Abstract

The study of human movement systems is often difficult for students to comprehend because it is abstract and theoretical. Therefore, concrete and interactive learning media are needed to help students better understand this concept. This research aims to develop a hand replica as a teaching aid in Science subject for Phase C, focusing on improving students' understanding of the human movement system, particularly the mechanism of bones and muscles.The method used in this study is a classroom experiment employing a pretest and posttest approach, involving students in the creation of hand replicas using simple and easily accessible materials. Students were encouraged to observe, assemble, and manipulate the hand replicas to simulate the movements of a real human hand. Observations showed that the use of hand replicas in learning significantly improved students' understanding of the human movement system. Additionally, using hand replicas helped students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills through engaging and enjoyable hands-on activities. In conclusion, creating hand replicas as learning media is effective in enhancing students' understanding and collaborative skills in group settings regarding the human movement system in elementary school Science learning. It is hoped that this media can be more widely applied as an innovative method in Science teaching and learning processes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using torso media on improving students' memory and critical thinking skills in elementary school science learning, especially related to the digestive system material here. Torso media was chosen because it provides concrete visualization that helps students understand abstract concepts. This study uses an experimental method using 5th grade elementary school students as its subjects. Data were obtained through retention and critical thinking tests conducted before and after learning with torso media, as well as through observation during the learning process. The results showed that students who learned using torso media experienced a significant increase in memory and critical thinking skills. The use of torso media not only helps students retain information for a longer period of time, but also encourages them to be more active in asking questions, analyzing, and drawing conclusions. Therefore, torso media has proven to be an effective learning tool to improve students' memory and critical thinking skills related to the digestive system in elementary schools.

Abstract

Critical thinking is an individual's ability that involves aspects of analysis and reasoning to solve a problem. In this context, critical thinking is an important skill that needs to be trained from an early age, one of which is understanding the concept of mathematics learning, because learning mathematics requires critical thinking, especially in measurement material. Mathematics learning must emphasize understanding concepts through direct experience. The use of environmental media in learning is a contextual learning resource for students, especially in measurement material using non-standard units. The surrounding environment provides a variety of real objects that help students practice measurement concepts so that they are easy to understand. This simple research aims to describe the mathematics learning process using environmental media using the Project Based Learning model to improve students' critical thinking skills in measuring length, weight or volume using non-standard units such as spans, steps or seeds. This research originates from information or assistance in mathematics learning measurement material from class 2 which was carried out on Wednesday, October 9 2024.

Abstract

The problems raised from this study are How to apply the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning model using the Mini Market Corner media in mathematics learning in grade V of elementary school and How the use of the Mini Market Corner in the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning model can improve the critical thinking skills of mathematical grade V students of elementary school. While the purpose of this study is to describe the application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning model using the Mini Market Corner media in mathematics learning in grade V of elementary school. And to find out the increase in critical thinking skills of mathematical grade V students of elementary school through the use of the Mini Market Corner in the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning model. This study used a descriptive qualitative research type. While the research subjects used in this study were a mathematics teacher and 3 students of grade V MI Al-Mursyidah Mancilan Mojoagung Jombang. Data collection techniques are observation, interviews and documentation. Data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions and verification. The results of this study are This media is able to create an active, fun, and contextual learning atmosphere. Students are directly involved in the learning process through simulations of buying and selling activities that are relevant to everyday life, making it easier to understand mathematical concepts. And students' critical mathematical thinking skills have increased after the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL)-based learning with Pojok Mini Market media. The increase can be seen from students' abilities in interpreting problems, analyzing information, evaluating alternative solutions, and putting forward logical reasons in solving problems. This learning provides space for students to develop high-level thinking skills meaningfully through real and collaborative learning experiences.

