Abstract

The incidence of breast cancer is increasing every year. One of the effective efforts to prevent breast cancer early is through SADARI (Breast Self-Examination). This study aims to determine the effect of health education about awareness on the behavior of early detection of breast cancer in young women at MAN Model Banda Aceh. The research design used is Quasi-Experimental with cluster sampling technique. The samples taken in this study were 16 year old girls at MAN Model Banda Aceh. The research was conducted from 12 October 2021 to 22 April 2022. The Wilcoxon statistical test results on knowledge both before and after receiving health education with a p value = 0.001 (p <0.05), while for abilities both before and after being given health education it was found that the p value = 0.004 because the p value <0.05 so it can be concluded that there is an influence of health education about breast self-examination (BSE) on the knowledge and behavior of female students in efforts to detect early breast cancer in the MAN Model Banda Aceh.

Abstract

Background: physical conditions can affect patients in forming their self-concept, patients who have a good self-concept will respect themselves, accept themselves, and do not underestimate themselves and recognize their limitations. Conversely, patients who have a poor self-concept will generally avoid their environment, tend to be alone and dissatisfied with themselves. Objectives: to determine the relationship between self-concept and coping mechanisms in postoperative glaucoma patients at the Eye Clinic at Meuraxa Hospital, Banda Aceh. Methods: this type of quantitative research with the correlation method and using the Cross Sectional Study approach. Sampling using non-probability sampling with purposive sampling technique. The number of samples was 39 patients who underwent glaucoma surgery. Results: the results of bivariate analysis showed the value of ρ = 0.002 and α = 0.05, which means that the value of p < α Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. This means that there is a relationship between self-concept and coping mechanisms in postoperative glaucoma patients at the Eye Clinic at Meuraxa Hospital. Conclusion: that the better the patient's self-concept, the coping used is adaptive.

Abstract

Surgery can cause very severe pain in patients due to surgical incisions. To treat pain in fracture patients, effective pain management is needed. The pain management provided must be able to meet the patient's needs, one of which is the need for comfort. namely pharmacology and non-pharmacology. This study aims to identify the relationship between pain intensity and pain management strategies in post lower extremity fracture patients. This research is quantitative analytic in nature with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a total sample of 43 postoperative lower extremity fracture respondents. The instrument in this study used a pain scale for pain intensity, while the pain management strategy used the American pain society patient outcome questionnaire revised, with interview collection techniques. The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between pain intensity and pain management strategies in postoperative lower extremity fracture patients. 15 people (60.0%) experienced severe pain with good pain management strategies, 10 people (40.0%) had severe pain with sufficient pain management strategies, while 17 people had moderate pain with good pain management strategies (94.4%), and moderate pain with sufficient pain management strategies in 1 person (5.6%). This is based on the results of the calculation of the chi-square statistical test obtained Pvalue = 0.014 <α = 0.05. There is a relationship between pain intensity felt by patients with pain management strategies in postoperative lower extremity fracture patients at Meuraxa Hospital Banda Aceh.

Abstract

One of the problems in fulfilling nutrition is the knowledge or belief that consuming excess protein will result in a longer wound-healing process. Meanwhile, nutritional status is essential in fulfilling nutrients for wound healing and length of stay in postoperative fracture clients. The study aims to determine the relationship between the fulfilment of nutritional needs in participants after lower extremity fracture surgery at Meuraxa Hospital, Banda Aceh City. This research design method is correlation analysis with a cross-sectional approach with a non-probability sample technique with a sample of 83 post-surgical bone fracture patients. The calculation method uses the formula for a 10% error rate from the total population of post-fracture inpatients 123 respondents. The research location is Meuraxa Hospital, Banda Aceh, and it was conducted in March 2021. Results, there is a relationship between knowledge about nutritional fulfilment (p= 0,005), eating habits (p= 0,002), and perceptions of dietary restrictions (p= 0,002) with the length of treatment days in patients after bone fracture surgery at Meuraxa Hospital Banda Aceh. In conclusion, nutrition support affects the length of treatment days, where knowledge, habits and abstinence can shorten treatment days.

Abstract

Health disparities are a global challenge that requires a comprehensive approach in addressing them. This study aims to analyze the role of nurses in addressing health disparities with a focus on ethical considerations and public health implications. The methodology used is a qualitative approach with a systematic literature study, analyzing scientific publications from 2019-2024 through the PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, and Web of Science databases. Thematic analysis was conducted using the PRISMA framework to identify key themes. The results of the study revealed three main findings: (1) the transformative role of nurses as agents of change in the health system, (2) the complexity of ethical challenges in nursing practice, and (3) significant implications for public health. Analysis through Leininger's transcultural nursing theory and Parsons' structural functional theory shows the importance of integrating cultural understanding with a systemic approach in addressing health disparities. This study provides an important contribution to understanding the role of nurses and developing strategies to address health disparities in the future.

Abstract

Stunting is a significant public health challenge affecting children's physical and cognitive development, with long-term consequences for human resource quality. This study aims to examine the influence of using a Whatsapp Group community on weight gain among stunted children in Lambaro Neujid Village, Peukan Bada District, Aceh Besar Regency. An analytical survey with a cross-sectional approach was conducted, involving 40 families selected through random sampling. The findings reveal that factors such as parental education, family income, maternal height, and mothers' attitudes significantly impact children's weight gain. The use of communication technology, particularly Telegram groups, proved effective in delivering education and motivating behavioral changes among mothers in childcare and nutritional fulfillment. The integration of digital media in public health intervention programs offers an innovative solution to reduce stunting rates. This study recommends optimizing the role of community health workers and sustaining government support in leveraging technology for public education. In conclusion, technology-based approaches can increase awareness and community practices in reducing stunting prevalence, supporting the national target of lowering stunting rates to 14% by 2024.
