Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of healthy lifestyle practices and health literacy among students at SMK Negeri 2 Tenggarong as a basis for strengthening adolescent health promotion programs. A descriptive quantitative design was employed using a questionnaire consisting of four key indicators: healthy eating habits, physical activity, rest and mental health, as well as hygiene and healthy behavior. A total of 192 students participated as respondents and completed a four-point Likert scale questionnaire. The results indicate that most students demonstrated moderate to high levels of healthy lifestyle practices. In terms of eating habits, the majority reported regular breakfast consumption, adequate intake of fruits and vegetables, and limited consumption of sugary drinks. Students also showed good physical activity levels, with many actively engaging in sports and daily movement. The rest and mental health indicator revealed that most students had sufficient sleep duration and stable emotional conditions, although late-night gadget use remained an issue for some. Hygiene practices were generally high, reflecting strong awareness of personal and environmental cleanliness. Overall, the findings suggest that students' health literacy is relatively good, yet continuous reinforcement through school-based socialization and educational interventions is needed to ensure consistent and sustainable healthy behaviors.

Abstract

This study investigates students' perceptions of Duolingo as an ICT-based tool for supporting reading comprehension in English as a foreign Language (EFL) education. While prior research has extensively investigated mobile-assisted language learning, fewer studies have analytically explored how Duolingo shapes students' cognitive and affective engagement in reading-related activities within the context of Indonesian higher education. This study employed a mixed-methods methodology with 54 first-semester English Education students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur to address this gap. Data were collected through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews and analyzed employing descriptive and thematic techniques. The results indicate that students typically perceive Duolingo as accessible and interesting for reading practice, though its educational efficacy seems constrained by material simplicity and reliance on consistent internet connectivity. The study demonstrates that Duolingo can serve as a supplementary tool rather than a substitute for formal education, highlighting the complex role of gamified mobile platforms in encouraging reading engagement and supporting learner autonomy in EFL contexts

Abstract

Abstract

Kidney failure significantly impairs physiological functions, primarily due to the accumulation of urea in the bloodstream. When renal function drops below 75%, hemodialysis becomes a crucial therapeutic intervention. This study investigates the performance of a hollow fiber dialyzer, consisting of a shell-side dialysate flow, a semi-permeable membrane, and internal capillaries for blood flow. The main objective is to develop a theoretical model describing urea mass transfer through the membrane during hemodialysis. The analysis focuses on the effect of blood flow rate on urea concentration distribution across the tube, membrane, and shell regions in both axial and radial directions. Additionally, the influence of membrane length and dialysate flow rate on urea clearance is examined. Simulation results indicate that higher blood flow rates lead to elevated urea concentrations at the tube outlet, suggesting reduced diffusion into the dialysate compartment. In contrast, increasing membrane length enhances urea clearance. Interestingly, the dialysate flow rate shows minimal impact on clearance efficiency. Under a fixed dialysate flow rate of 500 mL/min and a membrane length of 27 cm, the calculated urea clearance values were 21.95%, 17.06%, 14.31%, and 12.52% for blood flow rates of 200, 300, 400, and 500 mL/min, respectively.

Abstract

Language variation is the variety of language used by society. Talking about language variation, it cannot be separated from the aspect of communication, both verbally and in writing. In this study, researchers will examine the use of language variation from the perspective of speakers on social media Twitter. Types of language variation from the perspective of speakers are divided into four, one of which is sociolect. Sociolect is further divided into eight, namely acrolect, basilect, vulgar, slang, colloquial, jargon, argot, and ken. Acrolect is a type of language variation that has a higher status. Basilect is a type of language variation that is considered to have a lower status or the opposite of acrolect. Vulgar is a type of language variation that contains rude or dirty words. Slang is a type of language variation that is specific and commonly used by teenagers and often changes. Colloquial is a type of spoken language variation that is commonly used daily. Jargon is a type of language variation that is limited in nature and is used only in certain groups or fields but is not closed. Argot is a type of language variation that is used in certain fields and is secretive, the opposite of jargon. Ken is a type of language variation used to request or influence and is full of falsehood. The purpose of this study is to analyze sociolect language variations based on the speaker’s perspective on Twitter social media, including posts, tweets, comments, and others. The research method used was qualitative to produce descriptive data, namely data that is in accordance with the results of the analysis. The data found a total of 20 data. There are 2 data for the type of acrolect, 3 data for the type of basilek, 6 data for vulgarity, 3 data for slang, 1 data for colloquial, 2 data for jargon, 2 data for argot and 1 data for ken. Thus, it can be concluded that there are many variations of language used on Twitter social media, both from teenagers and adults to the elderly, which are very diverse.