Abstract

Mathematics is a vital means needed by students to solve various problems, both personal and social, and it is required to succeed in work. Thus, students are highly expected to possess good mathematical literacy. In the 21st Century, most of parents would rather choose pesantren-based schools for their children since they believe that theirs will have chance to acquire universal and religious sciences, at once, for their life. Further, the current research was aimed to investigate level of algebraic literacy among pesantren-based senior high school students, along with its determinant factors. Qualitative research method was employed by means of descriptive approach. Moreover, there were 30 students involved in the research; all of which were the twelfth graders of Science Class of a pesantren-based senior high school in Madura, Indonesia. To collect data, two instruments were used: algebraic literacy test and guideline to interview with the Math teacher and the Vice Principal of Curriculum Affairs. The results showed that level of algebraic literacy among students was dramatically low, with 94% of whom classified in below Level 1, 3% in Level 2, and 3% in Level 3. Moreover, lack of student’s focus in learning Mathematics was one of possible causes of it as the students were strongly demanded to learn about two major sciences at once. Therefore, any endeavors for betterment from the teacher and institution are needed to make algebraic literacy among students get improved; one of which can be by integrating pesantren and national education curricula.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peran kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan efektivitas pengelolaan sistem pendidikan di sekolah menengah serta menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mendukung dan menghambat pelaksanaannya. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian meliputi kepala sekolah, guru, dan staf administrasi di beberapa sekolah menengah pertama wilayah Kecamatan Tombolo Pao. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepala sekolah memegang peranan sentral dalam menggerakkan seluruh komponen pendidikan melalui fungsi manajerial yang mencakup perencanaan, pengorganisasian, pelaksanaan, dan pengawasan (POAC). Kepala sekolah yang menerapkan gaya kepemimpinan transformasional mampu menciptakan lingkungan kerja yang kondusif, menumbuhkan motivasi guru, serta meningkatkan mutu pembelajaran. Efektivitas pengelolaan sistem pendidikan sangat dipengaruhi oleh kemampuan kepala sekolah dalam memanfaatkan sumber daya, membangun komunikasi partisipatif, dan beradaptasi terhadap perubahan kebijakan serta perkembangan teknologi informasi. Kendala utama yang dihadapi meliputi keterbatasan sumber daya manusia, sarana-prasarana, dan birokrasi kebijakan. Secara keseluruhan, hasil penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa kepala sekolah yang kompeten dan berjiwa kepemimpinan transformasional merupakan kunci keberhasilan peningkatan efektivitas pengelolaan sistem pendidikan yang berorientasi pada mutu dan keberlanjutan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas metode praktikum dalam pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial (IPAS) pada materi fotosintesis di sekolah dasar. Fotosintesis merupakan salah satu materi penting yang harus dipahami siswa kelas IV. Subyek penelitian terdiri dari 73 siswa kelas IV di SD Muhammadiyah 1 Malang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif melalui kajian literatur dan analisis deskriptif untuk menganalisis hasil penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa melalui metode praktikum dapat meningkatkan pemahaman siswa, yang ditunjukkan dengan sebanyak 90% siswa memperoleh nilai diatas 85. Dari nilai tersebut dapat diartikan jika nilai tersebut memenuhi KKTP. Selain itu metode ini juga meningkatkan interaksi dan aktivitas siswa dalam pembelajaran yang memungkinkan siswa memahami fotosintesis secara konkret serta merangsang keterampilan berpikir kritis dan kerja sama antar siswa. Penelitian ini menyarankan metode praktikum menjadi strategi pembelajaran untuk memerkuat pemahaman IPAS di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Mathematics is often considered an abstract science far removed from real life. The ethnomathematics approach aims to link mathematical concepts with local cultural practices. This study aims to explore the mathematical elements in the traditional houses of Hena Puan in Buano Utara Village and examine their potential as a source of mathematics learning. The method used is qualitative with an ethnographic approach. Data was collected through observation, interviews with traditional leaders, and visual documentation of the traditional house structure. The study results show that the Hena Puan traditional house contains mathematical concepts such as plane and solid geometry. Additionally, philosophical values related to the structure of the building, which have been passed down from generation to generation, were found. The implications of these findings suggest that the Hena Puan traditional house can serve as a relevant contextual learning resource, encourage student engagement, and strengthen local cultural identity. The implications of this study can be used as a source of contextual learning that makes mathematics learning more concrete, meaningful, and relevant to students' lives.

Abstract

Effective and efficient elementary school management is the key to improving the quality of elementary education in Indonesia. This study aims to describe the actual conditions of elementary school management, identify appropriate management strategies, and analyze supporting and inhibiting factors in their implementation. The method used is descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation in several selected elementary schools. The results of the study indicate that effective elementary school management is characterized by visionary principal leadership, data-based program planning, and active involvement of all school members. Meanwhile, efficiency is reflected in the optimization of resources, the use of information technology, and collaboration with external parties. The main supporting factors are policy support, management training, and a collaborative work culture. Meanwhile, the obstacles found include limited funds, lack of ongoing training, and resistance to innovation. This study concludes that contextual, participatory, and adaptive management strategies are needed to realize quality and sustainable elementary education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the new student admission system through Google Form at MI Muhammadiyah Romang Lompoa as an effort to digitize the administration of basic education. The background of this research is the need for educational institutions to increase efficiency and transparency in the process of admitting new students by utilizing digital technology. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation of teachers and school administrative staff. The results of the study show that the implementation of Google Forms is able to improve the efficiency of registration time, data processing accuracy, and user satisfaction. However, several obstacles were found, such as limited digital literacy of some parents and internet network disruptions. Overall, the new student admission system based on Google Form is considered effective and feasible to be developed as a digital administration model that supports educational transformation in the madrasah environment.
