Abstract

Abstract: The low level of students' mathematical representation ability became the background of this study. The research aimed to analyse the effect of implementing the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by interactive PowerPoint media and Microsoft Excel on students' mathematical representation ability. The research method used was a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 40 eighth-grade students divided into an experimental group and a control group. The research instrument was a mathematical representation ability test that had been validated and proven reliable. Data were analysed using a t-test and N-Gain calculation. The results showed that the N-Gain score in the experimental class reached 0.82 (high category), while in the control class it was only 0.22 (low category). The difference was statistically significant (t = 20.316; p < 0.000). Thus, it can be concluded that integrating PowerPoint and Excel into the PBL model is effective in improving students' mathematical representation ability, particularly in presenting data in the form of graphs and tables. This research implies that a PBL model supported by digital media can serve as an innovative alternative for mathematics learning. Keywords: Problem Based Learning (PBL); Microsoft Excel; Mathematical Representation; Data Centralization; Quasi-Experiment

Abstract

Medical Check-Up (MCU) is one of the methods of early detection of metabolic and cardiovascular disorders. Computational analysis of MCU results data can be used to group individuals based on their risk profiles, thereby supporting more targeted promotive and preventive strategies. This study aims to identify the segmentation of individual groups based on the clinical parameters of MCU results using the K-Means clustering method, as well as evaluate the potential of each cluster as a target for health interventions, especially in the context of positioning preventive products or services. This study used secondary data on MCU results which included 13 variables: age, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), total cholesterol, fasting blood sugar, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, urea, creatinine, uric acid, and gender from 294 sample data. The data was analyzed using the K-Means algorithm to group individuals based on the similarity of their health profiles. Cluster validation is carried out through clinical interpretation and the characteristics of each cluster center. From the results of the analysis, five clusters with different characteristics were produced. One of the prominent clusters is Cluster 2, consisting of middle-aged men (average 44 years old) with high levels of total cholesterol, LDL, and triglycerides, but blood pressure and blood sugar are still within normal limits. This condition indicates a moderate metabolic risk that is still reversible. This cluster is seen as strategic to be used as a target for the development of preventive health-based digital products and services. MCU outcome-based segmentation through the K-Means clustering method is effective in identifying specific health risk groups. Cluster 2 has great potential as the main target of preventive intervention programs because of its medical profile that can still be improved and psychographic characteristics that support acceptance of digital and promotional approaches

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) model based on animated videos in improving digital literacy skills of elementary school students. The research used a quasi-experimental method with a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design involving 28 grade V students of SDN Sari Kalampa, divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group learned through the TaRL model with animated video integration, while the control group used conventional learning. Data were collected through pretest, posttest, observation, interview, and documentation, and analyzed using SPSS, JAMOVI, Rasch MINISTEP, SMARTPLS 4, and NVIVO. The results showed significant improvement in the experimental group, with an average posttest score of 84.29 and N-Gain of 0.69 (high category), compared to the control group with 65.36 and N-Gain 0.34 (medium). All five indicators of digital literacy increased, with the highest improvement in evaluating digital information (N-Gain = 0.74). These findings indicate that the animated video-based TaRL model is effective in improving students' critical thinking, ethical awareness, content creation, and collaboration. Thus, the model can be recommended as an innovative pedagogical strategy to support 21 st-century learning in primary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of differentiated instruction within the Merdeka Curriculum in mathematics learning at junior high schools in Bima Regency, Indonesia. A qualitative approach was employed, using in-depth interviews with teachers and school principals as the primary data collection technique. The findings reveal that teachers' understanding of differentiated instruction remains varied, with the majority focusing on content differentiation, while process differentiation is still limited, and product differentiation is barely implemented. The main challenges identified include limited instructional time, inadequate facilities, administrative burdens, and insufficient training. Nevertheless, even simple applications of differentiation were found to increase student participation, reduce achievement gaps, and foster learning motivation. These results highlight the positive prospects of differentiated instruction as a strategic approach to improving the quality of mathematics education, provided that teacher capacity is strengthened and supported by school policies as well as contextualized regional education policies. This study contributes to the discourse on inclusive teaching practices and offers recommendations for policy development tailored to local educational needs. Keywords: Differentiated Instruction; Merdeka Curriculum; Mathematics; Inclusive Educatio

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the thickness of the bending pavement layer on the Sebatik Ring Road, Indonesia-Malaysia border, using the 2017 Pavement Design Manual method. The road has a strategic role as the main connecting infrastructure in border areas facing geographical challenges, such as diverse soil types, as well as tropical climates with high rainfall and significant air humidity. This condition affects the durability and performance of the pavement, so optimal design is needed to ensure the durability of the road against traffic loads as well as local environmental conditions. This study uses primary data in the form of a test of the mechanical properties of the basic soil and secondary data in the form of traffic volume and environmental conditions. The analysis was carried out based on a mechanistic-empirical approach in accordance with the 2017 Pavement Design Manual, including the determination of the thickness of the surface layer, upper foundation, and lower foundation. The results of the study are expected to provide recommendations for pavement designs that are able to withstand traffic burdens and climate challenges in Sebatik. In addition, this research provides practical benefits for infrastructure development in border areas and supports better connectivity. These findings can also be used as a reference in road infrastructure planning in areas with similar geographical and climatic conditions, both in Indonesia and other tropical regions.
