Abstract

The insufficient financial literacy of the Indonesian people causes low public involvement in the capital market; thus, this study seeks to build a capital market education model that can be a solution to this problem. The SEM-PLS technique was used to test hypotheses on 155 people from West Java.  The findings of this study show that the financial literacy level of the Indonesian people is still very poor, their knowledge of investment and managing emergency funds is very restricted, and their lifestyle tends to be consumptive. Also, there is still a negative view of capital market perception, which makes people hesitant to join the market. In contrast to earlier research, this study proposes a novel capital market education model based on the findings of variable tests and indicators, with the expectation that it would be used to increase literacy and improve public perceptions of the capital market.

Abstract

This study examines the global research landscape on educational inequality and its contribution to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) through a comprehensive bibliometric analysis. Using data retrieved from the Scopus database, 190 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference proceedings published between 2015 and 2025 were systematically analyzed. The bibliometric procedures included publication trend analysis, citation analysis, co-authorship networks, keyword co-occurrence, and thematic mapping using VOSviewer and Bibliometric software. The results indicate that research on the education gap has shown a stable but intensifying trend, with a significant increase in publications during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, reflecting growing global concern over widening educational disparities. The findings reveal that the education gap is primarily driven by socioeconomic status, digital inequality, family background, regional disparities, and teacher quality. Highly cited studies emphasize that inequalities in learning opportunities emerge from early childhood and are reinforced by unequal access to technology, quality schooling, and supportive learning environments. The analysis also identifies the United States, China, and the United Kingdom as the most influential contributors to this field, with strong international research collaboration patterns. Thematic and conceptual structure analyses demonstrate that educational inequality is closely linked to sustainable development, digital transformation, academic performance, and social inclusion. Importantly, this study highlights the growing relevance of policy-oriented solutions, including student loan systems, digital infrastructure development, and targeted social interventions, as strategic mechanisms to reduce educational inequality and expand access to higher education. Overall, this bibliometric mapping provides a comprehensive overview of the evolution, structure, and key drivers of research on the education gap. The findings offer valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and researchers in designing evidence-based strategies to promote equitable, inclusive, and sustainable education systems in support of SDG 4.

Abstract

Standardized teacher assessments such as the Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) are increasingly used to evaluate pedagogical knowledge, yet their integration into local educational settings remains challenging. Specifically in Indonesia, elementary English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers face unique barriers during TKT preparation due to contextual misalignment. Despite existing studies on teacher training and assessment, limited research addresses the lived experiences of teachers navigating TKT preparation in resource-constrained environments. This study aims to explore the perceptions, challenges, and outcomes encountered by eight Indonesian EFL teachers during a six-session TKT preparation program using a narrative inquiry approach. Findings reveal minimal improvement in test readiness, largely influenced by limited preparation time, insufficient training resources, and incongruity between TKT content and local teaching realities. The novelty lies in its focus on narrative insights from in-service primary school teachers, often underrepresented in assessment literature. Implications suggest that for standardized assessments like the TKT to be effective and equitable, localized training support, contextual adaptation, and sustained mentoring are essential. This study contributes to the discourse on EFL teacher development by exposing the practical dissonance between global certification frameworks and local instructional ecosystems. Highlights: Highlights contextual barriers faced by Indonesian EFL teachers during TKT prep. Reveals misalignment between global tests and local teaching practices. Emphasizes need for localized support in standardized teacher training. Keywords: Narrative Study, Cambridge TKT Preparation, Teacher Training Challenges, EFL Test Readiness, Standardized Teacher Assessment

