Abstract

Empathic concern is an affective component of empathy that plays a crucial role in the social and emotional development of adolescents. The decline of empathic concern among adolescents has become a global concern, marked by a weakening of emotional caring in younger generations toward others across various social contexts. In Indonesia, the high prevalence of relational problems among adolescents indicates weakening socio-emotional competence, including low levels of empathic concern among students. This study aims to conduct a systematic literature review on the role of psychoeducational interventions in improving empathic concern among early adolescent students. Data were collected through searches of three electronic databases covering publications from 2015 to 2025, yielding 14 articles that met the predetermined inclusion criteria. Data analysis employed a narrative synthesis approach to group and synthesize findings based on psychoeducational intervention characteristics, population, and measured outcomes. The findings indicate that the majority of psychoeducational interventions play a role in enhancing students' empathic concern, with participatory methods such as role-playing, reflective discussion, and social simulation yielding more optimal outcomes compared to conventional approaches. Psychoeducational interventions designed in a participatory, contextual, and sustained manner represent a promising approach to strengthening empathic concern among students in educational settings.

Abstract

Student academic resilience refers to a person's ability to overcome challenges and difficulties in a higher education context, which includes the ability to remain resilient and productive amid academic pressures, challenging tasks, and changing educational environments. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the validity and reliability of the student academic endurance scale through the Rasch analysis approach. The results showed the unidimensionality analysis in raw variance explained by means and unexplained variance in the first contrast. The results of the unidimensionality analysis of the academic resilience scale were obtained: raw variance explained by measures with a value of 36% and unexplained variance in 1st of 8.1%. The score shows that raw variance explained by measures (36%) is greater than 20% and unexplained variance in 1st (8.1%) is below 15%. In the analysis results, 3 items do not match (misfits). The processing of the mean value (1.01) is added to the standard deviation (0.22), which is 1.23. Items that have a logit value greater than 1.23 are item numbers 9, 13, and 14. The acquisition of a larger logit value can be interpreted if items numbers 9, 13, and 14 are too difficult for respondents to answer. Three items on the academic resilience scale indicate if an item does not match. This can be interpreted as an academic resilience scale measuring tool that is appropriate for measuring student academic resilience.

Abstract

This study explores self-injury behavior among students at SMPN 8 Makassar by focusing on: (1) the description of self-injury behavior exhibited by subject H, (2) factors contributing to the behavior, and (3) intervention efforts using a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach. A qualitative method with a clinical case study design was employed. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis. The findings show that prior to counseling, subject H displayed repetitive self-injury as a maladaptive response to unexpressed emotional distress, primarily related to family conflict, feelings of failure, and persistent negative thoughts. Following the counseling intervention, there was a noticeable reduction in the frequency and intensity of self-injury behavior, decreased urges during negative emotional states, and improved ability to express emotions verbally. Contributing factors included internal aspects such as cognitive distortions, irrational beliefs, and negative thinking patterns, as well as external factors like limited emotional support from the family and an unstable home environment. The intervention was conducted through seven CBT counseling sessions emphasizing cognitive restructuring, including identifying automatic thoughts, challenging irrational beliefs, developing adaptive coping thoughts, and establishing a safety plan. Overall, the intervention contributed to more rational thinking, better emotional regulation, and reduced maladaptive coping behaviors.

Abstract

Career information services at SDN 07 Tala still rely on oral explanations and simple posters, resulting in low understanding of sixth grade students regarding various professions, tasks, educational paths, and their relationship to personal interests and talents. This study aims to: (1) Describe the needs of Augmented Reality-based career information service media at SDN 07 Notes; (2) Develop a prototype for developing Augmented Reality-based career information service media at SDN 07 Note; (3) Measure the validity level of Augmented Reality-based career information service media at SDN 07 Note; and (4) Assess the practicality level of Augmented Reality-based career information service media at SDN 07 Tala. The study uses the Borg and Gall Research and Development (R&D) model approach, which was modified from 10 stages to 8 stages, including initial research, design, prototype development, expert validation, revision, small group trials, and the final product. The results of this study are (1) The need for AR media is very urgent (average career understanding score 66-75%); (2) The prototype developed systematically from 6 to 9 professions with a complete menu; (3) Very reasonable validity (99.58%); and (4) Practical practicality (95.05%) based on teacher (97.50%) and student (92.60%) responses. The conclusion confirms that AR-based Lingkar media is effective in increasing elementary school students' career insights in an interactive and fun way, recommended for routine integration in BK services with the addition of audio narration and local professions.

