Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of the integration of the example non example model assisted by audiovisual media to increase motivation and learning outcomes of IPAS at SDN 2 Keputran. The problem stems from the low student participation (35%) and completeness of IPAS learning outcomes (40%) due to the dominance of the teacher-centered approach. Using the methodology of Classroom Action Research Kemmis and McTaggart's model, the research involved 24 fourth-grade students with data collection through participatory observation, cognitive tests, motivation questionnaires, and documentation. The results showed a significant increase in learning motivation from a score of 61.67 (preaction) to 82.92 (cycle II), as well as an increase in the completeness of learning outcomes from 33.3% to 100% with an average score from 61.67 to 82.89. The integration of the example non example model with audiovisual media succeeded in creating an active and meaningful learning environment, activating high-level cognitive processes through dynamic visualization and comparative activities. In conclusion, this pedagogical approach effectively deconstructs the teacher-centered paradigm into student-centered learning, significantly contributing to transforming students' learning experience in the context of 21st-century education.

Abstract

Symbiont bacteria associated with Polycarpa aurata are known to produce secondary metabolites with diverse bioactive properties, including antibacterial, anticancer, antifungal, and antiprotozoal activities. This study evaluated the antibacterial and antibiofilm activities of symbiotic bacterial isolates obtained from the white morphotype of P. aurata collected from Barrang Lompo Island, Makassar City, Indonesia. The agar diffusion method and ELISA reader assay were employed for antibacterial and antibiofilm analyses, respectively. Four pure isolates were obtained and designated AQ2-1, AL2-3, AL2-4, and AL2-5. Molecular identification based on 16S rRNA gene sequencing indicated that isolate AQ2-1 corresponded to Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain AB18. This isolate exhibited a pronounced inhibition zone against Bacillus subtilis, with an optimal incubation period of 68 h for secondary metabolite production. Chemical analysis of the bioactive compounds from isolate AQ2-1 identified adenine riboside and bis(2-ethylhexyl) benzene-1,2-dicarboxylate as the major constituents. Adenine riboside exhibited the highest antibacterial activity, producing an inhibition zone of 12.2 mm against Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, while bis(2-ethylhexyl) benzene-1,2-dicarboxylate produced an inhibition zone of 10.8 mm against Staphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 14990. In the antibiofilm assay, adenine riboside achieved the highest inhibition at 77.09% against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, whereas bis(2-ethylhexyl) benzene-1,2-dicarboxylate inhibited Streptococcus mutans ATCC 25175 by 73.61%. These findings demonstrate that secondary metabolites produced by the AQ2-1 isolate of symbiont bacteria from P. aurata possess strong antibacterial and antibiofilm activities and may serve as promising candidates for future antimicrobial development.

Abstract

The search for meaning in life among late adolescents is a crucial factor in their identity development, especially in the midst of social and emotional challenges. Although many studies have been conducted on the meaning of life, the limitations of existing instruments are unable to reflect the complexity of the meaning of life experience in late adolescents, so modifications are needed to address this need. This study aims to modify the meaning of life scale to better fit the context and experiences of adolescents. Using a quantitative approach, 116 active students aged 18-21 years from various universities in three provinces participated in this study. The instrument used was a modified meaning of life scale based on Michael F. Steger's theory, including two dimensions, namely the existence of meaning and the search for meaning. The results of the analysis showed that the modified scale not only had high validity and reliability, but also effectively captured the complexity of adolescents' life experiences. The findings provide important insights in understanding the dynamics of adolescents' meaning in life and open up opportunities for the development of intervention programs that are more relevant and based on their needs.

Abstract

Conventional Intrusion Detection Systems often suffer from performance degradation due to their inability to handle the complexity of high-dimensional data and class imbalance in modern network traffic. This study aims to optimize the Network Intrusion Detection System (IDS) by addressing the limitations of the Random Forest algorithm in handling high-dimensional data and its lack of model transparency (black-box). The proposed method is a Hybrid model integrating an Autoencoder as a non-linear feature extractor and Random Forest as a classifier. The Autoencoder is trained using a semi-supervised strategy to generate latent features and Reconstruction Error (MSE), which serves as a robust anomaly indicator. Additionally, the Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique (SMOTE) is applied to address class imbalance in the NSL-KDD dataset. To address the challenge of interpretability, SHAP-based Explainable AI (XAI) is strategically implemented to elucidate the complex interactions between the Autoencoder-compressed latent features and the final classification decisions, thereby transforming this hybrid architecture into a transparent system. Evaluation results demonstrate that the Hybrid Autoencoder-Random Forest model outperforms the Random Forest Baseline, achieving an Accuracy increase of 2.54% (to 77.61%) and a Recall increase of 3.96% (to 62.31%). The significant improvement in the Recall metric empirically validates the effectiveness of hybrid features, specifically the Reconstruction Error, in detecting Zero-Day attacks characterized by unknown patterns. Furthermore, SHAP visualization successfully reveals the contribution of latent features, providing crucial transparency for network security forensic analysis.
