Abstract

The objective of the research was to determine the types of the language styles used by Taylor Swift in Her iHeartRadio Speech as the Winner of the Innovator Award. This research identifies the most dominant type of language styles used by Taylor Swift in Her iHeartRadio Speech as the Winner of the Innovator Award. This research also aims to determine the theory of social factors according to Janet Holmes (2013) which influences the use of language style. The method used in this thesis is a qualitative method. The research design in this research is content analysis. The data source is video from official Youtube IheartRadio. The dominant type of language style is consultative style. The researcher found that there were 7 of Consultative Style, 5 of Casual Style, 2 of Formal Style, 1 of Intimate Style, and 0 data of Frozen Style. There are some factors that influence the choice of language style, they are participant, setting, topic, and function. Taylor Swift’s speech at the iHeartRadio Awards shows how using different language styles can make communication more effective and this is also useful in education field. The language style that Taylor Swift uses in her speech can be used in the field of education. Using the appropriate language style at the right moment can significantly enhance the effectiveness of communication.

Abstract

The research aims to determine Brahman cross (BX) cattle's heat resistance at the UPT Aia Pacah, Padang, West Sumatra. The research variables were the “Temperature Humidity Index (THI)”, calculated based on changes in environmental temperature and air humidity, and “Heat Resistance” measured according to the Benezra and Rhoad coefficients. The calculation of heat resistance is based on physiological characteristics (body temperature, heart rate, and respiratory rate). Data was collected twice a day, in the morning and afternoon, on 40 BX cattles. The results of the morning and the afternoon research showed that the average THI was respectively 75.5 + 2.03 and 82.68 + 1.06, the average body temperature was 37.79 + 0.27 and 38.28 + 0.29 degrees Celsius, the respiratory rate was 19.04 + 1.87 and 25.68 + 1.33 breaths per minute, the heart rate was 52.80 + 6.09 and 59 + 5.96 beats per minute, heat resistance Based on the Benezra and Rhoad coefficients, they were 2.35 + 0.28 and 96.40 + 1.52. The conclusion is that BX cattles kept at the UPT Aia Pacah, Padang is in moderate stress conditions during the day, while the heat resistance of 2.35 is slightly above the normal value of 2 and the Road coefficient is 96.04.

Abstract

Thermoelectric Generator is a technology used to generate electrical energy by utilizing the Seebeck effect, which occurs due to the temperature difference between the hot and cold sides. This study aims to determine the voltage generated by the thermoelectric generator from the process of burning satay using coconut shell charcoal. In this experiment, 6 pieces of thermoelectric generator type TEG1-241-1. 4-1. 2 were used which were connected in series. The pieces were mounted on aluminum material measuring 165 x 110 x 15 mm, and equipped with a heatsink at the bottom of the satay grill body for cooling. The heatsink used is an extrude model. Testing began when the charcoal had reached a red color. The maximum voltage generated reached 2,25 V in seven minutes, with a temperature difference reaching 5,9 °C. The temperature on the hot side was recorded at 102,2 °C, while on the cold side it was 96,3 °C.

Abstract

The heat generated by split air conditioning (AC-Split) is sufficiently high to be utilized as a heat exchanger. The installation of a heat exchanger device, referred to as an Air Conditioning Water Heater (ACWH), is used to heat water in a tank by utilizing the waste heat from the condenser. In this study, refrigerant R290 will be used as a replacement for R22, with the aim of eliminating the Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP) and Global Warming Potential (GWP) associated with R22. Calculations are carried out to ensure the performance of the split AC by testing each refrigerant, R22 and R290, installed in the heat exchanger system. The test data is calculated and analyzed based on the performance on the vapor compression diagram. The results of the performance calculations of each R290/R22 refrigerant COP: 9.7/6.4, compression work: 28.7/25.72 kJ/kg, cooling effect, and electrical power: 881/976 Watts. The calculation results of R290 have better performance compared to R22, especially in electrical power. R290 is 10% lower than R22, COP is 34% higher, and it is ODP and GWP-free.

Abstract

Abstract

Reflectance spectroscopy is one of the nondestructive methods of mineral identification and is one of the basic principles in the remote sensing analysis using optical sensors. This research aimed at applying reflectance spectroscopy at 350–2,500 nm wavelength range for samples containing rare earth elements (REE) and radioactive minerals. Samples were taken from several locations in South Bangka and Mamuju that had previously been identified as potential location of REE and radioactive-bearing minerals. Reflectance data shows that there are absorption characteristics for REE-bearing minerals; monazite, zircon, and xenotime minerals especially from tailings and tin ore concentrate for the samples from South Bangka. The key wavelengths are specifically in the visible-near infrared range (VNIR; 400–1300 nm). For the samples from Mamuju, which is known as radioactive mineral prospecting areas, spectral characteristics provide information that there are spectral signatures in the shortwave infrared range (1,300–2,500 nm). The results of major mineral interpretations include clay minerals, sulfates, NH4 species, and other minerals containing Al-OH. However, some samples at the VNIR wavelength identified as iron oxide/hydroxide minerals. It is hoped that these results can be useful for REE and radioactive exploration mapping using remote sensing methods.
