusi terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis sebesar 20,54%.Kata kunci: Hasil Belajar, Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis, Pembelajaran Guided-Inquiry, Virtual Laboratory

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kontribusi media virtual laboratory dalam model pembelajaran Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) terhadap hasil belajar dan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada materi titrasi asam-basa. Penelitian menggunakan desain quasi experimental dengan pretest-posttest control group design yang dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 12 Semarang. Objek penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas XI IPA 3 sebagai kelas kontrol dan XI IPA 5 sebagai kelas eksperimen. Pada kelas eksperimen dilakukan pembelajaran dengan model POE dan pemanfaatan virtual laboratory disertai demonstrasi sedangkan pada kelas kontrol dilakukan pembelajaran dengan model POE disertai demonstrasi. Kedua kelas kemudian melakukan praktikum riil di laboratorium Kimia. Pengamatan dan analisis dilakukan pada hasil belajar yang terdiri dari 3 aspek yaitu aspek kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotorik, dan Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis (KBK) dari kedua kelas tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan rata-rata hasil belajar dan keterampilan berpikir kritis antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol pada pembelajaran POE berbantuan virtual laboratory. Kontribusi virtual laboratory terhadap hasil belajar sebesar 16,99%, sedangkan kontribusi virtual laboratory terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis sebesar 12,66%.

Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir kritis merupakan salah satu kompetensi yang dibutuhkan dalam menghadapi tantangan abad ke 21. Beberapa peneliti menyampaikan bahwa salah satu model pembelajajaran yang dapat mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis adalah Problem Based Learning (PBL). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan berpikir kritis dan respon peserta didik setelah diterapkannya model PBL berbantuan LKPD bermuatan etnosains pada materi reaksi redoks. Penelitian ini adalah  studi kasus dengan desain single holistic. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada peserta didik kelas X-MIPA 1 SMAN 10 Semarang yang berjumlah 36 orang yang dipilih secaara purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik tes, observasi dan angket yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik adalah sebesar 62,6 dan termasuk dalam kategori cukup. Indikator berinteraksi dengan rang lain dapat berkembang dengan baik, namun indikator menentukan induksi masih dalam kategori rendah. Peserta didik juga  memberikan respon positif terhadap penerapan model PBL berbantuan LKPD bermuatan etnosains.

Abstract

The research objective was to analyze the feasibility and practicality of Vocational School teaching materials based on STEM integrated ethnoscience. Research and Development of Borg and Gall (2003) with Methods Embedded Experimental were used in this research. The results showed that the STEM integrated ethnoscience-based Vocational School science teaching materials were feasible to be used in research trials based on the assessment of 4 experts judgment which were 2 expert lecturers (material and media), and 2 education practitioners. The teaching material components included Syllabus; Lesson plan; Student Worksheet; HOTs assessment; Material Expert; and Media expert. All components showed very good criteria. Furthermore, the practicality of teaching materials was in a good category based on student responses. Teaching materials were effective in increasing the HOTs of vocational school students based on the Gain score of 0.44 in the moderate category. Teaching materials can improve students' high-order thinking habits through contextual and complex learning resources in ethnoscience studies through STEM literacy.