Abstract

Psychological Profile of Students in South Sulawesi: A Study of Self-Forgiveness and Coping Self-Efficacy. This reserch aims to describe the self-forgiveness and coping self-efficacy profiles of adolescents in South Sulawesi as a basis for developing guidance services. The local context of South Sulawesi, with its culture of siri’ na pacce (self-esteem and solidarity), sipakatau (mutual humanization), and sipakainge (mutual reminders), has the potential to influence how adolescents forgive themselves and cope with life's pressures. A descriptive quantitative approach was used with 971 students (aged 12–18), consisting of 306 boys and 665 girls. The instruments used were the Heartland Forgiveness Scale (HFS) and the Coping Self-Efficacy Scale (CSES). The results showed that the majority of students were in the moderate category for self-forgiveness (73.56%) and coping self-efficacy (69.55%). These two abilities were relatively equal between boys and girls. Gender equality in this aspect is important to ensure that the counseling program developed is inclusive and responsive to the emotional needs of all student groups. These findings indicate the need for structured counseling programs to optimize students' self-acceptance, emotional management, and adaptive coping strategies. Keywords:  Self-Forgiveness; Coping Self-Efficacy; Adolescents; Guidance and Counseling

Abstract

Cultural Intelligence Profiles of Guidance and Counseling Teachers. Cultural bias is one of the inhibiting factors in guidance and counselling, so the process of guidance and counselling in schools is often less than optimal. One of these problems is identified by the low cultural intelligence of guidance and counselling teachers. This study aims to investigate the level of cultural intelligence of guidance and counselling teachers in providing services to students at school . The survey method with descriptive statistical analysis was used to obtain an overview of the level of cultural intelligence of guidance and counselling teachers, which was strengthened through the interpretation of the results of interviews with informants. Respondents in this study amounted to 81 people, who came from high school, and vocational junior high school levels in South Sulawesi. The results showed that the level of cultural intelligence of guidance and counseling teachers at the high school level was 19.5%; SMK was 21.88%, and SMP was 53.57%, which does not consider the cultural diversity of students (such as ethnicity, religion, language, socio-economic status, gender, etc.) in providing guidance and counseling services to students. It has implications for the inability of guidance and counseling teachers to develop multicultural-based service programs, at SMA 14.29%; SMK at 15,63%; and SMP at 21.43%. In general, this study illustrates the low cultural intelligence possessed by guidance and counseling teachers, so that a follow-up effort is in the form of development and training modules to enhance teacher guidance and counseling cultural intelligence. Keywords: Profile, Cultural Intelligence, Guidance and Counseling Teacher

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of cognitive restructuring techniques in helping a student recover from the psychological impact of cyber grooming. The intervention focuses on reducing cognitive distortions, restoring emotional stability, and strengthening the student's confidence after experiencing online manipulation. This Research uses a qualitative case study design. The subject is a male student who exhibited fear, shame, and negative assumptions about his reputation after the incident. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using a thematic approach. The results show that the student experienced several cognitive distortions, including self-blame and exaggerated fear of social judgment. Through six counseling sessions using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, the student identified irrational thoughts, challenged them, and replaced them with more realistic and balanced thinking. Improvements were also seen in emotional regulation, social interaction, and motivation to return to normal activities. The study concludes that cognitive restructuring is effective for helping victims of cyber grooming manage distorted thoughts and reduce emotional distress. Future research is encouraged to explore similar interventions with larger samples, compare different counseling approaches, and examine long-term outcomes after treatment.

Abstract

This qualitative clinical case study examines the manifestations, causal factors, and management strategies associated with sadfishing behavior in a student. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods. The study addressed three primary objectives: describing the behavior, identifying its causes, and detailing the intervention process. Results indicated that RR's sadfishing involved repeatedly re-posting sad content online as a maladaptive strategy to alleviate emotional distress and seek validation for unexpressed suffering. The identified causes included internal factors, such as an inner conflict between the desire for relief and difficulty communicating, reinforced by social withdrawal, as well as external factors, including limited social support from family and insufficient awareness among school staff and peers. The main intervention applied was the Cognitive Restructuring technique. Following the intervention, the subject demonstrated a gradual reduction in sadfishing behaviors and irrational thoughts, along with improved communication skills, reflecting positive changes in emotional regulation, behavior, and mindset.
