Abstract

Background: Transfer pricing practices are widely used by multinational companies as a mechanism for tax management and profit allocation among related entities. Several factors, including tax burden, audit quality, and multinationality, are believed to influence transfer pricing decisions; however, empirical findings remain inconclusive, particularly in the context of multinational firms in Indonesia. Objective: This study aims to examine the effect of tax, audit quality, and multinationality on transfer pricing practices in multinational companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Methods: This study employs a quantitative approach using panel data regression analysis. The sample consists of 19 multinational companies listed on the IDX during the 2018–2022 period, selected through purposive sampling. Secondary data were obtained from published corporate financial statements. Data analysis was conducted using EViews 10 Student Version Lite, and the most appropriate estimation model was determined prior to hypothesis testing. Results: The results indicate that the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) is the best model for this study. Partially, tax and audit quality have a significant effect on transfer pricing practices, while multinationality does not show a significant partial effect. Simultaneously, tax, audit quality, and multinationality jointly have a significant effect on transfer pricing. Conclusion: This study concludes that tax and audit quality are important determinants of transfer pricing practices among multinational companies in Indonesia. Although multinationality does not individually affect transfer pricing, the combined influence of all variables highlights the need for comprehensive monitoring of transfer pricing practices by companies and regulators.

Abstract

Education 4.0 has emerged as a response to the Industrial Revolution 4.0, focusing on integrating technology into learning to support digital transformation and enhancing 21st-century skills, such as critical thinking, creative thinking, communication, and collaboration. While technology provides convenience, it also challenges students to develop these essential skills. An innovative model, such as Problem-Oriented Project-Based Learning (POPBL), is required to improve these skills, as it has been proven effective in enhancing 21st-century skills. The incorporation of artificial intelligence is expected to increase the effectiveness of POPBL. This study aims to evaluate the impact of the POPBL-AI model on students' critical thinking and communication skills. It employs a quasi-experimental design with a non-randomized pre-post-test control group format. Three groups participated in the study: the POPBL-AI, POPBL, and PBL classes. Data were collected through essay tests and questionnaires, both of which have been validated and are reliable. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA), alongside homogeneity and normality tests as prerequisites. The results showed a significant positive effect of the POPBL-AI model on both skills (p = 0.000; p = 0.001). These findings suggest that the POPBL-AI model can be effectively implemented in biology learning to enhance students' 21st-century skills.

Abstract

Vulnerable individuals feel the massive impact of climate change. Climate research emerged decades ago, causing severe damage to Earth. This issue leads the educational setting to tackle the causes, risks, and impacts on human civilization. The growing interest in Climate Change Education (CCE) and the obstacles associated with tackling this issue provide an opportunity to perform a systematic review to better understand the actions that can contribute to global climate change education. A semi-systematic literature review identified 28 international journal articles published between 2017-2024. These publications, retrieved online from the Scopus database, created a foundation for searching for CCE objectives and contextual focuses. This study also reviewed Indonesian curriculum documents to determine the appropriate place for implementing climate change education. Through this study, we found that CCE became the primary focus of discourse around the world with the desired learning objectives. Based on a review of the Indonesian curriculum, the CCE can be integrated into science, biology, physics, chemistry, and geography. Nevertheless, it has become necessary for educational policy makers to create a CCE map that includes the subject, topics, and audience.

Abstract

Low power factor (cos φ) remains a prevalent issue in residential electrical installations, primarily due to inductive appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, and water pumps, which increase reactive power and reduce overall system efficiency. This condition leads to voltage drops, increased current flow, and higher I²R losses, affecting electricity expenditure and long-term equipment reliability. To address this problem, this study proposes an automatic power factor correction system based on reactive power compensation, where capacitors function as local suppliers of reactive power to stabilize voltage and reduce grid loading. The system utilizes an Arduino Nano microcontroller integrated with a PZEM-004T sensor for real-time monitoring of voltage, current, and power factor. Based on the measured parameters, capacitor switching is performed using relay-based control to enable adaptive compensation according to load variations. Experimental testing was conducted under real household operating conditions for a total duration of four months, including pre- and post-intervention measurements. The results showed a substantial improvement in power factor, increasing from 0.79–0.82 to 0.91–0.99 after capacitor bank installation. Current consumption also decreased—for example, from 4.23 A to 3.50 A in Week 1 and from 9.61 A to 8.10 A in Week 5, indicating reduced power losses and improved voltage stability. Furthermore, energy usage declined from 737 kWh to 605 kWh over two months, resulting in an energy saving of 17.9%. In conclusion, the proposed system demonstrates that low-cost automated power factor correction can effectively enhance residential energy efficiency and offer measurable economic benefits for household consumers.