Abstract

STUDENTS’ CREATIVITY AND KNOWLEDGE ON ACID-BASE TOPIC THROUGH THE APPLICATION OF PROJECT-BASED LEARNING WITH TERI PUTER CREATIVE PRODUCTS AbstractCreativity is one of the most needed competencies in the 21st century. This study aims to analyze students' creativity and knowledge on acid-base material through the application of Project Based Learning with Teri Puter Creative Products. The study was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Bae Kudus with 35 research subjects in class XI MIPA 6 in the 2018/2019 school year. Data collection techniques using test and non-test instruments that have been declared valid and reliable. The results showed as many as 74% of students were in creative criteria and were very creative with the highest percentage in the originality indicator and the lowest percentage in the fluency indicator, while for the ability of knowledge by 40% who had good criteria and very good. The highest achievement is on the indicator to calculate the pH of acid-base solution and the lowest achievement on the indicator to calculate the concentration of [H+] and [OH-] in the solution. Positive responses are given by students with project based learning that has been applied. AbstrakKreativitas merupakan salah satu kompetensi yang amat dibutuhkan  pada abad ke-21. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kreativitas dan pengetahuan siswa pada materi asam-basa melalui penerapan Project Based Learning dengan Produk Kreatif Teri Puter. Penelitian dilaksanakan  di SMA Negeri 1 Bae Kudus dengan subjek penelitian sebanyak 35 siswa kelas XI MIPA 6 pada tahun ajaran 2018/2019. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen tes dan non tes yang telah dinyatakan valid dan reliabel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebanyak 74% siswa berada pada kriteria kreatif dan sangat kreatif dengan persentase tertinggi pada indikator originality dan persentase terendah pada indikator fluency, sedangkan untuk kemampuan pengetahuan sebesar 40 % yang berkriteria baik dn sangat baik. Pencapaian tertinggi yaitu pada indicator menghitung pH larutan asam-basa dan  pencapaian terendah pada indicator menghitung konsentrasi [H+] dan [OH-] dalam larutan. Tanggapan positif diberikan oleh siswa dengan project based learning yang telah diterapkan.

Abstract

APPLICATION OF THE RASCH MODEL ON THE TEST INSTRUMENT TO ANALYZE THE PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY OF STUDENTS IN ACID-BASE SOLUTIONS MATERIALSAbstractIn 21st century education, students are required to have high problem-solving skills. This study aims to reveal the quality of the test instrument with the Rasch model. Descriptive quantitative research is used with total of 38 students of class XI SMAN 2 Semarang became the subjects in this study. The data obtained in this study is from a combination of student response patterns on the product development diagnostic test instrument. The data analysis used was IRT Rasch. Rasch model analysis for summary statistics, item-fit, wright-map, item-measure, person-measure, person-fit dan item-DIF. The value of person reliability is 0.78(sufficient), and item reliability value is 0.8(good). Cronbach's alpha value is 0.82 (very good). Based on the analysis Rasch model, it was found that there were two students (12P and 37P) whose response patterns were not ideal. The results showed problem-solving ability profile of students in the very high category of 26%, high of 29%, average of 16%, low of 13%, and very low of 16%. The results of this study indicate that the test instrument can be used for further research in measuring student problem solving and the Rasch model contributes to teachers and schools in identifying students' abilities in more detail. AbstrakPada pendidikan abad-21, siswa dituntut harus memiliki keterampilan problem-solving yang tinggi. Penilaian keterampilan problem-solving dapat dilakukan secara online yang terintegrasi pada soal tes pengetahuan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap kualitas instrumen tes dengan model Rasch. Penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Total 38 siswa kelas XI SMAN 2 Semarang menjadi subjek dalam penelitian ini. Data yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini adalah dari kombinasi pola respon jawaban siswa pada instrumen tes diagnostik produk pengembangan. Analisis data yang digunakan menggunakan Item Response Theory (IRT) model Rasch. Analisis model Rasch untuk summary statistics, item-fit, wright-map, item-measure, person-measure, person-fit dan item-DIF. Nilai person reliability didapatkan sebesar 0,78, kriteria cukup, dan nilai item reliability sebesar 0,85, kriteria bagus. Nilai alpha Cronbach sebesar 0,82, kriteria bagus sekali. Berdasarkan hasil analisis Rasch model ditemukan ada dua siswa yang pola responnya tidak ideal yaitu siswa 12P dan 37P. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan profil kemampuan problem-solving siswa dengan kategori sangat tinggi sebesar 26%, tinggi sebesar 29%, rata-rata sebesar 16%, rendah sebesar 13%, dan sangat rendah sebesar 16%. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa instrumen tes dapat digunakan untuk penelitian lanjutan dalam mengukur pemecahan masalah siswa dan model Rasch memberikan kontribusi kepada guru dan sekolah dalam mengidentifikasi kemampuan siswa lebih rinci