Abstract

The Lauje language, spoken by communities in Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi, reflects a rich cultural and social identity, yet faces the threat of extinction due to the dominance of Indonesian and the impact of globalization. This study aims to explore the forms, functions, and strategies of directive speech acts in the Lauje language, which remain largely undocumented in linguistic research. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed to achieve this goal. Data was collected through field observation, audio recording of natural conversations, and interviews with native speakers in Moubang Village, a culturally representative Lauje-speaking area. Data collection techniques included eavesdropping, recording, and note-taking, while the analysis involved data reduction, categorization, interpretation, and validation using source and theoretical triangulation. The findings reveal six distinct forms of directive speech acts —commanding, ordering, requesting, asking, suggesting, and advising —each with specific social functions and realized through both direct and indirect strategies. These patterns reflect the speaker's sensitivity to social context, hierarchy, and politeness norms. The study concludes that directive speech acts in Lauje serve not only communicative purposes but also preserve the community's cultural values and relational dynamics. The research contributes to pragmatic studies of regional languages and supports efforts to document and revitalize endangered linguistic heritage in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of a digital library featuring illustrated stories with disaster mitigation content in enhancing reading literacy and environmental care among elementary students. The programme addressed the issue of a lack of individuals possessing adequate reading and writing skills, while concurrently emphasising the significance of imparting environmental education to children from an early age, a particularly salient consideration in regions such as Indonesia, where there is a high incidence of natural disasters. The present study employed a quantitative one-group pretest–posttest design, with 30 fourth-grade students (aged 9–10 years) being selected through purposive sampling. The instruments comprised a reading literacy test and a Likert-scale measure of attitudes towards environmental care. Due to non-normal distribution, data were analysed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results revealed significant improvements in reading literacy and environmental care attitudes, with all students achieving positive ranks. There were no declines recorded, and positive effects were evident in terms of students’ enthusiasm, active participation, and ability to connect stories with real-life disaster experiences. These results show that combining digital illustrated stories with disaster mitigation content is an effective way to support literacy development, character education and environmental awareness.

Abstract

Local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Purwakarta, particularly ceramic craftsmen in Plered District, have strong potential to contribute to regional economic growth and enter broader export markets. However, they still face several major problems, including inconsistent product quality, limited design innovation, weak packaging standards, insufficient branding, limited digital marketing capacity, and low readiness to meet export market requirements. The gap identified in this activity is the limited integration between traditional ceramic production practices and modern market-oriented strategies, especially in quality control, product differentiation, digital promotion, and export preparation. Current developments show that MSME competitiveness is increasingly influenced by product innovation, digital marketing, branding, packaging quality, and export readiness. Therefore, this community service activity applied a participatory mentoring approach through field observation, discussion, consultation, and practical recommendations for ceramic craftsmen in Plered. The proposed solution focused on strengthening product quality, improving design and packaging, developing brand identity, optimizing digital marketing, and preparing MSMEs for export-oriented market access. The results indicate that the mentoring activity increased the awareness of ceramic craftsmen regarding product competitiveness, market standards, and the importance of continuous innovation. In conclusion, ceramic MSMEs in Plered have strong potential to improve their competitiveness in the export market when supported by consistent mentoring, quality standardization, strategic branding, digital promotion, and collaboration between higher education institutions, local industry, and community stakeholders.

Abstract

Background: Digital marketplaces leverage Big Data Analytics (BDA) to understand customer behavior, but the mechanisms by which BDA forms loyalty remain unclear, particularly through personalized perceptions and customer engagement; whereas competition and low switching costs make loyalty difficult to maintain. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of BDA capabilities on customer loyalty and the dual mediating role of perceived personalization (PP) and customer engagement (CE) in the digital marketplace.Design/methodology/approach: A cross-sectional quantitative study on 300 marketplace users in Surabaya (≥17 years; ≥3 transactions/6 months) with purposive sampling. Data were collected via a Likert scale online questionnaire (items adapted from the literature) and analyzed with PLS-SEM (SmartPLS 4.0) and bootstrapping for mediation testsFindings/Result: The results show that the use of big data analytics in digital marketplaces is able to strengthen customer loyalty through two main channels. First, as the platform gets better at processing and utilizing customer data, customers increasingly feel that there are services that suit their personal needs, such as relevant product recommendations, targeted offers, and a shopping experience that feels "understood". Second, the use of big data analytics also encourages customers to be more involved, for example more actively interacting with platform features, providing responses, and building more intense relationships with the marketplace. Furthermore, both customers’ perceived sense of personalization and increased engagement have been shown to contribute to loyalty, which can be seen in the tendency of customers to continue using the same marketplace, make repeat purchases, and recommend them to others. These findings also confirm that big data analytics not only directly affect loyalty, but primarily work by improving the personalized customer experience and encouraging active engagement, both through individual channels and as a series of interconnected processes. Conclusion: Big data analytics capabilities are an important determinant in building loyalty in the digital marketplace, but the benefits are strongest when big data analytics is realized as an experience that feels personalized and triggers active customer engagement. Based on these findings, companies need to integrate analytics investments with relevant personalization designs and ongoing engagement strategies to build long-term loyalty. Originality/value (State of the art): This study proposes an integrated dual/sequential mediation model that combines resource-based theory and customer engagement theory to explain the psychological behavioral pathways of loyalty formation in the Indonesian digital market.
