Abstract

It is crucial for advanced writing learning to have learning modules that allow students to cultivate holistic writing skills through a integrated feedback method. Nonetheless, the current modules do not include a thorough needs assessment, which restricts their applicability and efficiency. An examination of the teaching module, focused on the specific context and learning requirements, provides a thorough framework to facilitate advanced writing learning. This research analyzed the requirements of both lecturers and students concerning a holistic writing module that incorporates integrated feedback, focusing on the target situation (needs and lacks) and learning needs (preferences). The research employs the ADDIE development framework, with a focus on the analysis phase. Data were collected via questionnaires, interviews, and observations, and subsequently analyzed qualitatively using descriptive statistics. The findings revealed that the mean score for the need for the teaching module was 3.29, whereas the mean score for the lack of it was 2.72. This indicates a need for additional development of the teaching module. Learning observation results support this information, with an average score of 2.45, categorized as good. Students require a holistic writing module that incorporates integrated feedback. This research suggests that teaching modules for English Language Teaching (ELT) should be designed through a learner-centered and technology-supported approach to support advanced learning, innovative learning design, and contextual literacy development in higher education. Future research should involve developing and evaluating writing module to verify their efficacy.
An exploration of the correlation between stress and blood glucose levels in athletes: Strategies for maintaining peak performance Haryanto; Saputra, Adhe; Muzaffar, Ahmad

Abstract

Background Problems: Stress can cause a person to experience an accumulated risk of increased cholesterol and negatively impact performance in the field, as indicated by a decrease in blood glucose levels. Research Objectives: This research aims to identify the relationship between stress and blood glucose levels to find solutions for athletes to maintain glucose levels when competing. Methods: The research method was cross-sectional with an observational study approach. Glucose levels were assessed using an Accu-Chek device, while anxiety levels were assessed using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) questionnaire. The research subjects were 130 Provincial Training Camp (PELATPROV) athletes with an average age of 25.01 ± 5.15 years old, a weight of 64.15 ± 7.93 kg, a height of 171.21 ± 5.88 cm, and a BMI of 21.98 ± 3.71 kg/m2. Findings and Results: The results indicated significant differences in stress (0.001 < 0.05) and blood glucose levels (0.001 < 0.05) between the two groups. The pre-PON athlete group dominated the increase in stress and decrease in blood glucose levels compared to the non-Pre-PON group. Thus, this research has provided evidence of a correlation between stress levels and decreased blood glucose levels. Conclusion: Psychological and physiological aspects were proven to have an inevitable correlation. Athletes and coaches must communicate more deeply about the expected treatment during the preparation period, during and after the match, to understand each other’s needs to achieve performance. Therefore, athletes’ performance can be maintained well during competition and training.
THE EFFECT OF HABITUALLY CARRYING MOBILE PHONES IN TROUSER POCKETS ON URINE PROTEIN TEST RESULTS IN GORONTALO CITY Rahmiyati Abdullah; Nasar; Haryanto

Abstract

The widespread use of mobile phones has increased concerns regarding the potential health effects of prolonged exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields, particularly among individuals who habitually carry mobile phones in their trouser pockets. This study aimed to determine the effect of this habit on urine protein examination results in Gorontalo City. A quantitative analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted at the BIOZIGMA Laboratory, Gorontalo City, from 4–6 September 2023. Thirty male students from Universitas Bina Mandiri Gorontalo were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires assessing the duration of carrying mobile phones in trouser pockets and laboratory examination of urine protein using the dipstick method. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, followed by the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and the Mann–Whitney U test with a significance level of 0.05. Most respondents (76.7%) reported carrying their mobile phones for at least two hours daily, while 30.0% showed positive urine protein results. Normality testing indicated that the data were not normally distributed (p < 0.05). The Mann–Whitney U test yielded a p-value of 0.052, indicating no statistically significant effect of carrying mobile phones in trouser pockets on urine protein examination results. These findings suggest that habitual storage of mobile phones in trouser pockets was not associated with proteinuria among healthy young adult males. Nevertheless, further studies involving larger sample sizes, longer exposure periods, and additional renal biomarkers are recommended to better understand the potential long-term effects of radiofrequency electromagnetic field exposure on kidney function.
