Abstract

This research aims to discuss the important role of teachers as educators and role models in educational institutions, especially in character education at SDIT Al-Izzah Banten. Based on the theoretical framework proposed by Moeslim Abdurrahman, this study emphasizes the importance of role models in character education by underlining the essence of religious teachings that must be applied in everyday life. This study uses a qualitative method with a triangulation technique that combines data from field observations, interviews with teachers and principals, and related literature. This research explores the character education paradigm at SDIT Al-Izzah, emphasizing the importance of acculturating character in the school culture through exemplary behaviour, discipline, habituation, wise advice, and rewards for good behaviour. The research highlights the comprehensive involvement of the school community, including the principal, teachers, administrative staff, caretakers, parents and the local community in creating an environment conducive to character development. Notably, the research revealed the extension of disciplinary practices beyond the classroom, encompassing daily routines such as absences for congregational prayers and communal meals, which contribute to the overall moral formation of students.

Abstract

The study aimed to analyze the concept of morality in the book Adabul 'Alim wal Muta'allim and its implementation in fostering the morals of the students of the Roudlotut Tholibin Metro Islamic Boarding School. This study uses a qualitative research method with a narrative study approach. Primary data sources consist of library sources, namely the book Adabul 'Alim wal Muta'allim written by K.H. Hasyim Asy'ari and research informants, namely kiai and santri. Collecting data using observation techniques, interviews, and documentation studies. Data analysis uses data reduction flow, data presentation, and drawing conclusions The results of the study revealed that the implementation of the book Adabul 'Alim Wal Muta'aliim in fostering the morals of students is realized by: (1) enactment of rules and regulations that require students to participate in all non-formal activities in the form of reciting books at madrasah diniyah and formal education at schools ; (2) the independence of the santri in managing all daily activities starting from waking up, performing ablutions, praying in congregation, eating, bathing, washing clothes, maintaining cleanliness; (3) the habit of speaking politely to teachers and elders; (4) helping the kiai carry out the work and meet the daily needs of the santri.

Abstract

Learning hadith in schools is often theoretical and only focuses on memorizing texts, making it difficult for students to understand the values of hadith. This study aims to analyze the application of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teaching through contextual learning or Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) on hadith material in class, and how classroom learning can be applied in everyday life. The research method used is a qualitative method with a library research approach. Data collection techniques are carried out by collecting, reviewing, and analyzing various sources of literature that are relevant to the research topic. The data that has been collected will be analyzed using content analysis techniques with the steps of selecting data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that contextual learning is effective in improving students' understanding of hadith and encouraging students to apply the teachings of hadith in social interactions in and outside the classroom. Through this approach, students are able to understand the text of hadith theoretically and practically. This paper develops a conceptual framework from previous studies on the implementation of a contextual approach in Islamic education. And offers a recommendation for educators to optimize the effectiveness of the learning process. Thus, this study contributes to improving the quality of Islamic education in terms of affective, social, and cognitive.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas pengembangan kurikulum Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) yang bersifat integratif sebagai strategi untuk menumbuhkan kecerdasan emosional dan spiritual peserta didik. Pendekatan integratif dipandang mampu memadukan nilai-nilai keislaman dengan tuntutan perkembangan zaman, sehingga pembelajaran PAI tidak hanya berorientasi pada aspek kognitif, tetapi juga memperkuat karakter, kesadaran moral, dan keseimbangan spiritual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi konsep kurikulum PAI integratif, menganalisis relevansinya terhadap pembentukan kecerdasan emosional dan spiritual, serta menelaah implementasinya dalam konteks pendidikan modern. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah deskriptif kualitatif dengan jenis studi pustaka (library research), yaitu dengan menelaah berbagai literatur seperti buku, jurnal ilmiah, dan hasil penelitian terdahulu yang relevan dengan tema. Analisis data dilakukan secara analisis isi (content analysis) untuk menggali gagasan dan prinsip-prinsip integrasi nilai Islam dalam pengembangan kurikulum. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kurikulum PAI integratif berperan penting dalam menginternalisasi nilai-nilai keislaman melalui pendekatan afektif dan spiritual. Dengan menggabungkan nilai-nilai keagamaan, sosial, dan emosional, kurikulum PAI dapat menjadi sarana yang efektif untuk menumbuhkan keseimbangan antara kecerdasan intelektual, emosional, dan spiritual peserta didik. Selain itu, hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi konseptual bagi pengembangan kurikulum PAI yang relevan dengan kebutuhan pendidikan di era modern.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the Islamic Education curriculum and learning in schools and madrasahs through a library research approach. The review explores academic literature, books, and journal articles discussing paradigms, implementation, and the relevance of Islamic Education curricula within the context of modern education. The findings reveal that Indonesia’s Islamic Education curriculum continues to adapt to digital-era demands, yet faces challenges in integrating Islamic values with contemporary pedagogical approaches. The paper emphasizes the importance of reconstructing curricula based on spiritual values, digital literacy, and student character formation. Thus, this study contributes to enriching the discourse on developing adaptive, contextual, and character-oriented Islamic Education curricula.

