Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the manual attendance system used at MI Muhammadiyah Romang Lompoa in improving student attendance discipline. Discipline is an important foundation in character building and student academic success, where the attendance system serves as a record and primary control tool. The method used is quantitative descriptive research using a survey approach, involving all students and teachers involved in recording attendance. Data collection was carried out through observation of attendance procedures, documentation of attendance data (lateness, permission, absenteeism) for the past semester, and questionnaires to students and teachers. The results of the study indicate that the manual attendance system has a fairly high (or moderate) effectiveness in reducing the number of unexcused absences (alpa), but its effectiveness is less than optimal in overcoming the problem of lateness. Factors that support effectiveness are teacher consistency in recording and verifying attendance and the presence of direct follow-up from the homeroom teacher. Meanwhile, the main inhibiting factors are human error in recording and the lack of novelty/technology elements that make the process feel less binding for some students. It was concluded that the manual attendance system was effective as a basic recording tool, but required strengthening in the form of a firmer and more consistent reward and punishment mechanism to achieve the maximum level of discipline, especially in terms of punctuality.

Abstract

This study evaluates the trends and effectiveness of web-based learning media in fostering creative thinking in elementary mathematics education through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Data were collected from Scopus and screened using clearly defined inclusion and exclusion criteria based on population, intervention type, study design, and creativity-related outcomes. Of the 36 identified documents, 7 met all criteria and were analyzed. The findings indicate a substantial increase in the use of web-based mathematics media over the last five years, driven by digital transformation and the demand for interactive learning environments. Web-based media were shown to enhance creative thinking through simulations, dynamic visualisations, and contextual problem-solving tasks. However, effectiveness depends on media design, pedagogical strategies, digital infrastructure, and teacher readiness. This review highlights the need for developing creativity-oriented web-based mathematics media that directly support higher-order thinking.

Abstract

Social factors, including the persistence of traditional gender roles in the educational environment, often influence the low active participation of students in mathematics group discussions. Differences in communication and collaboration styles between male and female students usually result in unequal contributions in group-based learning. This study aims to examine the communication patterns and mathematical collaboration of students, based on gender, in the context of small-group work in mathematics learning. A descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design was used on 17 grade XI students at MA Muhammadiyah Bima City, who were selected purposively. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation, which were then analyzed thematically. The results showed that female students were more active in asking questions, giving suggestions, and building structured cooperation. In contrast, male students were more dominant in explaining concepts and making decisions with a pattern of collaboration that tended to be spontaneous. These findings suggest that social norms, gender, and local culture influence the dynamics of communication and cooperation in the study group. This research underscores the pivotal role of teachers in fostering inclusive and gender-equitable learning environments, as well as in developing collaborative learning strategies that are responsive to diverse roles in group interactions.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the application of a differentiated approach in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning in elementary schools. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a multisite study design. The data of this research consist of descriptive information related to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of differentiated instruction in the IPAS subject. The data were obtained from teachers and students who were directly involved in the IPAS learning activities. Data collection techniques in the form of observation, depth interviews, and documentation analysis. The data were analyzed using the interactive analysis model by Miles & Huberman, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The subjects of the study were teachers and students from three elementary schools in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, namely SD Negeri Rappokaleleng, SD Inpres Tamanyeleng, and SD Negeri Tanabangka. The results show that teachers have applied a differentiated approach to three main aspects of learning: content, process, and product. In the planning stage, teachers conducted diagnostic assessments to identify students' learning styles and interests as the basis for developing flexible teaching modules. In implementation, teachers present materials in various forms and provide a choice of activities and products according to students' learning preferences. The assessment is carried out in a formative and summative manner with a varied approach and adjusted to the individual needs of the student. A differentiated approach has been proven to increase students' active participation, motivation, and independence in learning. However, its implementation still faces a number of obstacles, such as limited time, facilities, and students' readiness for independent learning. Therefore, this study recommends the importance of systemic support and teacher capacity building so that the implementation of differentiated approaches can take place in a sustainable and equitable manner in primary schools.
