This study deals with developing the writing paragraph through quickwriting for junior high school at smp swasta pahlawan nasional. The objectives of this study were to find out to improve the students’ ability in writing paragraph of grade VIII students by using quickwriting strategy. Data data of the research was taken from the secondary grade of Junior High School Students at SMP Swasta Pahlawan Nasional Medan, which is taken from one class, contain 33 student. The data in this research collected by using interview and questionnaire. The interview and questionnaire will be given to collect the students’ need, problem and interesting in learning English, particularly in writing and using quick writing in teaching and learning. In the teaching-learning process the teacher should prepare before conducting the lesson. The first is classroom procedures in teaching-learning process. Classroom procedures used by English teacher are opening, quickwriting, main activities (exploration-elaboration-confirmation), closing. There are some problems faced in the teaching-learning process. The problems faced are problem in developing idea, organizing idea, difficulties in vocabulary, tenses, and grammar, different capability of the students, and limited time. The consequently, the teacher should give solutions to cope the problems faced in teaching-learning process. So, the teacher should be creative to minimize the problem faced in teaching-learning process in order to make the students enjoy with the materials and develop student’s ability. The aim of this study is to develop Word Walls as media for teaching writing descriptive text at the seventh grade students of MTs S Nurul Hakim Tembung. The researcher used Research and Development (R & D) method through six steps: gathering data and information, need analysis, media design, validating to experts, revising, and final product. The subjects of this research were 26 students from VII A at MTs S Nurul Hakim Tembung. The instrument of collecting data was using questionnaires and interviewing the teacher. The data were analyzed by descriptive text technique. The product was assessed from two experts. The average scores of the product assessment were 90 from English teacher, and 92 from English lecturer. The total average scores from two experts were 91 which was in very good quality. It means that the developed product/Word Walls is eligible to be used for teaching writing descriptive text for the seventh grades students at MTs S Nurul Hakim Tembung. The objective of the study was to reveal introvert learners' target needs and learningneeds in English speaking activities. This study was conducted at SMP-IT HikmatulFadhillah, which the sample was twenty introvert learners at grade IX that had beenselected by doing a personality test, which using Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ). The research method was qualitative descriptive. The data was collected bydistributing the questionnaire and interviewing ten representative introvert learnersand English-speaking teacher. The item questions were adapted from English forSpecific Purposes – A learning Centred Approach by Hutchinson & Waters (1987)and Curriculum Development in Language Teaching by Jack Richards (2001).Theresults revealed that introvert learners need to learn English because they wanted toget a good career in the future, and introvert learners wanted to be able to speakEnglish with their friends at school every day, and so that it can be used as their dailycommunication. As long as they study in their class, the most common problems theyfaced were pronunciation, grammar, and difficulty participating in discussions.Therefore, introvert learners were very interested in learning more aboutpronunciation. Introvert learners need a quiet atmosphere, and they like to study aloneor in pairs. Introvert learners learned easier by listening to something, such aslistening to English songs or podcasts, even in class they were easier to understand bylistening to the teacher's explanation. With these conditions, introverted learners needteachers who can make them more active in class but still comfortable for them.

TRANSLATION USED IN TEACHING WRITING PROCEDURE TEXT AT SMA YPK MEDAN Nurul Fatma; Sumarsih Sumarsih

This study aimed at describing translation used and reason in teaching writing procedure text at SMA YPK Medan. This study was qualitatively conducted that taken 3 English teachers of SMA YPK Medan. The data were collected by using an interview and observing the whole process of teaching writing procedure text. The findings of this study showed that there were 59 times of using translation found during three processes that they were conveying and checking the meaning of words or sentences, explaining the grammar and classroom management. It was also found that translation used in the scientific approach activity that experimenting, associating and communicating activity in teaching. The reason of using translation in teaching writing procedure text were facilitating communication, teacher-student relationship and the L2 learning. The findings of this study revealed that translation contributed to the study of foreign language teaching especially teaching writing skills.

Ananda, Rizky. Registration Number: 2183321053. The Use of “Power Pose” in English Class Interaction in Grade IX MTsN 2 Medan. A Thesis. English Educational Program, Faculty Languages and Arts, Universitas Negeri Medan 2022. This study focuses on the level of student anxiety, student anxiety factors, and the use of power poses in class IX-10 MTs Negeri 2 Medan. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative descriptive research design to investigate the level and factors of students' anxiety and the use of power poses in the classroom. Cuddy (2010) states that a human's actions are influenced by the body pose he uses and that is why Cuddy coined his statement as a Power Pose. Power Pose is divided into 2, namely: high power pose and low power pose. The study took a sample of 30 students who were in class IX-10 MTsN 2 Medan. This study was conducted at the same time to see whether there is a relationship between power pose and anxiety level in students at MTsN 2 Medan. Data collection techniques used a questionnaire, observation, and documentation with pictures of the class situation 2 minutes before the teacher came and started the lesson as well as notes about the body poses of students and students who answered the teacher's initiation. The findings state that the average student is in the "anxious" level with a score of 109 with anxiety factors: 1) lack of confidence, 2) fear of making mistakes, 3) not understanding what the teacher says, 4) panic if ordered by the teacher to respond suddenly (without preparation), and 5) insecure about the ability of friends who are considered better. This is what makes this class less responsive to the teacher. And in this finding it was found that only 8 students used power poses (27%) while the remaining 22 students (73%) used low power poses.Keywords: Students’ Anxiety, Level Anxiety, Factor Anxiety, Classroom Interaction, Power Pose

