Abstract

Background: Since December 2019, a new and infectious type of pneumonia has been detected early in Wuhan, Hubei, and then spread rapidly throughout the world. By March 11th, 2020, WHO finally declared the infectious disease a pandemic. Research on the use of saliva as a method of detecting SARS-Cov-2 has been carried out throughout the world. However, to the best of our knowledge, not many literature reviews have reported on the use of saliva as a sample for the diagnosis of Covid-19. Method: This study aims to report interactively on the use of saliva as a sample for the diagnosis of Covid-19.Result: There are 9 articles that meet research criteria, namely: using a cohort and cross-sectional study design, not a review, case report, letters of editor or protocol, research using saliva as a detection tool, articles published from January to December 2020. Most saliva samples were compared with Nasopharyngeal swab sample for Covid-19 detection. Viral nucleic acids found in saliva obtained from the ducts of the salivary glands may indicate the presence of infection in these glands. Live virus can be detected in saliva through viral culture. Conclusion: Saliva samples show great potential in the detection of Covid-19 and can be recommended as an alternative to simple and non-invasive tests.

Abstract

Early menarche is the first menstruation in women in early adolescence that occurs under the age of 12 years. Nutritional status / BMI (Body Mass Index) can affect the occurrence of early menarche through the rate of growth and sexual maturity, which is an indicator of the occurrence of menarche. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship of nutritional status with the incidence of early menarche in elementary school students. This type of study is analytical observational with cross-sectional study design. The sample of this study amounted to 110 elementary school students with early menarche and 110 elementary school students who experienced normal menarche. Data analysis was done by univariate and bivariate using the Spearman rank correlation test. The results of the analysis show that there is a relationship between nutritional status and early menarche incidence in elementary school students (p = 0.001, rs = -0.321). If children have more nutritional status, they will have an age of early menarche. It is hope that respondents who have excess nutritional status, control the consumption of foods containing fat.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Cesarean section (CS) is the most performed operation globally. It’s a clean-contaminated surgery with higher surgical site infections (SSIs) risk. The mortality rate associated with cesarean section in Africa is 50 times greater than in high income settings, 11 women die per 1000 CS in sub-Saharan Africa and 14% of women suffer complication (SSIs). Proper antibiotic use can reduce this burden however effective antibiotics are running out due to inappropriate use. This study aimed to assess the pre-cesarean and post-cesarean antibiotic practices and the rate of SSIs following CS at Mbale regional referral hospital (MRRH)Methods: The study was a retrospective and descriptive cross-sectional on CS mothers between 1st January 2020 and 31st December 2022 at MRRH.  Out of the 2432 patient files reviewed, an equal number (104) of women who developed SSIs and those that did not develop SSIs (104) were selected by simple random sampling, total sample size of 208.Result: More than half (n=148; 71.2 %.) received antibiotic prophylaxis. Majority received I.V ceftriaxone (38.0%) within 15minutes (mean duration) before skin incision. 35.1% of 208 that received antibiotic prophylaxis developed SSIs. I.V Metronidazole and Ceftriaxone were the most administered after CS and Oral metronidazole was the most prescribed upon discharge. Conclusion : The rate of SSIs at MRRH was 3% similar to that of Mbarara regional referral hospital at 3.5%. Lack of antibiotics prophylaxis and poor antibiotic prophylaxix timing could explain this rateu underscoring compliance to International, National and Hospital surgical bundles.

Abstract

One of the main patient safety goals is the prevention of nosocomial infections. Nurses have quite a big influence on the occurrence of nosocomial infections because their interaction with patients for 24 hours. An effective prevention effort that can be carried out by nurses is implementing standard hand hygiene. However, the incidence of nosocomial infections is observed to be high and many hand hygiene measures are still not carried out by nurses. This systematic review will provide an overview of the level of nurse compliance with the implementation of hand hygiene in hospitals in Indonesia as well as discussing the factors that can influence it. Search for articles using the Google Scholar database according to PRISMA, along 2019-2023 with predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The final results in the form of 16 included articles and descriptive analysis show that the implementation of hand hygiene in several hospitals is not up to standard. Several factors influence the level of hand hygiene compliance among nurses, including attitude, knowledge, motivation, supervision, facilities, length of work, self-ability and workload. Among these factors, attitude shows the most promising influence on the level of hand hygiene compliance but this does not rule out the possibility of developing other factors in further research. Therefore, nurses compliance with the implementation of hand hygiene in hospitals in Indonesia still needs to be improved through improving the factors that influence it.