Abstract

Pada era modern yang ditandai dengan meningkatnya individualisme dan melemahnya kepekaan sosial, Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) menghadapi tantangan besar dalam menumbuhkan empati dan kepedulian terhadap sesama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji integrasi nilai-nilai sosial dan kemanusiaan dalam kurikulum PAI sebagai upaya membangun karakter empatik di kalangan peserta didik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif melalui kajian literatur, analisis dokumen kurikulum, serta wawancara dengan guru PAI di tiga sekolah menengah. Data dianalisis secara tematik untuk melihat sejauh mana nilai sosial dan kemanusiaan diinternalisasikan dalam proses pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun kurikulum PAI memiliki landasan moral dan sosial yang kuat, implementasinya masih dominan pada aspek kognitif dan ritual, sehingga belum sepenuhnya menyentuh ranah afektif peserta didik. Guru yang menerapkan kegiatan berbasis aksi sosial—seperti layanan masyarakat, kepedulian lingkungan, dan program dukungan teman sebaya—mengalami peningkatan nyata pada sikap empati, kerja sama, serta tanggung jawab sosial siswa. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa integrasi dimensi sosial dan kemanusiaan dalam PAI tidak hanya memperkuat pendidikan moral, tetapi juga menyiapkan peserta didik menjadi pribadi yang berbelas kasih dan berorientasi pada kemaslahatan sosial di tengah arus individualistik. Diperlukan pelatihan guru, model pembelajaran kontekstual, dan kemitraan sekolah dengan masyarakat untuk mewujudkan transformasi pendidikan berbasis empati secara berkelanjutan.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the challenges faced by madrasah ibtidaiyah in maintaining the quality of education amid limited resources and the demands of the Society 5.0 era, which requires adaptation to technology and social change. The gap between the ideal of educational quality and the actual conditions in the field underscores the need for practical, adaptive quality management strategies. Therefore, this study aims to analyse quality management strategies to address the resilience crisis in madrasah ibtidaiyahs, enabling them to maintain and improve their quality amid limitations. This study uses a qualitative case study approach conducted at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 5 Bandar Lampung and Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Terpadu Muhammadiyah Bandar Lampung. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analysed using the Miles and Huberman model through the stages of reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that quality management strategies in both madrasahs are implemented through the visionary leadership of the madrasah principal, a culture of participatory deliberation, teacher competency development, creativity enhancement, and active student involvement in the learning process. Factors supporting this strategy include the spirit of teacher innovation, student participation, and collective awareness of the importance of quality education. The implications of this study emphasise the importance of strengthening teachers’ digital literacy, fostering a culture of collaboration, and securing external support from the government and community to enhance madrasah resilience in the era of Society 5.0.

Abstract

teachers in implementing the independent learning curriculum. The aim of the research is to explore the contribution of Islamic Religious Education teachers in implementing the Independent Learning Curriculum at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Tanjungkarang, Bandar Lampung. The field study method was used with observation, interviews and documentation techniques. The research subjects consisted of the principal and two Islamic Religious Education teachers. The results show that teachers have an important role in shaping student character, promoting tolerance, and integrating Islamic values. Despite facing challenges such as limited resources and resistance to change, with the right support, they can play a significant role in realizing the vision of the Independent Learning Curriculum. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of their role in education oriented to Islamic values. Recommendations include a good understanding of curriculum principles and innovative learning approaches, as well as appropriate training for teachers and adequate support from school principals.

Abstract

Increasingly complex global environmental crises and disasters demand a strategic role for education in building awareness, attitudes, and sustainable actions. Islamic education has strong normative and pedagogical potential to respond to these challenges thru the internalization of ecological ethical values derived from Islamic teachings. This research aims to analyze how Islamic education based on ecological ethics is implemented in response to the global environmental crisis and disasters, as well as to identify pedagogical models, impacts on students, and obstacles in its implementation. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design and case studies across several Islamic educational institutions, including pesantren, Islamic schools, and madrasahs. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and analysis of curriculum documents, and was analyzed thematically. The research findings indicate that educational institutions that explicitly integrate Islamic values such as khalifah, amanah, mizan, and the prohibition of fasad thru practice-based programs such as organic farming, waste management, and reforestation are more effective in shaping students' environmental awareness and behavior. The contextual learning and Project-Based Learning approach combined with fiqh al-bi'ah has been proven to improve students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. However, this study also found constraints in the form of a lack of a systematic curriculum, uneven teacher capacity, limited resources, and the absence of consistent evaluation instruments. This research recommends strengthening the curriculum, training educators, and developing an Islamic ecological ethics-based evaluation model to make Islamic education a transformational force in addressing the global environmental crisis.

Abstract

This study addresses the gap between cognitive-oriented Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning and the internalization of religious character and tolerance attitudes among students. In many classrooms, IRE learning still emphasizes conceptual understanding rather than lived experience, resulting in limited religious practice and social tolerance in daily interactions. This research aims to describe the implementation of the Experiential Learning strategy in IRE learning and analyze its role in strengthening students’ religious character and fostering tolerance attitudes. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach conducted at a public junior high school in Bandar Lampung. Research participants consisted of IRE teachers and eighth-grade students. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that Experiential Learning was implemented through stages of concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation. This strategy effectively enhanced students’ religious character, including worship awareness, honesty, responsibility, and social care. Furthermore, it contributed to the development of tolerance attitudes, particularly internal religious tolerance, as reflected in respectful interactions, appreciation of differing opinions, and improved emotional control. The study concludes that Experiential Learning is an effective instructional strategy for Islamic Religious Education oriented toward character building and social attitude development.