The objective of this study as to develop an appropriate English listening songs material based on Scientific Approach for grade tenth. This study was carried out at SMAS Imelda Medan. This research was conducted by using Research and Development (R&D) method. The research of Research and Development which contained six stages; gathering information and data, analysing data, designing materials, validating new materials by expert, revising materials based on expert suggestion, and final product. The data was gathered through the distribution of questionnaire for students and interviewed an English Teacher and students to get the student’s need. The study’s conclusion resulted in the development of the English listening songs material E-Book, which may be used as a learning material for students to learn English listening songs. The product has been validated by two experts in percentage terms, the average score of expert validation was 91.4% in linguistic aspect, the process aspect was 94.2%, the content aspect was 93%, and the layout was 92%. The average score was 93% which was categorized as very good and it was suggested to use in English class especially for English listening songs at Senior High School level.

Teachers in the 21st century should assist all students in learning how to learn. Teachers are expected to inspire creativity, encourage cooperation, and educate the students how to communicate. The teachers are expected to create independent learning situation through utilizing digital media like google sites as one of free google products. As students of majoring in tourism are expected to promote tourism places globally by having English proficiency. In this digital era, writing can be an alternative to communicate everything via digital platform. Therefore, the study aimed to develop website on tourism through google sites in improving students’ writing skill. The study was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Medan. ADDIE (Analysis, Design, development, implementation and evaluation) model was used in conducting the study. XI grade students of tourism major were involved in this study. Depth interview and distributing questionnaire were administered to gain data of the study. the data analysis was conducted to determine the validity and effectiveness of product. The findings of study showed that 90% of students really needed writing skill and wanted to develop their skill in digital platform like a website. Then, 10% of students hadn’t decided whether it was needed for the future after graduation or not. However, those students needed to learn and have the skill. After doing validating, website on tourism through google sites had been valid (93%) to be applied. It was also effective to improve students’ writing skill after analyzing the result of English test and response of teacher and students.

In the age of accessible news, where it can be obtained anywhere and anytime, news can be shared through social media, and it merely showed the headline as the way to intrigue the readers. The writing of headline structures expressed what is the center of information, who is the participant, and what action is done. This issue unintentionally can also shape the readers’ perception, the order of participants and action in the sentence influence the various aspect into the meaning. This study examined how rhetoric is written in the headlines of market issues based on critical discourse analysis. It applied the theory proposed by Van Dijk (2013) namely formal structures of discourse. 300 data were obtained from November 2022 to February 2023 based on the syntactic structures. The findings showed that there are three ways that media used in arrangement of words and phrases to create the headline news. They are active, passive, and nominalizations. Active become the most types used in the headline, followed by passive and nominalizations. This analysis inferred that the perspective of CNBC Indonesia is neutral but sometimes they also supported the government's economic policies. It is because they did not show their inclination towards one party.

This study aims to determine the effect of consumer reviews and product prices on competitiveness in online businesses (Case Study of Shopee Application Users in Campalagian District, Polewali Mandar Regency). This type of research is quantitative correlation and data collection techniques by distributing online and offline questionnaires. The sample used in this study was 66 respondents obtained by incidental sampling method. Data analysis methods, namely validity test, reliability test, normality test, heteroscedasticity test, multicollinearity test, multiple regression analysis test, t test (partial, F test (simultaneous), and multiple determination coefficient test using SPSS 20. The test results show that consumer reviews do not have a positive influence on the competitiveness of Shopee's online business in Campalagian District, on the contrary product prices have a positive and significant influence on business competitiveness on Shopee's online business in Campalagian District and consumer reviews and product prices together have a positive influence. on the competitiveness of Shopee's online business in Campalagian District.The product price variable greatly affects the competitiveness of Shopee's online business in Campalagian District.

Implementasi kebijakan pemerintah yang baru untuk menggunakan sistem berbasis digital menyisakan permasalahan baru. Rata-rata satuan pendidikan belum mampu menjadikan rapot pendidikan sebagai dasar dalam merancang program sekolah di tahun berikutnya. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk (1). Memberikan pemahaman terhadap analisis rapot pendidikan versi 2.0 kepada seluruh stakeholder sekolah khususnya di SMPN 21 Seluma ; (2) Memberikan pemahaman terhadap proses perencanaan berbasis data bedasarkan rapot pendidikan kepada seluruh stakeholder sekolah khususnya di SMPN 21 Seluma; (3) Memberikan pemahaman terhadap rancangan program sekolah jangka pendek dan jangka panjang berdasarkan perencanaan berbasis data kepada seluruh stakeholder sekolah khususnya di SMPN 21 Seluma. Pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan selama 3 hari dengan cara daring. Guru dan kepala sekolah dituntut untuk mampu. Merancang program sekolah sesuai dengan analisis rapot pendidikan. Hasil evaluasi kegiatan pengabdian menunjukan 81% peserta setuju bahwa kegiatan ini menarik dan merupakan sesuai kebutuhan sekolah
