Abstract

Background: Since December 2019, a new and infectious type of pneumonia has been detected early in Wuhan, Hubei, and then spread rapidly throughout the world. By March 11th, 2020, WHO finally declared the infectious disease a pandemic. Research on the use of saliva as a method of detecting SARS-Cov-2 has been carried out throughout the world. However, to the best of our knowledge, not many literature reviews have reported on the use of saliva as a sample for the diagnosis of Covid-19. Method: This study aims to report interactively on the use of saliva as a sample for the diagnosis of Covid-19.Result: There are 9 articles that meet research criteria, namely: using a cohort and cross-sectional study design, not a review, case report, letters of editor or protocol, research using saliva as a detection tool, articles published from January to December 2020. Most saliva samples were compared with Nasopharyngeal swab sample for Covid-19 detection. Viral nucleic acids found in saliva obtained from the ducts of the salivary glands may indicate the presence of infection in these glands. Live virus can be detected in saliva through viral culture. Conclusion: Saliva samples show great potential in the detection of Covid-19 and can be recommended as an alternative to simple and non-invasive tests.

Abstract

The still high number of tuberculosis cases in Medan City is proof that the value of health is still low. This is proven by the high number of tuberculosis cases at the Sentosa Baru Community Health Center. Therefore, it is necessary to know the existence of risk factors for tuberculosis and the reasons for them in sufferers in the Sentosa Baru Community Health Center working area. This type of research is descriptive observational research with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study was 64 respondents who were tuberculosis sufferers in the work area of the Sentosa Baru Health Center. The research results show that the majority are of productive age with a high school education level and good (50%) or less (50%) knowledge. Smoking habits were primarily found in the moderate category (31.3%), and the habit of wearing masks was minimal (65.5%). Most had the habit of opening windows (67.2%) but had never removed phlegm in a particular container (40.6%). Observation results showed that the majority already had floors (87.5%) and walls (78.1%) that met the requirements, but only (15.6%) had glass tiles in their homes. Based on the results of cross-tab research, a comparison was made between the level of knowledge, age, level of education, and risk factors. It was concluded that age, level of education, level of knowledge, type of floor, type of wall, availability of glass tiles, smoking habits, habits of wearing masks, habits of opening windows, and habits of expelling phlegm were the reasons that influenced this.

Abstract

Bed bugs (Cimex spp.), locally known as tinggi, kepinding, or tumbila, are blood-sucking insects that inhabit dark, damp areas, including mattresses and sofas. The two main species are Cimex lectularius and Cimex hemipterus, with C. hemipterus being common in tropical regions, including Indonesia. Although their prevalence previously declined, bed bug infestations have re-emerged in recent decades, largely due to increased mobility of people and goods. This activity was conducted at the At-Taqwa Orphanage in Semarang City to improve students’ knowledge of bed bugs and their control through health education. This community service activity used a one-group pre-test and post-test design and involved 22 participants. The activities included a pre-test, an interactive education session, and a post-test. The results showed that most participants were unaware of bed bugs or their presence before the intervention. After the educational session, participants demonstrated a significant increase in knowledge and awareness. In addition to improving knowledge, this activity produced a positive outcome by strengthening participants’ awareness and their ability to independently implement bed bug prevention measures in their living environment. Health education was effective as a preventive strategy, and similar programs should be implemented regularly to improve environmental hygiene and overall public health quality.

Abstract

Introduction: Exclusive breastfeeding among women who return to work remains below global recommendations set by the World Health Organization, largely due to persistent psychological and structural barriers. Partner involvement and digitally delivered health education, particularly short-form video content, have been suggested as promising strategies to support breastfeeding continuation among working mothers. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a workplace-based couple lactation education program with short-form video reinforcement on husbands' breastfeeding knowledge, attitude, and supportive behaviors. Methods: A quasi-experimental pretest–posttest design with a control group was conducted among 84 third-trimester pregnant women (42 intervention, 42 control) employed in the industrial sector of Kudus Regency. The intervention consisted of structured workplace lactation classes involving couples and short-form TikTok videos delivered by a certified lactation counselor. Participants were followed up at one, three, and six months postpartum using validated instruments. Data were analyzed using an independent t-test and General Linear Model Repeated Measures (GLM-RM). Results: The intervention was associated with significant and sustained improvements across outcomes. Husband’s knowledge increased significantly from the third to the six month postpartum (p<0.001). Attitudes improved in the first month (p<0.001), while supportive behaviors showed significant gains at three months and continued to strengthen at six months (p<0.001). GLM-RM analyses indicated significant time effect and group-by-time interactions for all measured outcomes (p<0.05). Conclusion: Short-form video reinforcement, combined with husband-focused lactation education and digital reinforcement into workplace health policies, alongside provisions such as lactation rooms and protected breastfeeding breaks, may support exclusive breastfeeding among working mothers.

Abstract

In order to prevent the occurrence of dengue hemorraghic fever (DHF) outbreaks in Tanjung Priok District, it is necessary to confirm mosquito is infected with the Dengue Virus. In addition, spatial analysis map of the distribution of DHF incident based on population density as a basis for targeted and effective vector control. This study was conducted in January-July 2023, with the sample of respondents from the population of DHF patients. This study was a descriptive cross sectional study design. Coordinate data for DHF patients was taken from the patient's houses and then analyzed spatially using ArcGIS software. Mosquito eradication practice data was collected using direct measurement methods and interview observations and statistical analysis. Dengue virus detection in Ae. aegypti using the Real Time-PCR technique. Variables related to the incidence of DHF were the habit of hanging clothes and the using mosquito repellent (p- <0.05). In all sub-districts in Tanjung Priok, output results with different Z-scores were obtained but with the same pattern, namely clustered pattern. Transmission of DHF incident that occur within a radius of 500-1000 meters from the coordinates of each case allows it to spread to other sub-districts. No Dengue virus was found in the Ae. aegypti mosquito samples.
